I am a progressing beginner who tried a regular camber board and regular bindings. Done that for a while and had the worst experience as a newcomer to snowboarding. I decided I wanted to try something different been overweight and at my upper age spectrum(46) so I bought a Flow board in Rocker System and a pair of Flow Fuse with Fusion straps completed the set up with Flow boa boots. The best choice of my beginner snowboard life as I saw myself progressing so quick I couldn't believe it. Truth be told you need to pay attention to proper setup before you hit the mountain and practice the right way for rear entry bindings to make your life easy. Now on my second season and I can kick in and lock the highback as soon as my ass is off the chair lift and straight down the mountain. No hassles really set them and forget them. Flow had some videos about how to strap in various situations that really helped. Now if it wasn't for this setup I would probably still be on my ass on the slopes and not get to enjoy this beautiful world of snowboarding . Personal experience here.

Love Flows. I've had a few different pairs over the years. Active Strap Tech was a game changer; newer Flows are so easy to get in and out of. Plus the edge to edge performance is a good as it gets without going to a hard boot set up.

Flow's have been the most comfortable and easiest binding I've ever used. I won't ride anything else. I'm usually halfway down the run by the time the rest of the wet ass jibronies I'm with are even strapped in! You'll come to realize how frustrating it is waiting for all your turkey friends riding traditional bindings. Now I know how a skier feels waiting for his buddy who snowboards with traditional bindings. You really get sick of waiting.

Solid review. Flows lifer here with NX2s on all my boards. Gets you the hole shot straight off the chair on pow days even ahead of skiers fuckin with their buckles.

Best binding on the market after you get it customized! But it is kind of tedious to customize it

Only thing you forget to mention is that the strap goes up a little, when the highback goes down, which makes stepping in easier than previous models.

Really great and solid choice. I've been riding them for years. Their lighter than I thought after I got some other bindings and held them next to each other. I have this model. It's really nice. The base plate will flex side to side a bit which is nice, but they are not surfy, you can still drive into the sides of the binding and flex the board. I do like the kind of locked in feel I get from a tow strap. So I might try the flow hybrid straps next time. Only thing I wish they would do, is get on the trend of less base plate contact, and center it more around the disc.

So many of the reviews I see are "this is a good all mountain ". Have things progressed so much that the need for specialized gear has gone a bit out the window?

When you mention big boys at the end, approximately what's the weight you're thinking? I'm a pioneer boarder and started back in the early 80's when nobody let us on. Getting back into it later in life and your videos are thorough. Much appreciated.

Do you eat a flapjack stack that could feed half of Sudan? Do you shop at the men's Ginormous and Sasquatch? Is your seat setting on your car so far back when someone gets in they can't even reach the button to move it forward? That's the big boy setting.

It really comes down to what you want out of the binding performance-wise. The regular is going to be softer that's for sure over the GT, so if you need a little added oomph when you're carving I'd say get the GT.

Ive just ordered a pair of these. Id say im abit more than a beginner but still quite new. Do these makes a difference without the toe straps? Im used to having my toe strap pretty much at the end on my boots. If that makes sense.

Are the front straps supposed to be quite loose? I tried to kick my boot in, but it wouldn't go far enough to get the highback up. There would be too much friction between the rubber of the binding and that of the boot.

I just got my K2 Cinch TS 2020 from Amazon. I've had flows before, the cheap ones, and my friend made a comment on how STIFF and HARD the highbacks are. They are like a fucking brick on your calf. Last 'easy entry bindings' I will try out... Unless those GNU PSYCH bindings tickle my fancy... Oh well, Im thinking their a waste of money IMO.

I started using Flow NX2 Fusions a few years ago and they gave me the worst foot pain I have ever had. I couldnt make it down an entire run without having to sit down. At first, I didn't realize it was binding that was causing me so much pain because I had new boots the same season. To be fair to Flow, I have bad feet in general, but this is a pain I have never experienced with a traditional bindings. As far as performance, I didn't think I lost much at all. However, it's not something I can use. Hopefully, my story helps others who might experience problems.

Oh yeah, those Highbacks are bricks. Let alone, how their straps grip your boot with little give/padding. My left knee still feels the pain 3 years later.

@@sasquatchcrew not sure if the highjacks were the problem. All I know is I had pain all along my arches and forefoot. I thought maybe the forefoot in boot was too tight. I went down this huge rabbit hole chasing different arch supports, boots, fittings and fitment accessories but didn't realize it was the binding all along.

I have come across a lot of hate using flows bindings. You have explained how they work properly with emphasis on SETUP! They fuse are good for free style, u want more response go for the nx2 base plate (do a review for the nx2-got please) Great job man! 🤘

@@Snowhead38 Kevin's saying that his point of the video is that this is a good entry model. If you want less expensive, then try the Flow Alphas or the new Fenix. But those flex a ton more and depending how often you ride, you will outgrow them. So $$$ for $$$ in the long run, these Fuse binding will save you cabbage because you can ride them well into an intermediate/advanced level. But if you just want to see what all the fuss is about, try the Fenix. Just know they're gonna flex more. I only recommend the Alphas for kids or people with small feet (

Angry Snowboarder there is always someone really good riding something and/or is sponsored by someone :-) Here in Europe just never saw someone on flows who was really good, but for sure there was someone somewhere :-) I guess Flow tech works, but for me it’s just „different“, would even prefer the K2 Cinch instead

Who are these people that can't strap in? I get beginners not being able to strap in standing up but just not strap in at all? Who the fuck are these people? Flow bindings require you to be able to stand up to use them the way you're supposed to so they take a little more practice to get into so they're definitely not a beginner binding. Once my last set broke in I could ride off the lift, flick the highback down with my toe, kick my foot into the binding then just reach down to lock the highback all without stopping. That shit was great on cat tracks, skate until you get a little speed then strap in on the fly. T-bars same thing, skate up one foot out then strap in once you get going, on a long or steep tow being able to shift your weight around more on the board or change it up and ride switch was great. I always found them way more comfortable. I tried going back to a set of Union Force bindings and I fucking hated them. I felt like I had to crank the shit out of them to get the same level of response.

Barry Kennedy Me...been riding 23years, got ostearthritis in both knees (the reason I swapped from skis to snowboard) & limited bend, Consequently Strap ins became too difficult to mess around with and a PITA. Been on step-ins since 2001, Initially Switch hi-backs and more recently K2 cinch CTXs, loved both the switch and the Cinches. Spent all of January in Austria and my CTXs are becoming end of life. K2s are rare in the UK this year or I would have had another pair and haven’t seen any in Austria so I’m giving these a try in March on my Lib TRS & my 2 Pacifiers so it’s either going to be 🤗 or 😢&🤬. Hope that answers your question on why I don’t want to strap....Oh and I’m 60 😊🏂
