For the rear since it’s tapered I think you should make some low profile fenders to match the general shape/idea of the front fenders. The front fenders stay straight while the hood tapers to the front. Do the same/opposite to the rear. I think it would look sweet

The FJ45 brings memories of our years working in Africa. Particularly in Botswana in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The FJ’s were the work horse of government, medical, farmers, and fun off road safari. It has the fuel consumption on the fender- 4.5 kilometers per liter. Utah looks more like Southern Africa than northeast Pennsylvania. The kind of hills where Matt is looks like Lesotho.Botswana has the desert sands to navigate. We worked there with a community development NGO. Keep the fun KZbins coming!

Hey Paul, that rear bumper looks nice and I get the extension to protect your bed/body. I think it would look more complete it you wrapped the ends around the body a bit... Like add a triangular section right next to the ends. Protects the body even more, and can be used as a step to get in/on the bed from the side. Also would match the rock sliders on the sides. I usually don't like "2x4" bumpers but this looks nice! Oh yeah and Merry Christmas to the whole family!

You left out one step on your bolt extraction that makes all the difference. Space the nut you weld about a washer thickness off the flat surface the bolt is broke off in. Weld on your nut. As soon as you finish welding, take the ball end of a ballpeen hammer and hit the center of the nut some. Decently hard. Allow it to start cooling on its on, no coolant or penetrating oil. Start taking the nut each direction very softly with a wrench just like you did. When you back it out using the hammer method,.look at the edge of the threads. They will be rolled from where you drove it down with the hammer. The threads are the first to get to the highest temperature and the hammer blows make the threads give up by rolling their edges over. The hammer strikes make this method way more effective. I really like your channel.

I would use the overhang on your rear bumper and tie some bar work from there across the rear fenders to your sliders. You are going to lean that thing up against something, might as well give the fenders some rigidity. Love everything you have done, will be the baddest fj45 in the land.

Simple and functional. Plus it matches the look and feel of these old rigs. Nothing worse than a Classic FJ, Jeep or Pickup with a gigantic Iron Cross style bumper. I need to get to work on my own. To install my receiver I cut out the rear most cross member (Not an FJ) and replaced it with a 2X3 square tube with the receiver and safety chain loops welded on. I then gusseted the ends so it was more like a weight distribution hitch but welded on. So now the receiver is tucked up nicely for a better departure angle but I need a bumper to complete the back end.
