As I was watching through the Star Wars sequel trilogy, I noticed something about The Force Awakens...and then I noticed it again in The Last Jedi: The First Order seems to be intentionally written to be blind! So I went through each film scene by scene to try to prove the theory...

Realized after 6 years that Poe almost shoots Finn at first time. Instead Poe shoots one of Finn's friend, who's blood is getting on Finn's helmet which event makes Finn shocked and conscious. And after that Finn and Poe immediately become friends. What a great story!

"Are we blind?!" perfectly sums up the entire First Order, lol. Even actual blind characters in Star Wars (i.e. Kanan Jarrus, Chirrut Îmwe, Rahm Kota, Visas Marr, etc.) will kick the ass out of them, with or without the assistance of the Force.

It just sucks the filmmakers made the Resistance look strong by making the FO look like idiots most of the time. The Empire actually felt like a well coordinated army they had little hope of defeating, while the FO felt like it was all first year recruits.

Mandalorian is very mediocre. It works just like TFA: brings back many old characters, gives them epic scenes and doen't care about it's own plot. The entire plot of two seasons: Bounty hunter found that his target is baby with the Force, decided to protect him from Imperials, tried to find the Jedi for him and Jedi came to him himself and solved Empire problem. All of that could easily be told in 3-4 episodes if the show had logic and everyone or at least some people knew Luke Skywalker, Jedi who saved the Galaxy 5 years ago, whos sister is leader of New republic and who is creating new Jedi order. We don't even know Mando's personality except he hated droids, but now he doesn't.

The worst part is, the show had potential but doesn't hit the sweet spot well enough. Combined with the Sequel Trilogy's 2-year releases as the rest takes place one after another, that is never a good strategy as all it served them to make money instead of respecting the works of art.

The stormtroopers and Kylo sort of behave like they're in a video game (though not completely). Like in Fallout when you're in the middle of a shootout with a load of raiders, two supermutants and a machine gun turret but you still stop to loot dead bodies and open your pipboy to scoff down food and drink and you don't notice what's going on around you or take any damage while doing that.

Not surprised that the First Order was incompetent, but on this level is astonishing and greatly does show how bad JJ and Rian at both writing and making anything a potential threat. The Resistance might as well just ignored the First Order as they would of likely destroyed themselves due to their incompetence.

To be fair I do plan to do a similar examination of the Empire, so we can effectively compare well written villains vs what the ST gave us. But I do expect they'll be nowhere near as incompetent as this analysis proved the FO to be.

Sadly, the Resistance is not much better. Just let Starkiller destroy your base, the planet will freeze and they all die. No need to lose lives there. They got Holdo. Rose is keeping volunteers hostage for leaving. Apparently slavekids are okiedokie but animals need rescue (and the kids are fine with this even as they want the regime that enslaved them back) and literally nobody wants to help them unless Billy Dee says hi to them. All to rebuild the failure of a New Republic.

I noticed something else you don't seem to mention. At 21:04 when Poe is using his Super Special Why Haven't We Seen It Before or Since Rocket and it runs out of boost(?) he's shown slamming forward as if he were encountering resistance. There's no friction in space and he wouldn't slow down he would just stop accelerating.

True, but I would normally let something like that go, since it's really hard to depict space travel properly. In fact a lot of the time it makes more sense for the audience, to portray something IMproperly. Like how you always see someone rack a gun to indicate they're loading a bullet when in reality that would actually eject a bullet already in the chamber.

@@DarthdYT To think about it, robot/droids in SW universe are either having AI too advance to a point of able to act independently and having emotion, or too basic to a point of becoming a joke. Usually, the utility droids are more intelligent than combat droids. It is a contradiction - if people in SW universe fear AI will take over, and that's the reason they make combat droids dumb, there is no difference with making utility droid so intelligent. We can see what a droid could do in Solo movie. - surely combat droids must be more intelligent than utility droids, because they need to think creatively - AI taking over is not an issue since they can make a prime directive like Robocop that prevent them against their own master Palpatine don't need to build clone army to kill Jedis, only need to make droids with lightsaber resistance materials and shields. We can see that Jedi having trouble with Droidekas that having shields. The whole SW saga is not needed. Palpatine already have powerful apprentice, Darth Maul who cannot die even cut in half. With special droid army, they can defeat the Jedi and the Republic easily.

