Yes dynamic range is something to consider but do you have something else to suggest in this category of money primarily for photography that has better sensor and dynamic range

If we take out the personal preferences. Sony A7II or III is your best bet. Canon R is also very good. RP dynamic range is something to consider but it’s still very good!

Ah I remember getting this camera with the 24-105mm RF lens, which luckily has extra stabilisation. Anyways, the picture quality is super nice and also comparable to the R6 and R5 in a few scenarios till this day, which is quite impressive. Great video!

Yo as a RP shooter myself here, have you tried the Neutral Picture Profile? hope your aware of it. Its the flattest picture profile the RP comes with, from there (and this applies to most cameras) you then lower the in body sharpness to 0 and contrast, saturation, and color tone all the way down to -4. This solves for most of the DR problems in my experience though not to 100% as you can't make up for the lack of DR that the camera comes with. The R6 and R5 don't have this problem due to C-log. This is my opinion is the best way to correct the problem without the need of downloading Cinestyle, although its a great solution. Great overview of the Cameras flaws though. For 1K you cant go wrong with it though!

Yooo! Yes i was aware of the neutral picture profile and i actually tried it out first before i went to cinestyle (I should’ve mentioned that, my bad) But i just wasn’t satisfied with it IMO. But it’s not bad by any means. Just my preference! Yeah i agree! For 1K you can’t go wrong for sure. Till this day the best camera i’ve owned!

what do you call flat picture profile ? Isn'it just raw format ? I also have the impression that the RP has a poor dynamic range. However, I don't have another camera to compare it to

Flat profile has to do with the color profile that’s in your settings. I use a “Flat” cor profile called “Cinestyle” that makes it easier to color grade like C-Log or S-log is. Also the canon rp doesn’t have the best dynamic range (I don’t use ND filters which can help drastically). I have a canon eos rp vs canon eos r5 video where you can see the difference! Check it out

You can buy a refurbished Eos RP for $800.00 but for the R5 is close to $4000. It's not a surprise one is over 4x the price. Buying an entry level mirrorless only buys you so much.

Great video! I am looking at moving to an eos RP. I HAVE A 6D and m100. I’m looking for something to consolidate into one camera. Looking at the RP and m50. Is this a big difference over the m50?

I would go for the RP! But the price should be considered as well. with the M50 being around the 500-600 dollar range while the rp is 1000+ dollar range (Both prices depend on where you buy them) Also depends on what you want to do (Photography or videography) But the M50 really holds his own but the RP takes the edge, in my opinion!

Man! Your transitions between the topic is simple, but just amazing!! Do you take notes while you plan this, or do you have this all in your head? Regarding the RP I definitely agree with you. I think the compromises of the RP is the price for an entry level full frame camera around 1k. I think there is still no competitor with a full frame camera in that price range. That being said, if I had to get a camera today, I would prefer a used EOS R instead of a new RP - still has the 4K crop, but other flaws would solved 😀 Amazing work as always, mate! Thanks man, i appreciate that! I’m thinking about making a video about the way how i plan my videos! But the short answer is i write them all down. With a video this long and all the transitions you have to make sure you do them right or else it won’t work! I agree, the EOS R is a better option. Like you said, the flaws are solved withouth the 4K but that’s in my opinion not that huge of a deal! What camera do you have? I hope you finish your video so i can check yours out as well!
