Yes the flying dust bin was a round that was designed specifically for reducing reinforced concrete emplacements and heavy steel bunker doors. It was essentially a large canister of explosive fired from a tank. Apparently it was incredibly effective.

Yea, a big stubby mortar instead of a regular tank gun, hilarious looking, but effective. 11.5 inch bore, 28 lbs projectile.. BOOOM!

“Flying Dustbin” comes from the Churchill AVRE (Armored Vehicle, Royal Engineers.) It shot a very large spigot-mortar-type projectile, mainly meant for obstacles such as bunkers, pillboxes, MG nests and defilade/dirt embankments. Apparently, it’s so useful for it’s explosive charge that it was used even in the Centurion AVRE against the Iraqis in 1991. Edit: *It’s a 165mm gun with an explosive charge of 64 pounds*
