No, for the simple reason you CANNOT do what you can with Contrast with them. You wouldn't be able to do for example the paintjob shown here. They can only do one thing, that all. Contrast is a multi purpose tool and extremely versatile It's an extremely flawed product, that shouldn't have been rushed into market.

The longer dry time is what makes me the most excited, as I'll be more easily able to control where the paint goes. I already super thin down Contrast paints and use multiple layers to avoid splotches, so being able to actually clean up and use one layer will be a time saver.

The smooth application/coverage looks really good. I would like to see it over a fully zenithal highlighted miniature. Any paint can be thinned to a glaze and let the zenithal through, but how saturated the color will be important (and how much effort the desired transparency requires). Also, AIRBRUSH!!! We gotta see this through an airbrush. I know it's the very first video, but I'm quite excited and have tons of questions! :D It's really awesome to hear Vallejo worked with such a talent in the community directly to ensure a better product. Knowing you personally worked on it for over a year means a TON!! Can't wait to see more!

Okay, that looks really interesting. Especially how smooth it looks over larger flat surfaces. Might be interesting paints to add to the collection. The only thing I didn't like as much is the pooling on the skin, but my guess is if you lift off more of the excess, you would fix that as well.

Due to how it's sculpted, that's how any contrast product will pool, the crevices are super deep and harsh

They could not have done better than you for collaboration on a product like this. Very glad to hear that Vallejo didn't just replicate the GW range colors one for one. There are gaps in the GW range that a competitor can fill to great benefit for a lot of painters.

Hi Juan thanks for showing this intro to the range. Having a choice of a matt finish is important to me and as you said if a satin/gloss finish is needed a GW product may do the trick. What impressed me most was the finish on the white shorts with the subtle variances , great for crusader knight tunics, plus the black on the beard sort of like nuln oil ie same but different. I really am looking forward to the next vid with the entire range and will be buying a few colours to test when they become available. Thanks again.

Very nice, you clearly did your job with testing these! That Dwarf Skin is amazing, it doesn't give that "bad photo recolour" look that Guilliman Flesh et al. usually do, because it's so saturated, and there's almost no blotchiness. The results actually look really close to something you'd get from traditional acrylics. This might be the thing that finally pushes me to use Contrast-type paints in the intended way. I've only really used them to tint metallics or do quick and dirty OSL glazes so far.

Longer drying time is a big plus over Citadel Contrast which tend to create pooling-rings very fast and leave little time for corretion. I think its a great video as it shows that contrast colors by concept are not "slap on" - you still need to paint with them carefully to get good results (basically like a base layer that does so much more). I also really like the aknoledgement of Contrast paints without the Marketing-bla-bla that tries to sell you a new product as far superior.
