The First Tree is a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in an understanding of death. Along the way, players can uncover artifacts and stories from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.

@@ZamWeazle It's been out for a year. I don't know what the other fox game you are referring to is. However, I will describe this game. The game has a pretty good story, but that's all that's going for it. Basically you are a fox that runs around a beautiful environment doing the same meaningless task: collect the glowing sphere things. You just blindly run around the same empty environment trying to find the collectables. Every area looks the same. There is no platforming or real challenge. You just run around. That's it. That's the game. Do this for 2 hours and you beat it. The big problem with the game is that it's boring. The art style is great, but that doesn't make up for the meaningless gameplay.

Yes, I was happy with Abzu coming. We need more of those exploration games with an incredible settings (sound, music and artistic direction) and interesting story telling that makes you live an experience. Once in a while, it is refreshing to play those instead of heavy action oriented games.

This game started out as a gamejolt development title. The developer, David Welhle had been going through tough times. He delayed the game tons of times and never made an official name. I stopped tracking its progress in 2016 after I assumed he gave up. Now here we are, same man, same game, same graphic style. It’s finally happening.

Played this game on my PS4 I so wish I had the switch at the time this game came out. A beautiful game that was fun and beautiful to play. I just hate how short it was. Only a 2-hour game but totally worth every penny. Might buy for the switch and play it again.
