Big Picture: The First Cavalry Division and the 41st Infantry Division
Department of Defense. Department of the Army. Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. U.S. Army Audiovisual Center. (ca. 1974 - 05/15/1984). In this unit a tribute is paid to two fighting infantry divisions - "The 1st Cavalry Division and the 41st Infantry Division." It shows the "Cavalry" in action in the jungles of the southwest Pacific, its landing on Leyte and its entrance into Tokyo. The activities of the 41st Infantry Division during the war was graphically told. Colonel Quinn takes the infantryman's weapons apart... verbally.

My uncle was a member of the Oregon National Guard which was called up to patrol the Oregon beaches against a Japanese attach. Oregon was the only state fired upon by the Japanese Navy. The Jungleers were next sent to Australia to defend that island and then fight on, jungle island by jungle island in the Pacific until the end of the war. They were such fierce fighters that the Japanese knew their name. My uncle fought through the entire war and came home at the end.

You did not hear about the bombardment of Ellwood California by a Japanese Submarine. Proud and thankful for Your Uncles Service and good to know He made it through.

Alaska was invaded and had to be retaken. The Aleutians. German Spies were released in New York & LA & Frisco via submarine several times

It was said Douglas MacArthur considered the 41st Infantry Division his most experienced infantry division.

Thank You great footage. I would like to display on my channel @TacticalSimTech I was a member of the 41st Infantry Regiment 99-03. I was looking for something and got this for 41st I guess. However, it is relevant since I was a task force scout. In the Cav as the recon for the 1st BN, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division. Scouts Out!!

Back when I was at Ft. Carson there was an inside joke about the 4th ID patch. It was called "4 Lieutenants Going North". One guy who came from Ft. Hood from 1st Cavalry Division said that their patch stood for "A Horse they never rode, a river they never crossed, and the color they were in battle.". All Army jokes about their unit patches.

Go to the post office enlist, easy and quick. Find your troop, train, workout. The catch, you might get hit and you actually did battle. You didn't go through enlistment and boot just to play touch butt for a few years. This was not why the Continental Army was founded, or before that colonial militia. Municipal service would be better for screwing around and wasting funds.
