I feel kills mostly happening off screen is the most accurate way they could have gone about it. Most “graphic” scenes in the games are either stylized pixelation, or off screen. The games are mostly implied violence. You don’t see Mike get stuffed. You don’t see Mike (the other one, who may or may not actually be the same one) get scoped. You see an animatronic, or a scooper respectively come at you, then it cuts.The books are different in that way and often suffer from that, (the m-preg story for example). This is in no way saying his opinion is wrong, opinions are opinions after all. This comment has went on way too long.

One of my biggest gripes with this movie was how underutilized William Afton was. The character's performance was brilliant during his pre-reveal scenes. You could feel his social awkwardness, and it convinced me he got his job became it gave him power over people, where he otherwise would be mistreated by those people. You can of course then reckon that this is why he kidnaps snd kills children as well. He could easily have been an intimidated presence through the film, and you could've had an element of him taking noticing Mike getting closer to the truth, and then taking actions to prevent that. A real missed opportunities to dig deeper into what sadly ended up being a shallow murder mystery, where the answer is given in the same scene as the first hints. What I did like about the film was the humanisation of the animatronics. People forgot that they're broken children. So i appreciated that the film went all out on them being.cute and generally friendly at times. It was a good way to counteract years of horror.

I went with a group of people and I think that made the movie experience way better. We all went in cosplay and we saw a cute couple wearing Freddy ears and Bonnie ears. It was a great experience. So many fnaf fans (mostly on Twitter), have been harassing people who didn't like the film and it's genuinely embarrassing, people are allowed to have opinions, and the film isn't perfect. Also I personally disagree about the acting being bad, I thought everyone was fine, it was the dialogue in some scenes that wasn't good. What wonky dialogue and cgis? It’s trash, it doesn’t hit the reason why it’s called “five nights at Freddy’s” first off. Its whole plot is like Halloween holidays specials, made for kids, weak plots, underwhelming hype. They don’t utilise movie set well, the thieves part are miserable cause somehow one of them important ones was forgotten like nothing happens. Bad introduction to fnaf franchise, no mysteries at all accept fnaf 2, golden Freddy didn’t appear, no locking doors and surviving from animatronics, instead they went for the kill easily. 2 things they adopted well, the footage scene of introducing fazbear pizzeria and movie opening scene of arcade retro style. It is a pretty shoddy movie if you're completely unaware of FNAF. But I think for the approach they took it was pretty good. They set up Mike's situation well, I think the movie just overly focused on him to the point the climax was a bit out of nowhere. I also think making Mike Schmidt an outsider and combining Michael Afton and Vanessa into a new character was smart. You do need characters for the protagonist to interact with and I think Mike being Michael Afton would have just made things even more overly complicated and confusing. I'm also used to both FNAF and Blumhouse movies being goofy and kind of bad so it didn't really bother me that much. I thought Josh Hutcherson was good though. I think Mike was supposed to come across as perpetually exhausted and I did find myself getting invested in him. This movie was also only made for 25 million. So they are making BANK. And hopefully that means higher budget sequels.

Even as someone who knows all of the lore, this movie sucks. The movie is unwatchable for people who don’t get the references or are over the mental age of 11. I went in with low expectations, but honestly, I LOVED it. I was scared they were gonna go full on sci-fi by introducing insanely unrealistic tech for the time period and having the animatronics talking and moving like normal people since I guess that's what the franchise is all about now, but no, they actually went back to that classic mysterious feeling you get from the things themselves clearly being inanimate and having limited movement, but at the same time seemingly being controlled by an intelligent force yet unable to communicate in any way. I didn't mind the movie being goofy occasionally either, I mean come on, this is the same franchise where you get attacked by Trash and the Gang. We all screamed at the cameos and references, and god, when the credits music started playing, it really just hit me that I had just watched a whole MOVIE made to embrace and celebrate the online legacy of this small indie game turned internet phenomenon that I grew up with, ON THE BIG SCREEN. That's not possible not even today. Like, if "unrealistic tech" is a deal breaker for you, that already happened.
@uvuvwevwevweonyetenyevweug6314 Жыл бұрын
@@cidevant002 Facial recognition softwares have existed since the 60s. Accurate facial recognition on 90s animatronics is a stretch obviously, but it's not TOO over the top... It's treated as super high-tech and it has a logical explanation, they're connected to a criminal database, plus it's just like, a throwaway line from the phone guy, it doesn't interfere with the 'uncanniness' at all. Sister Location is where it started to get stupid imo, before that the horror derived from the animatronics looking inanimate but acting in strange ways, almost as if someone was controlling them and trying to communicate through their limited movements, but in SL they can just talk which is super lame, and in Security Breach they straight up move fluently and walk around like normal people while spitting one-liners to themselves, at that point you might as well replace the animatronics with people in suits. I hate the exaggerated sci-fi stuff because the entire point of the series is taken away, none of the horror is derived from them being robots or seemingly possessed anymore, and instead of leaving room for wonder and speculation, every mystery needs to be explained by introducing some sort of ridiculously outlandish sci-fi concept like exact robotic/digital clones of real people.

