Omg I love this new space! I love the flooring and the pergola, so gorgeous. It will look awesome with a seating area, and so great there are outlets available. Genius idea using the dollys to lift the wall planters up! So excited for Spring 2025 to see everything planted with annuals😍🌸🌼🌺

Thank you!! This winter is going to go by so slowly while I wait to plant 😆

Boy, I was lost on the planters until you showed the Titan Arch. It’s going to be beautiful no matter what you plant.

I’m so excited for that part!! I got those containers specifically to fit the arch 🤣

Its going to be beautiful! Im in MN 4b/5a- and have 2 very small raised beds (squares basically) off my main raised beds, next to a bench/trellis, that are almost 3 feet above the ground because of our sloped yard. I have generous gardener climbing roses planted in each. They did beautifully in them last winter! I'd say try 1 climbing rose and see how it does- they grow amazingly fast. There are quite a few zone 3 and up roses to choose from and i plant mine deep, even in my clay soil, they are so resilient. I'd go for it! :) you can even push some of your deck furniture around the planters in winter for extra protection from the wind.

Thank you, this is so helpful!! The generous gardener rose has been the most recommended so I think I need to go for it! I can’t wait for spring to get here.

I know that you said no more morning glories but I saw this on another channel tour and fell in love, boom ordered! Split Second morning glory from Baker Seeds in pink. Look like roses!

I just looked them up and now I might need some too 😆

Hi Bethany. This is going to be a beautiful space ! Trying to orient directions-if you are on your back deck (assuming the garage deck faces an alley of sorts) can you look over the wall and see the garage deck ?
@ChicagoGardener2 ай бұрын
You can! You have to bend over the wall a bit but you can see it.

It's always exciting to start a new project 😅 The trellis with the roses will look great. Maybe you can put something like a big layer of expanded clay balls or perlite on the bottom of those planters that it's not getting too wet for the roots of the roses. I use these expanded clay balls in my pots and it's working.
@ChicagoGardener2 ай бұрын
I love that idea! Where do you get the clay balls from?

I'm finally going to get all my raised beds assembled in the coming weeks and will also be planning where to plant what. Hoping to have a big harvest next summer. This summer - what a joke. Weird lettuce and a 2" long carrots.

My carrots didn't do well for me either this year!

Love the sunflower planter stands and the new Edge Righter pots! I have been looking for Corten steel planters! Now to watch for sales! The rolling dollys are genius! I wonder if you can mark them more “stable” by zip tying them together so they don’t shift. However I’m sure the weight of the planters with soil will keep them secure. I also like the planters spread apart with maybe a taller planter in between. I think the change in elevation of the plants will be striking. Great content!

Love the zip tie idea! I’m 100% doing that!

Long John Silver rose is hardy to zone 2. You could combine with a nice hardy clematis to increase the amount of flowering time. Impatient Gardener has successfully overwintered clematis in a similar pot system for many years.

Thank you!! Adding this plant to my list.

It’s going to be amazing! I’m bad at judging things spatially too. I have a question, once you have soil in all your planters, do you think it’s going to make a mess on your white tiles? I’ve seen other gardeners that have a mess on their concrete pads when they put planting beds, etc. on their patios, etc..
@ChicagoGardener2 ай бұрын
I feel like I’m going to be extra obsessive about trying to keep them clean at first 🤣 I do have a shop vac I plan to use out here!
@kremamcknight54612 ай бұрын
You should zip tie the caddy together

Thank you!!! I’m going to try that bc it will be a whole lot easier that way 😆

Maybe Generous Gardener by David Austin? It is a zone 3 rose. I was trying to find you a thornless rose since it is tight spacing. But I couldn't find one cold tolerant enough.

I love end of season shopping! I got a bunch of plants.. about a dozen I believe.. last week for at least 50% off! I got 2 peonies, a clematis, some heuchera and sedum, a ninebark and dappled willow. Those planters are lovely! And what an awesome price!
