@@Tingman for sure. also probably raise the cost. maybe there's another way, but it seems to me like there won't be a good solution. so, saying that, I stared at my 356x for a couple of minutes, after examining the space around the center pieces on it and one other cube that happened to be handy: *1.* I think there's not likely to be a reliable way to turn all cubes by twisting the centers. without special caps, there's no way for the robot to know if it has a good enough grip, and without the cube knowing its state and communicating to the robot, there's no way for it to know if the turn was successful. (I mean, it seems like a visual system would be unreliable and expensive) *2.* otoh, if you only _support_ the cube around the centers, it *_might_* be possible to make the turns with 6 pistons. think something that pushes each layer, like a U with your left index finger. at the cost of speed, you could (for example) do a U3 for a U', and so only have 6 pistons. making the pistons small and light would be tricky, but it seems more possible than twisting the centers of even the 356x.

The only benefits that would have would be to quickly scramble it correctly (not making any mistakes), but then, that would require it to be modified to be able to control the sixth face, otherwise it defeats its own purpose.

Just got the robot, a GAN 356 M, replacement center caps to make the cube compatible with the robot. I can't figure out a way to make the robot scramble the cube, even though it connects just fine to the app. Anyone find a work around for this? My main and only goal is to have the robot randomly scramble for me.

I bought a Giiker to help me learn how to cube but it’s SO LOUD I’m self conscious taking it anywhere. How loud is 356i? Is it worth buying it to learn on? If so, I’ll definitely be getting the robot haha

It's certainly neat, but it's ultimately just a novelty because the amusement wears off pretty quick, and without controlling the sixth side, its abilities are hindered which defeats its whole purpose. Maybe some day if they can make a six-axis one that is cheap, then it could find a place as a desk-toy. 🤷 I'm not sure about practical applications. 🤔

- it doesn’t seem to be affected by the lack of control over the 6th side though! It can still solve any scrambled state. But yeah I suppose it wouldn’t be able to do wca scrambles, since you need to be able to turn all 6 sides.