As a fan, I can’t say that I’m satisfied with this movie. I agree with most of your points to be honest. Although I do think Matthew Lillard did a great job for the little screen time he had in the movie. I think this movie main problem is the pacing. The first hour of the movie was extremely slow and boring. They kept covering the disappearance of Mike’s younger brother over and over again to the point where like you said you don’t even care anymore at that point. That entire plot line literally went nowhere as we never even learned why William Afton killed him in the first place, where is he now? Did he turn his brother into one of the animatronics? Literally they do nothing with it. Also, the plot point with aunt Jane trying to Get custody of Abby literally goes nowhere. She l gets killed by golden Freddy at the end of the movie and her corpse is laying in Mike’s living room. And Mike doesn’t get arrested or charged with her murder? He has a motive. It just doesn’t make any sense and Vanessa‘s character? It was just literally there just to be a guide, telling the audience, the basic premise of what was going on, but she never goes into too much detail because I guess this movie doesn’t want to actually explain the story and the lore to new fans. Also, the twist reveal that Vanessa is William Afton’s daughter was just out of nowhere. And they don’t do anything with it. They don’t even seem to explain why she’s even helping her dad, and also why did he stab his own daughter? Yes, I know Afton is evil but to stab your own child like that just seems like something really went on between the two of them that they didn’t show in the movie. The last 15 minutes of the movie were probably the best part despite the problem of how there’s no blood and it’s not that scary. In the game the spring lock scene is genuinely horrific. I don’t think Josh Hutcherson did a bad job in this movie. I just think that they didn’t give his character enough to work with. For most of this movie he’s literally just sleeping and having dreams about the dead children. A better twist reveal at the end of the movie should’ve been that he is actually William Afton‘s son, or perhaps he is Vanessa’s brother. A really good twist ending would be that garret became the puppet. Maybe they are saving this all for the sequel but why couldn’t they have just fit it into the film? They wasted too much time focusing on garret’s kidnapping to the point where they forgot to actually explain the important parts of the story/ the pieces of the story that make it all make sense. EDIT 3.12.24 OK so I just re-watched the movie for the third time and honestly it’s even worse than I actually thought it was. When I first saw the movie I thought it was fine but I was still disappointed but yeah it was fine, but after re-watching it again it’s honestly worse than I thought. The film clearly does not live up to the games in the slightest and the movie doesn’t have the same atmosphere that the games did. The first four games had a perfect atmosphere. You could feel these robots looking at you and almost staring at you through the screen. When you looked around the pizzeria, you could sense that there was more to the story and more history behind this pizzeria than meets the eye. This movie not only wasn’t scary but completely missed the entire point of the games. If I were to rewrite the five nights at Freddy’s movie, I would make it set in the early 1970s when William began his career. Explain his backstory why he does what he does and why he is so evil. Talk about how he became so evil how did he go from a normal family man to a murderous psychopath? Then it would cut to the early 90s a security guard name to Mike Schmidt who is around 25 years old gets a job at Freddy Fazbear’s pizzeria. He is hard on money, and this was his really his only option for work. He has a 7 year-old daughter named Abby and a girlfriend who is four years older than him named Vanessa. After a few days of working at Freddy Fazbear’s, Mike starts to realize that the robots are not normal. At one point one of the robots knocks him, unconscious drags him into the back room and tries to stuff him into one of the suits with spring locks. After this encounter, he quits the job and calls the police But the police laughing his face and think that it’s a joke screams and tells them that the robots tried to kill him but the police wash it off is just a crazy 25-year-old kid who is high or something.

