I have to hand it to the gal in Immaculate. She had no hesitation in offing the Antichrist and possibly saving the world? Like, I thought it was refreshing that she just went all out in the last act. It was a fun experience in theater. Not the greatest movie ever, but great for its group type. My mother wanted to see that and the Omen remake. And the Omen remake was stylish and did something different and interesting. The visuals, costumes and scenes were pretty darn interesting. Would I rather watch Spy Family again instead of seeing either of the devil baby movies? Yeah. But I think they are rewatchable. It’s no Mortal Kombat. I saw that thing like eight times in theaters.

I loved and original Omen and Damien Omen II (the first R-rated movie I ever saw). I was disappointed with The Final Conflict. Omen IV: The Awakening was unmitigated trash and the remake was pointless. The downward trajectory of this franchise meant I had low expectations for this. How glad I am to hear from most folks that The First Omen is the best since the original. We were due a good Omen movie.

I’m still working on that myself. I’ve learned to just sit down and do it. Sometimes I’m not motivated, don’t think I have any ideas and procrastinate. However, the ideas just come to me whenever I sit down and actually start writing. Even if it sucks, you can edit as you go, but the first step is to do the work. Even if it’s a little bit everyday.

In All Honesty I thought this Prequel was gonna Flop but I be Damn that it was probably the Best Horror Movie of 2024 so Far which is as Shocking as what Evil did to that Slimer, also I Have a Question Andy, Any Thoughts on Ermac? Now that would have been awesome, Damien comes out and the Jerry Goldsmith music hits. Even with empty theaters it might have caused a pop. 😉 Still, with me, the whole making the mother human after hearing for the longest time it was a jackal, yeah, main thing that has me approaching this with caution. I'm sure I'll see it, after all, probably after it hits VOD, my completionism would kick it, and probably end up buying it on some sale, but still caution right now. I watched it and it reminded me so much of "Immaculate" but on the opposite spectrum. To be honest it didn't feel like an Omen film and could of been it's own thing. The Actor playing Troughtons character I have to admit displayed many of his characterisms and body language (just not the voice). The tacked on Omen Theme when Damian was born just didn't sit well and was jarring. Contradicts the original Omen - so Damien now has a twin sister and his Mum survived?? The Cinematography reminded me of 70s Italian horror. Overall I did enjoy it, although some elements of it but the link in to the Original Omen felt forced and as with way too many Modern Horror films the 3rd Act went down hill . Great review as always Andy 😊👌

I have to agree. That this movie could have been it's own thing rather than try to compete with Immaculate. The First Omen left out a few things that was in the original like Father Brennan having the 666 mark on his thigh indicating that he was an apostate of the Devil. If this movie was about the church having Margaret investigate what is causing the decrease in church numbers and a sense of rising evil in the world only for her to discover that a dark secret group of Satanist are preparing the world for the birth of the Antichrist by doing covert operations around the world resulting in total chaos, it would have been interesting. We could have had Father Brennan make friends with Margaret and help her out with the investigation but then turn against her or perhaps even kill her revealing that he is part of the Satanist group and the movie could have ended with him watching Damien's birth from a Jackal and lead to where the original Omen began.

A movie I expected to hate, but actually ended up liking. Yes it didn’t need to exist, but the performances by Nell Tiger Free & Ralph Ineson alone are worth watching along with Mark Korven’s creepy score that respectfully pays homage to the legendary Jerry Goldsmith’s work for the first film and even a nod to the theme of the 2nd film. I know a lot of people are losing their minds over the change of Damien’s parentage cause of the original saying his mom was a jackal, but it didn’t really bother me as Margaret does have the DNA of a jackal and watch her gyrating movements at the church where she seems canine-like.

Took a while to get to the good parts, coulda shaved 30-ish minutes off, but the payoff was well worth the wait. Nell Tiger Free can stand proudly alongside Linda Blair, Jennifer Carpenter, & Ingrid Torelli (of Late Night with the Devil fame), as actresses who can convincingly play possessed, though I do wish they'd gotten someone who looked closer to Patrick Troughton for his character's actor. Also....there's the little hiccup with the plot that doesn't mesh with the original movie. Overall though, I liked it.

I didn't follow the marketing all that closely when this first came out, but it didn't feel like it was particularly clear that it was part of the 'Omen' franchise, and that the title could sound like a generic horror movie. The only thing that took me out of this movie was thinking about part 3 and how all this setup was for a guy who ultimately gets stabbed in the back.

I watched this movie and then watched The Omen movies afterwards. This movie introduced the possibility that Damien had a sister but she never appears any of these movies. Unless the cult killed them or maybe the sister started the Christian rebels against him.
