+jason antigua It was a pint of beer and it had to be opened in front of the prison officer's and poured into a plastic jug . They used to get around it by injecting vodka into an Orange . A couple of pieces of fruit were allowed . It was only the surge in drugs during the 80's that forced the Home Office to curtail the privilege.

Never been in any serious legal trouble. But I'd love to know just how different the old bill were behaving because the cameras were there, back then? Even for the daft bit of bother I was in as a teenager in the 80's, mainly for causing trouble at the football, I was treated far more harshly than they were treating this armed robber.
@tilerman Жыл бұрын
I got into a street fight in 1985 when i was 20. It really wasn't over anything and should not have turned into what it turned into. It was just 4 people having a scrap when some other young men whom i knew from my estate but weren't my friends just happened to be walking by and jumped into lend a hand as it were. And that's when things got serious, it was well known these lads were nasty bastards, bottles got broke and 2 people got seriously hurt, one very badly with lifetime injuries. Took myself off to the Police station as i knew word was out and wanted to explain myself. And that's when 2 years of hurt followed. In the station the detectives were hard bastards, had me up against a wall with a fist held back screaming into my face, shoved from wall to wall and the verbal abuse. They pinned the whole lot on me because they had no on else. They came to my house, my workplace and generally hassled me relentlessly. Ended up in Court a year and a bit later and it was a 3 day hearing, i was up for GBH, ABH and affray, serious charges. Got off the GBH and Affray and got done for ABH. Something i remember vividly was the court case and how exhausting it was, listening to the Police make up their bullshit which was all lies. Hands down worst period of my life, i lost weight, became paranoid and depressed, a horrible experience.
@grizcuz Жыл бұрын
@@tilerman Yep, that pretty much tallies with my experiences in the 80's. I'm not saying all the police were nasty bastards, because I met a few that weren't. But they had some officers who seemed to actually enjoy hurting people without any fear of consequences. And for the lads I've known who ended up in jail back then, they said the prison officers were as bad if not worse. I know it can be a tricky job, but they can't have people in the police who are in it to hurt people.