Finally someone who gets it! The thing is the visuals and set design was sick, so it's a shame the writing wasn't very good like at all... none of it made sense. I feel like if they had just stopped trying to explain lore and just made a cool movie with actual fun scenes - and not scenes that talk your ear off - it would've been way better. We really don't need any more lore for something that doesn't even make sense. A lot of people only like it for the references, but personally I can't appreciate the references when the movie itself isn't any good. Most of the plot points went nowhere, like you said. I don't know it just really didn't feel like FNAF. People are saying 'it's for the fans!' but personally it was kind of a disappointment and had a lot of wasted potential :( It wasn't very scary either, they removed the key points of the FNAF games: that you are alone, trying your best to save your power as you fear what will come if you lose it, the fear that you may be going crazy and seeing things and that nobody is going to believe you, so you just have to come back each night. People are saying 'so what? you wanted him to stare at a screen the whole movie?' like no, him moving around the pizzaria would've been alright as long as he can't leave or something. Hell, a cool scene of him breaking the animatronics would've been epic for a climax, they could've played that 'Die in A Fire' song for it too, or maybe he sets the pizzaria on fire. Maybe he lands himself in prison at the end or something. It would've been weird but not as weird as everybody just ignoring the Aunt's corpse on his floor! Also, the scenes not taking place in Freddy's were really dragged out, isn't this meant to be 'Five Nights at Freddy's'? But he just sleeps throughout one of the nights? ANOTHER THING THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY: why on Earth do the animatronics work for William? Yeah, sure, I'm supposed to believe those ghosts just forgot about all that trauma they went through because of a drawing... what? Isn't it the point of the FNAF games that they want to get revenge? It gets rid of their drive and reason to be the way they are. I guess they just kill people for fun then? And what even was that whole 'wE wAnT abBy!!' thing? Why do you want Abby? That was a very weak motive for the main antagonists of the movie... There's more I'd like to say but it's been getting way too long now. Overall, so much potential, but the result? BIG FAT MESS. I may be too harsh and stuff, but this is just my opinion. I think they had so much to work with but threw it all in the bin. Why add these random butchered characters when there are very fleshed out and loved characters in the franchise? Why are the relationships so wonky? WHY IS WILLIAM VANNESSAS DAD? Anyway, that's all, I'm very tired now.

@@Romifetti omg everything you’ve said is spot on. I 100% agree. The movie would’ve been a lot better if it had just been mainly focusing on the horror elements of staying in the pizzeria for five nights just like the game. Figuring out the dark history and Having the animatronic characters slowly creep up on you and staring at you through the cameras. perhaps they could’ve even fit in that plot point of Mike taking pills so that he would think that he’s going crazy and blame the robots coming to life on his addiction to pills and think he was hallucinating. Also, I think the whole losing custody of Abby thing was not a good enough motivation for Mike to keep coming back to the pizzeria I mean, I understand he needed the job to make himself look good for the court. I think a better motive for him needing that job, so desperately would be that he’s low on money, and if he doesn’t get enough money, he’s going to lose his house, his car, and then eventually lose custody of Abby and he would have nobody. Like you said, the movie had so much to work off. The books, the games and even fan fictions would’ve had a better storyline than this movie. Also, I think one thing that they definitely should have done differently was the big reveal of William Afton being the bad guy. At the end they’re like oh William Afton is my dad and he killed all those children like it’s some sort of big reveal when literally 95% of the people seeing this movie already know who William Afton is and the actor playing him lol. What they should’ve done was just established from the beginning that William Afton was the owner of the pizzeria, it was big in the 80s and then nobody has heard from him in years. Then Mike slowly discovers that William Afton is the killer of the children by talking with Vanessa, who reveals to him the secrets. Also, one thing I noticed about Vanessa‘s character is that obviously she is a police officer but yet she’s basically helping her psycho father, but also doesn’t want to help him? I was assuming that she became a police officer, because she feels guilt somehow about the murders her dad committed and became an officer to help children instead of hurting more people, perhaps maybe she was a witness to the murders her dad did, and has been traumatized by them so that would explain why she is so defensive about keeping Abby away from the pizzeria. Also, I think something else they could have done was have aunt Jane working with William Afton perhaps William Afton offers her a huge sum of money to get Mike to get a job at the pizzeria so that he can kill him but then also they don’t explain why William Afton is even targeting Mike’s family I mean they don’t even explain why he killed Garrett? And yes, it makes no sense. Why the heck the animatronics want Abby To make her like them? That literally makes no sense because in the movie they literally have the animatronics building a fort and acting like little kids but then they also want to kill her? It makes no sense literally so dumb however, I still enjoyed seeing Matthew Lillard as Afton he was easily the best part of the movie. i don’t know I just think this movie could’ve been a lot better. It’s so disappointing eight years of waiting and this is what we get. And I’m being totally completely honest saying this, I think I could’ve made a better movie than this. I mean I could’ve wrote a better storyline, and script because the writing in this movie was just really really bad.

