I bought myself a 2008 Ford fusion SEL V6 with 190,000 miles for $500 and it was dirt cheap for one reason, code P0303 aka misfire on cylinder 3. I replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs and she now runs like a dream. Best $500 I ever spent.

When my Hyunsai Elantra showed a code for misfire on cylinder four it wasn't the plug or coil, it was low compression. You would never know anything was wrong were it not for the check engine light. 50,000 miles so Hyundai replaced the engine. Well short block they reused the head.

I’ve had my 2012 SEL for four years now in the red candy tint metallic color. Got it when it had just over 98k miles. Today I’m approaching 163k and it’s still going great. Just couple weeks ago I had my transmission flushed for the second time of owning it. It’s a fully loaded one with factory nav, sunroof, the 12 speakers only system, the BLISS system etc. only thing missing is AWD. The first gen fusions, particularly the ‘1.5 gen” models from 2010-2012 still look great today. The style still holds up pretty well.

My gf and i have one of these for just 750 dollars. 262,000 miles when we got it. Its been over a year now and we have driven over 5k miles and heres list of maintenence we have done: changed tires, changed front rotors and breaks, changed spark plugs and coils, changed valve covor gasket, two tie rods, 4 ball joints. Sounds like a lot but we need a cheap reliable car and weve done this gradually over a year. Total spent on this car probably about 3-4k for a running car and a year of driving could be worse. Im pleased especially for a car that total to buy was 750. Hope it keeps running for me

Man! Can confirm! I have a 2012 SE with the 2.5 and it's been nothing but a sweet cruise. I bought it in 2013 and as I am typing this, it is sitting @ 197489 miles. No major repairs or complaints other than, as you said, the dang door handles, adding a bit better quality speakers, and changing the occasional light bulb. I am about to replace my valve cover gasket as the original is starting to show it's face. I found some oil on my coil packs. It's a natural occurrence and I can not complain! Working on this thing is easy. The space it offers is great. The ride is fantastic. It does have some umph when you give it the beans l -- over all it's a solid choice if you can find one.

@@melodyxiong8094 Just my very uneducated opinion, but it seems the later model Fusions don't do as well. For some reason, 2009 - 2012 were the golden years for Fords. Got myself a 10 fusion sel with just about all the bells and whistles for its trim, and I absolutely love this car. Haven’t done any maintenance other than oil changes so far, I get pretty good gas mileage, and you can’t not enjoy the power of the 3.0 V6 in these things. Couple that with all the space inside, and I really don’t think there’s a better first car than the first gen fusions

One of the reasons I was excited to get my 2017 SE is because it had the 2.5. I did my research and told my dealer I go to for vehicles that it would be perfect if he could find a 2.5, worst case I would be fine with the 2l ecoboost but luckily he found one at 63K miles. I want simplicity in my daily driver so a decent NA 4 cylinder is great and the 2.5 fits perfectly. Nothing but oil changes and its at 90K. Great engines and simple too. I hate how so many engines are getting turbos plastered onto them, just give me a NA simple efficient engine damnit lol.

I'm still driving my 2010 Fusion SEL. Bought new in January 2010. 69,000 miles now. Main problem I found was if I left my IPOD plugged in to aux inside the console the battery would drain and go dead. The 12v outlet on the console is not powered unless the car is running or in aux mode. The USB outlet is always powered. Four batteries in five years before I figured it out. And yes, I also had to replace the lever on the driver door. Inexpensive replacement part from Amazon and a bit of labor fixed it easily and cheaply. West Coast car so no salted roads or rust. I wanted it to be my last new car and so far it still goes back and forth.

I'm on my 2nd Fusion. The 1st was a 2006 SEL V6. Grey with black cloth seats. Power windows. It had 81k on it when I bought it. Great car.I wound up trading it after 9 years & 140k + miles with the rockers rusted out, and underneath scaly and 1 hole patched underneath the passenger seat. I live in the rust belt. So I traded it for a 2012 SEL V6 diamond white, with leather heated seats, etc.. A Florida car and clean underneath as when new. Looks just like this one in this video. It had 71K when I bought it. These cars are really pretty reliable. And comfortable. Ford made a mistake ceasing production. One of the best cars they ever made. The 3.0 liter V6 is really the same engine they put in the Jaguars when Ford owned them. Made right here @ Cleveland engine Plant 2.

Bought a 2012 Fusion 2.5l it was a rental car from Enterprise, Hertz I don't remember. It had over 96,000 miles, it currently has 237,000+ miles, other than normal maintenance stuff it's still going strong. My wife drives it to work, and around town to save miles on her new car. It has been very dependable, not a bad thing to say about it.

I bought my 08 SEL , 6 cyl new in 08. I'm still driving it with 147,000 miles. 2 days ago I noticed oil dripping which turned out to be the pressure sensor in the power steering pump. it was a $35 easy fix. Airbag recall was repaired last year along with Anti lock brake recall . Beside normal maintenance like brakes and tires Ive had nothing go wrong with this car . My car also shines like the day it was new .

