Bit of TfL take over trivia: You can tell which station is run by TfL on the GW lines just by looking at the electronic passenger displays. The ones run by TfL just say "Paddington", GWR stations (and Network Rail run Reading) say "London Paddington".

How wonderful to see my old home station! I used to catch the 08:25 limited stop train from that very platform in the early 1970s. I'd ride the train to Maidenhead to go to school. It was a commuter train that started at Henley on the beach branch line, then crossed onto the London bound "slow line". Limited stops after Maidenhead. I don't know what class the trains were, but they were multi-set through corridor DMUs. Thanks for reviving the memories 👍

Having seen these trains just parked on the side during several journeys from Reading to Paddington, it's nice to see them finally running. Important to realise - there will still be 2tph off-peak between Paddington and Didcot Parkway via Reading from 16th December going forward - serving Ealing Broadway, Hayes & Harlington, West Drayton, Slough, Maidenhead, Twyford and Reading (then all-stations to Didcot) operated by GWR and utilising the better quality Class 387 units. All good - a purple frenzy - but why might the centre door not open, as per the message at 12:07...?
@DavidWood25 жыл бұрын
Platform curvature is the reason. On a curved platform, there might be too large a gap between the central door and the platform. At a guess, the issue is with Paddington's high level platforms, which curve at the country end. If so, I believe the problem will resolve there when the low level platform opens in the tunnel. If it affects other stations (other than Liverpool Street, which I don't know well), they will continue to be affected after the central section opens.