@@QueenAvacado Nah man it's just so refreshing to see people who actually care about good storylines and characters. You're so right, they could've gone the extra steps to flesh out the characters to make their actions actually understandable. And yeah, it also doesn't make sense why William just randomly kidnaps Garrett and kills him.. they were at like a camping site or something? Why on earth was William even there what the hell? There's clearly no established motives in this film. Wouldn't the animatronics not want to put Abby through what they've been through? Why is their whole trauma been erased when the whole point of them is that they have unfinished business and that they cannot rest until they get their revenge? I think they should've just gone with the original plot, obviously they wouldn't have to go too deep into it and they could've just focused on the horror aspects of the actual five nights. Also, I don't want to sound rude and egocentric, but I've literally just come up with so many ideas for a FNAF 1,2 and 3. They have elements based on the original lore but don't follow it completely. It's not very deep or anything it's just kinda for fun, but it has some cool scenes in it. I've said myself that some edgy teen creepypasta writer could've done a better job with the script. It's one thing when a movie is bad.. when it's totally boring, however, that's worse in my opinion.
@QueenAvacado Жыл бұрын
@@Romifetti I’ve seen a lot of people online saying the reason why William killed Garrett was because it’s possible that Mike’s father is this universe’s version of Henry Emily, and that he kills Garrett to get revenge on Mike’s dad, which leads to both of the parents dying and Abby and Mike become orphans. It would make sense to but they literally don’t explain anything and we get zero backstory. At the same time, isn’t the reason why William kills Henry Emily‘s child in the first place is because William’s son (crying child) gets killed by Henry’s Fred bear robot at a birthday party? And that leads to William going crazy, leading to him, killing children etc and trying to bring his son back. But… in this universe apparently afton only has one child.. Vanessa? So what the heck are William aftons motives for killing the kids and garret?? He has a living daughter and they don’t tell us if he has other kids sooooo yeah idk. 🤷♀️ I’ve seen fans online in straight up denial about this movie and clearly they have been saying this movie is amazing/good when we all know it’s not.

@@QueenAvacadoWhat also bugs me is when they say “it’s for the fans!”. When you actually know the atmosphere and meaning of the original games, it can be much more disappointing when it’s all wasted and gone down the drain. I know it’s dramatic, but FNAF is a very meaningful franchise as it’s very unique and is an inspiration for many games. To have these 8 or so years of people creating amazing videos, theories, songs, animations, art, cosplays, fan games, stories and more lead to this mediocre movie is beyond disappointing. Especially when the creators of this movie have had more time and money to really make something good. Did it have to be a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece? No! Could the creators have spent a little more time capturing the atmosphere and essence of the original games, understanding the characters and their developments? Definitely! I think some people defend this movie because it’s FNAF. Most people have only pointed out the references. Like, yeah, it’s the FNAF movie, the whole dang thing is the reference! Yeah, it’s neat to have KZbinr’s featured in the movie and other little things that we got.. but it’s not enough to make the movie good in my opinion. Foundation should come before decoration. I think some people are just really happy to have this fandom recognised with these sort of inside jokes and references we get. However I feel like that’s just a tactic to get people to hype the movie up more than it’s worth being hyped. I’m glad that people are able to enjoy it, but I think we deserved more effort put in. The original story and characters are special, they should be appreciated more.

