Especially when you delve into the Halo lore and learn that Chief (and by extension, every other Spartan), weigh over 1,000 pounds when wearing MJOLNIR combined with their own augmented weight. That's when it should really be obvious that Johnson had to have been a super-soldier himself, even if perhaps not nearly as enhanced, because there's no way in hell that a normal human (no matter how strong) is pulling someone who weighs half-a-ton to his feet, let alone with the sort of ease that Johnson did it with.

I had always thought the “Spartan-Ones” were the original 300 that faced off against the Persians, and Halsey naming her pet project “Spartan-II’s” was just a cute nod to history..

I mean it's not inaccurate. She named her project the Spartan-II program as a double historical nod. "Spartan" as a nod back to the Greek Spartans, specifically the 300 who died at Thermopylae since she too started with 300 potential candidates and they likewise would be the ones safeguarding their people back home. The "-II" in turn was an acknowledgement of the Orion soldiers and what they had gone through, retroactively declaring the members of Project Orion as "Spartan-Is" once she got the IIs up and running.

Fun Fact: Originally, (during Halo: Combat Evolved), the lore was that the “Spartan 1’s” were THE Spartans... like... from Sparta... Leonidas and the “300”... they were given the name Spartan IIs because they would be a superior fighting force made of a small number of soldiers... They were named after the originals in honor of the legacy of the name... but as lore progresses, things get retcon’d... not surprising... love your videos! They are not unnecessary at all. II’s are a dying breed, and there are very few III’s left as well. IV’s are the modern iteration who, although are not as strong as their former counterparts, are the UNSC’s way of honoring and eventually replacing the Spartans once they no longer can fight.