Had it for only a few weeks when some teen on a phone did not notice that we were all stoped and totaled it.... With the money from that I Immediately and with no hesitation bought the exact same car. This car is a true hidden gem!!!!

I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL. It is equipped with the Microsoft Sync, navigation system and a cd-playee which has the larger screen. For those who don't know, this particular stereo has a built jukebox that can store up to 2650 songs or tracks. If you have one of these systems, it is very easy to upload your cd's. 1. Put in your favorite cd into cd player. 2. Click on the 'record' icon on the screen (located on the bottom right on the screen 3. The system will automatically upload your songs/tracks. 4. Once the cd has been uploaded, remove the cd from the stereo.

That check filler door message can also occur if the actual quick fill gas cap gets fouled with debris and other dirt. It needs to be serviced periodically. Open the door, inspect use compressed air to blow out any large pieces of debris and some brake cleaner on a rag for, the outside of the quick fill. After that, get the emergency roadside funnel and some WD-40. Spray down the hole where the filler nozzle goes in and then repeatedly insert an extract the emergency road funnel. Repeat once or twice and then reset the message. After one or two drive cycles it should either stay off or come back. if debris keeps that quick fill cap from completely shutting, when you extract a filler nozzle, the car thinks that the filler door is open.

I have a 2008 SEL (V6) with about 260k miles. The rear main seal is leaking and suspension could use a replacement. But it’s a kid car now. Door handles are a weakness. Regular maintenance of course which is fairly easy except spark plugs on the back side are a pain. but I’m trying to think of anything major needed to be done. Maybe a water pump.

Bought a 2011 for my son. Had it a year, has 80,000 miles now. Front end was making all sorts of creeks, pops, front tires were wearing on the edges. Took it to my mechanic and he found the tie rods, ball joints, all had to be replaced. Then add the rear brakes and calipers, and we have a $1800 bill. Never had to do this to a car before with this low of miles.

Yep. Ive got a 2011 and just had to do that. Did the job with my dad whos a mechanic. The suspension on this car wears out way too fast. I thought that was strange too. It has front and rear lower control arms so TWO ball joints on the knuckle. Never had ball joints that were so hard to press out. Literally bent a ball joint press and had to cut the control arm off at the joint to get a bigger tool and more leverage on it.

I got a 2011 mercury milan premiere edition (fwd no idea if milan made awd ones) as my first car during highschool. $14k at around 60k miles at the time, still own it sitting at 160k miles. Lots of fun times, lots of not so fun times lol Some of the biggest issues I ever had was 1. A half done tune up job meaning midas didn't find the hidden steel bracket connecting the intake manifold to the firewall (thanks for taking my $300 midas) so I had my buddies dad help me with that big ups to him 2. The power steering recall, I found out mine was computerized I guess and was lucky my buddy found out ford had a recall on it that I never got from the dealership amd thankfully they honored it, would've been a $3k job atleast from what the dealer told me 3. Worn out cv axle on my driver side mix of abuse and wear an tear I'm not going to lie lol 4. This was the gasket for the oil pan. Me an my buddies didn't want to snap any of the bolts under to free the exhaust to take out the oil pan itself so we just cut the pipe instead to save us time plus we get to hear my car kinda clapped out so it was a win win in my eyes lol And 5. The a/c is weak, no idea how to go about that and way to lazy to take the dash apart to take a look an whatnot so any ideas from those who sufferered the same as i any help/info would be appreciated! (It still works but not as strong and my center right shutter is hardly blowing air) Are there better first cars out there? Sure this one definitely gave me a long rolling headache but honestly I kinda find it hard to want to get rid of it, and now I'm saving for hopefully a 2011 5.0 mustang #thankyoufordmayihaveanother 😂

The only gripe i had with the 1st gen fusions were they made the interior cheap. The Inside door handles would break due to them being made from plastic. The fake sticker chrome they put around the gear selecter would start to fray and the grab handles would start to sag on their own. But the powertrain was oretty reliable. now the 2nd gen fusions interior were made much better, it just has better quality all the way around, but they suffer one huge issue and thats the cooliant instrusion issue on the 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0L ecoboost engines. From 2012 sept to april of 2019 models. But if you got the naturally asperated 2.5L engine you were good which is what i have in my 2018 fusion.

I had a 2007 Focus it was ok but once they're about 10 years old w/ a lot of miles on them they start having issues. You should be ok though since it has such low miles. Ford and GM both have bad ideas for the body styles they give their cars. Always a weird back or too boxy or something. The 2010 Fusion is one exception I feel it looks about just right. The 2007 era Focus wasn't bad either especially the models that had the spoiler on it which is what I had. .