I didn't expect it to be lore accurate. However, the story was baffling. The whole thing with the aunt becomes irrelevant halfway through. The cop could be taken out and not much would change. Mike seemed interesting at the start when he punched that dude in the fountain, but then he has no personality. The dream sequences all felt the same. The animatronics building the fort was just cringey. They also look out of place outside Freddy's. As a fan I didn't expect The Godfather, just a cheesy movie for the fans. It just wasn't though. The jumpscares were half asked, the references feel forced. I just wish the movie would've picked a side, serious horror or campy horror.

I speak as someone who is not a fnaf fan in the slightest but knows the basics of the lore; I was forced to watch this movie by my friends, and honestly, while I definitely agree with most of what you said, I still liked it and had a lot of fun! It's the fnaf movie, I'm not gonna have absurd expectations, I expected it to be either a shitty horror movie or a boring reference fest like the mario movie, and we got kinda a mix of the two, but with the mentality of not taking it seriously I felt the movie was so goofy and stupid it turned into something endearing and fun! The story wasn't well executed and the animatronics (while amazing and really well done) looked kinda stupid when they were making angry faces or glowing red, but the campy-ness just added to it on top of the intentionally goofy moments, like, come on we're talking about a movie where the fucking FNAF characters build a fort using tables and chairs, it is not serious. TLDR: it was goofy and fun and I liked it, 7.5/10, the sans=ness joke was funny and having TLT in the credits rocked. Probably would've been worse had I watched it alone.

- “The film is going in a different direction from the games.” And yet you need to understand the lore in order to understand the new direction or changes made to the game lore in this movie? The logic is extremely flawed. - “The fort scene was supposed to reinforce the idea that the animatronics are still the ghosts of children.” The fact that they don’t see Abby as a threat and friendly with her, along with them being influenced by and like drawing pictures should be more than enough to point that out. Heck, The Silver Eyes got it across while still keeping them creepy. - “Y’all just wanted two hours of a guy looking at cameras.” No. Many just wanted the film to feel more scary because it’s very lightweight horror. I’m not saying they should’ve made like the FNAF VHS videos, but a lot of the dread and tense atmosphere of the first game, which this movie pulls a lot from, is lacking. The only real time where there was a sense of dread or tension was the cold open with the security guard. - “It’s for the fans.” Aside from the animatronics, the set, and easter eggs, there’s not a lot for fans to grasp onto story wise. There’s the restaurant, the missing children, Afton along with his springlock failure, but that’s really it. I’m fine with them not including Fredbear’s or The Bite (Although I do think the inclusion could’ve given Afton better motivation fir his crimes) but the information we do learn is delivered through basic exposition via Vanessa. This film’s B plot shouldn’t have been the Aunt Jane custody battle nonsense. It should have been Mike trying to unravel Freddy’s history and actively going out of his way to learn of the missing children. He should be pushing the plot forward, not the other way around.

I understand why critic scores are so low because the movie feels so disjointed at times when it comes to the plot and for a good minute it felt like the movie wasn’t going anywhere. Overall there are some awesome moments and moments that will make you scratch your head. All the flaws aside, it’s simply just good and nothing more.

The animatronics were fantastic but honestly I just wanted more horror. Afton's entrance was the one time I felt legitimately intimidated, and the springlock scene was satisfying as well. Hopefully with the amount they made from this they can work with a much bigger budget for the sequel.
@subjectdelta44 Жыл бұрын
I was NOT expecting to watch the springtrap death scene live on camera so I definitely flipped out when that happened. I went in with expectations of a mid movie and I think I overall walked away happier with it than I expected, though I wish they'd stuck closer to the lore and kept it focused around the pizzeria, rather than adding a family drama only tangentially related. BUT I was so, so impressed with the animatronics and loved seeing them on screen, the morbid part of me enjoyed watching purple guy get his karma on screen in front of me (the original springlock failure cutscene is the only one that stuck with me all these years), and since I wasn't taking it seriously in the first place I enjoyed when it got goofy as hell. As a huge horror fan I definitely agree that I wish they'd kept focus on what made the game so interesting (ie, slow building tension, fear of being hunted in a confined space, intrigue of hints of lore that slowly build up, morbid fascination with creepy animatronics that may or may not have rotting corpses still stuffed inside, learning about forgotten/unknown tragedies, etc.). Like it definitely would've objectively been a much stronger movie had they kept that focus and I wish they'd utilized the animatronics a lot more. But on an emotional level... I didn't expect a serious horror film so I was satisfied with the goofy one we got. Wasn't a great movie but I don’t think it was awful either