You could argue the space periscopes are virtual reality screens, like the ones Spock and Sulu have on the Enterprise... but they look like periscopes. They even have handles you can slam up dramatically before reporting what you saw.

yeah, I'm not 100% against the idea, but the implementation was just poor. I get the director wanted an homage to old war movies, but it just came off as a suspiciously outdated method of exterior surveillance. Personally, I'd show those officers wearing a VR-type headset which the Captain can toggle to view himself when needed.

Despite Leia mentioning their escape was too easy, and the next big event being the climax of the movie to defend the rebel base against the Death Star. Though, it wasn't helped by the cannonized out-take of Mark Hammel complaining about the prop of the helmet.

If i had to guess, i think that disney and is afraid to create compelling villains. I think there was a terror attack because some crazy guy believes, he could be the next joker. The writers from disney saw that and try to avoid making interesting villains. Imagine you write an intersting villain and some idiot got inspired to kill some innocent people.

Great video, Darth'd. Other breakdowns I thought of: practically NO scene in RoS made me LOL like the lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo inside the Death Star 2.0 wreckage. I would love to see a slow motion, illustrated breakdown of it. As I recall, her first swing at him (right after he crushed the Wayfinder) was so far over his head, he didn't _need_ to evade it, though he did anyway. I also recall Kylo leaning his head back (leaving his torso forward) from a lower saber strike from Rey, and drawing his torso back (leaving his head forward) from a higher strike. They just seemed accidentally in reverse. I also would love a supercut of every time Finn screamed "REYYY!!" and some speculation as to the tactical reason why a soldier trained in combat since boyhood would repeatedly do that.

The First Order already gave the excuse that the resistance ships were faster then theirs were. The only reason why the First Order were not falling behind was because they could barely keep up. Its already been noted by other creators that the First Order could of sent a portion of their star destroyers to do a short hyperspace jump to get in front of the resistance to box them in.

@@DarthdYT Realistically the space chase should have never happened. It only happens because of a plot device that gets pulled out and misused followed by the First Order being handed the Idiot Ball. Furthermore when you think about things tactically... all the First Order had to do to win was deploy their fighters and bombers. With the Resistance fighters grounded swarming the Raddus with the thousands of fighters and bombers a ship like the Supremacy would have and they would be destroyed with ease. Just like how the real world Yamato was destroyed with utter ease by the hundreds of dive bombers and torpedo bombers engaging it.

Two different issues there: 1. He couldn't shoot due to the psychological trauma of being a bad guy and not wanting to kill people (doesn't make sense, but it's what they went with) 2. When he's fighting for the good guys, it becomes obvious he was a pretty top marksman, which explains why he was in Phasma's elite squad. Again, not saying the way they presented that info makes sense, but it does explain his different shooting abilities.

Seriously what the point of the helmets of stormtroopers you would think they have optics,thermal scans or detective mode in there visors like the Spartans helmet in halo or Batman mask in Arkham or Iron man etc. Well I know something clone troopers are way better than stormtrooper now I know why Darth Vader/Anakin prefer his 501st legion clones instead of the stormtroopers because they are incompetent the clones however was bred for war and they were trained by mandalorins and really they kinda are Mandolin due being blood/clone related to Jango fett. I know the mask supposed to be menacing but of it if not useful to something and really the sequel trilogy shows that we shouldn’t give a damn about stormtroopers Finn didn’t hesitate to kill them so really they are nothing special.

Underrated post. Without some sort of digital Iron Man-esque VR interface inside the helmet, all they do is restrict field of vision. Any protection they might provide from projectile head trauma is immaterial because body armor damage from both sidearm and rifle fire is fatal regardless! You know, until I'm proven otherwise, I'm convinced that no action movie would stand up well to the level of scrutiny movies like the SW sequel trilogy, WW84, etc. have been subjected to. But my gosh, with every video like this that I watch, I like the SW trilogy less. That's saying something considering how much I detested the last two (TLJ and RoS) as I was watching them for the first time. It's almost as if practically no thought was put into the story and filming.