The fnaf fanbase is the most delusional cult like fanbase I have ever seen. Their coping mechanism is, "the critics don't like it because they don't understand fnaf" is the highest tier coping I have seen. The point of a movie is to adapt a series so the viewer doesn't have to play all the terrible games. Example one piece Netflix. I first thought it was a very odd choice to create a horror movie with PG-13 rating. But I realized that the games themselves don't show much gore--if there's any, it's in 8-bit form. I think it's hard to simulate fear from the games that mostly caused by player's ("your") action into a script written not by "you". Even if they slimmed down the number of locations into just security room, whether you have thought in the back of your mind saying "the protagonist's gonna survive 'til the end" or not, it's gonna be like other let's play videos. It feels like the only way to make the movie "worthy to be made" is to make at least its format different than the games. I can't say if it's better to have the movie being 70% lore and 30% scare instead of the other way around like the games for "different experience" sake, but at least it seems like a better way to introduce FNAF to my mom, whose scare tolerance and gaming skill are no longer "young". I honestly also don't have strong heart for any FNAF games except for FNAF3, but I thoroughly enjoyed how much the games' elements were transferred well into film (like the "patrol" pattern of each animatronics from FNAF1) and how much the film differs from the game. Idk why I think of this film as "a comfort-family movie in horror genre" (or whatever genre you want to put it in). It feels like a movie that don't have intention to compete with other works and just want us to have fun together. Like, actually making someone who's not familiar at all with the games be able to have fun with someone who is, not isolating them. This film could've taken the novel's route by having new humans and new lore while still having Freddy and co. as the main stars. Thus, they can have different ways to scare. Either way, I personally don't know what the main intention for making this film is. But it's a comforting movie for me and my mom ._.

@olsongc8422 Жыл бұрын
The problem with this is every critic so far as stated "their movie" when talking about the Animatronics, and in all honesty the Animatronics are just a backdrop in the overall story for the franchise. The relationship between Mike and Abby, Vanessa and William, the family drama and childhood trauma are all more in line with the actual story than Funny Animatronic Fox Go Boo. Yes, in the early games they featured more because that's gameplay, and that was the easiest way to handle things. Sure it could have been scarier, but I personally hate jump scares and I enjoyed the more creepy vibe that we were given. Do I wish each animatronic got a jump scare along with their iconic scream? Sure. We got it with Foxy, why not the other three? The issue also is there are a ton of critics out there (24 Frames of Nick NOT being one of them) that have straight up said "loyal fans will not like this movie". THAT is what fans are backlashing at...because now critics are telling them what they will and will not like. Also, this movie covers story beats that were revealed over 3 different games and adopted from different books. I agree you shouldn't need a vast knowledge of something to enjoy something, but some critics are saying "They never told me what happened to the five kids"....when seriously, the showed you what happened in the opening credits using 8-bit graphic cartoons. I'm sorry it wasn't spelled out for you in a crawling text.

Its only a fnaf movie in the sense that it has the animatronics in it and has some of the surface level iconography weve come to expect, like yes there were dead kids, yes we got springtrap, yes our protagonist is a nightguard, but they just arent handled correctly on screen to the point where it feels almost like self parody. This movie felt as though it was for the fans that come from security breach, the books, the gameplay-watcher and game theory videos, and not for us fans who played the classic games since the beginning and were terrified but hyped for more. I’ve read a lot of comments that state that this movie is an “alternative universe” and semi-based on the books, but I think that’s an excuse for a terrible and rushed movie. This movie should have sticked to the classic Fnaf game because that’s what made the fnaf franchise be an instant hit for millions of people thanks to its simple but unique horror, not because of the books or fort-building or Vanessa. Fair enough, all your points are valid and your opinion is your own that no one can take away from you. With that said, this movie seemingly worked for me, I liked Mike’s inner conflict with wanting to find the man who killed his brother but also wanting to keep his sister safe. I love how the pizzeria and animatronics represent being stuck in the past, in correlation to how Mike is stuck in his head. The ending, while a bit quick, was satisfying to me as it set up so much for the sequel, but completing Mike’s ark about letting go of the past and focusing on the present. Once again then though, you can dislike and trash this movie however much you please, it’s still your opinion, I just thought I’d share my opinion to maybe help you see what some of us others did. 8/10 would recommend.