@@DarthdYT That's...fair. But it does just feel cheap because Disney has their hand in both franchises. Plus, as you mentioned, there was no reason for them to get out here whereas the scene in KH3 takes place at a lore-significant location.

lol that's hilarious cause I literally wrote that script at the same time. It was called something like "The Empire ISN'T Blind", and showed how they were actually competent in all their scenes. In the end it didn't feel like it fit with this video and I wasn't sure how it'd work as a stand-alone either...

Kathleen Kennedy ruined this thing from the start. She is just a coffee girl who just got promoted. She had no idea what “the force “ is about, other than it was now female. Her “scrapbooking” approach to filmmaking is stupid. She hired a bunch of filmmakers that didn’t know what Star Wars is about. JJ makes TFA and leaves all these mysteries,then Rian chooses not to answer any of the mysteries. And finally JJ and KK scrapbooks the last film together and we get a seriously effed up trilogy. They tried to make their own movies when they were supposed to be making a Star Wars movie.

Disney Wars is the gift that keeps giving. Oh well! I have seen every analytical video on these crap films.... and I will keep doing so. They are thought out before production and more entertaining... something Disney Wars has never been. 29:00 This is my most hated moment of Disney Wars. Not even the sand thing Anakin said in the prequels is equivalent to this kamikaze moment. Eh, it happens in all movies really so grain of salt. Protags always have unrealistic plot armor. But finding plausible explanations like her being a spy is fun and makes the flaws more bearable.

@@DarthdYT It's the only explanation I can think of for how the First Order knew about the Rebel/Resistance escape plan. The codebreaker guy didn't know about it and neither did Finn, but Rose hangs around the all the ways to escape that ship. How could she not know what's going on? With that being the case, why not tell Finn that there's a plan, even if she doesn't say what it is? The entire sidequest was prompted by Rose, yet she did the most to undermine its success. She also stopped Finn from destroying the battering ram cannon with an out of nowhere excuse of "being in love with Finn and wanting to save him" It also explains how they were captured by the First Order in the first place. Moreover, if the codebreaker was also an agent, that would also explain how they just *happened* to find a different codebreaker who was just sitting in a prison he could easily escape from for *some* reason. It also would explain why she did stuff that guaranteed they got arrested. That aside, the Hyperspace Tracker would have been a great way to explain why Holdo didn't go with the obvious "send a team to try to take it out" plan and allows that ramming bit to be effective without breaking lore. If it only works because of the interaction between the tracker and the ship being tracked plowing into it, then people obviously can't just it all the time.

Your point about continuing to move doesn't make sense. Case 1: This is an instance of weird Star Wars logic and you actually do need to keep firing the engines to keep moving in the middle of space. Your argument is entirely invalid. Case 2: The chase follows real-world physics, to an extent. You can see their engines burning. Dialogue confirms this as intentional. This means the ship is _accelerating_ and the pursuers cannot keep up with the ship's _acceleration._ Your point doesn't make sense because the pursuers will be able to catch up as soon as the target can no longer accelerate. Most of your points are good, but this one is not.

Dude, have you watched James Bond movies?? When bad guys shoot Bond, they fail!!! This happens in EVERY ADVENTURE MOVIE. Would you kill the MAIN CHARACTERS in the middle of a movie , Or even before?, to show how dangerously accurate the bad guys are when they fire at the good guy?? You kill your main characters in the middle of the story, and your AUDIENCE will not care anymore for the story. You see just the audience is SO INVESTED in YOUR MAIN CHARACTERS, you kill them off, to make it kook more realistic?? You eliminate your cool characters and you're done, and game over for your story. Advice, see all the James Bond movies!!

Yes, I've seen Bond. And yeah, I know they can't actually shoot the main characters. But that's a failure in the cinematography. Like Indiana Jones, audience members didn't make it a meme that the "nazi's can't shoot", but that's totally a meme in SW, and one much more obvious in the Sequels.