Nope I completely disagree, this movie was a 4/10. I am an insane fan of fnaf and this movie had no scares just pure lore. This movie was so boring.

@@Wake.Up. Bro, this has been FNAF's most popular trait. Why even include mattpat if lore wasn't like 75% of Fnaf's popularity. If it was just for being scary then spooky house of Jumpscare is a better choice.
@Wake.Up. Жыл бұрын
@Tenshi04Akuma fnafs most popular trait is not it's lore lol. As much as you live in a bubble due to the internet it's clear people just enjoy the horror of it more. Compare videos between mattpats lore theories and fnaf let's players. Markiplier just playing the game has more views than any lore video mattpat has made.

Still can't let go the feeling of utter excitement when my fav character Freddy said "It's Fazbear time" one of the quotes of all cinema history.

Seeing the theater packed and people getting excited was pretty enjoyable and shaggy overacting is something i would be mad if it didnt happen one thing i was definitely more accepting on is some of the lines the soster says cause she literally talks and kinds sounds like my younger cousin so i think its one of those when your around someone like that you can believe it way more

there are plenty of PG to PG-13 horror films that are pretty effective, some examples including Cloverfield, The Ring, The Others, Insidious, Exorcism of Emily Rose, and fuck it, even Coraline. the problem with this film in particular is that they barely do anything with the *horror* aspect of this *horror film.* i’m not asking for more violence or more jumpscares but at least something that incites fear and tension. the games do tension and fear well because you don’t know why they move or what they want. you get little hints in backgrounds but that’s it. the phone guy doesn’t become an exposition depositor who explains why these robots are moving on their own. he intentionally dances around the real reason because he doesn’t the guard to quit the job. in the film, any and all potential fear is removed because Vanessa exists purely to dump exposition onto Mike and the audience.
@marcohidalgo1101 Жыл бұрын
You know your movie failed as a horror movie when Coraline, a PG-rated movie, is scarier.

If you're going to include an opening about the strikes, maybe do some more research beforehand. The studios were willing to sign a new contract that offered the actors everything they asked for. The only reason it fell through was because the guild asked for a $1 tax to be given by the studios for every subscriber signed up to their streaming service per year. Per subscriber means millions of dollars. The payment was to go to the guild with no explanation on what it was to be used for. The guild makes close to a billion dollars a year thanks to actor fees and dues. They do NOT need this money. They also asked studios to pass the tax onto the consumers which would increase the price of streaming services that are already in decline. The studios said no and walked out. It's not the studios being unreasonable, it's the greedy actors guild.

Is it objectively bad? Yeah probably. Is the "horror" lackluster? Yes. Did I ever care about FNAF before going to see this? No. (I only saw it because my younger teenage brother is a huge fan) Do I even care for horror stuff in general? No. Did I enjoy the movie? *Yes.* Is the movie deserving of a 24% or less critic score? *Nah.* (More like 50%) Overall I give it a 7/10. It was very formulaic, but it was still a fun movie, and I can see why the fans would love it. It even gave me a few chuckles, which I didn't expect. Not nearly as hard of laughter as the majority of the theater I was I mind you, but still entertaining. I couldn't tell you anything about the lore though surrounding all of it. From what I gathered the games and books are different and that this movie has already slightly altered some things as well, but I could be wrong. Considering just how much lore there is though, it’s probably for the best that those three are separate, because *good God I am not going to go through all of it.*

It would’ve been great to see the movie start with a the night guard clocking in and things going like the game, but occasional flashbacks to the history of the establishment, and end it with a more exciting ending rather then just reaching 6 AM

would have preferred less dialog, absolutely cut the little sister out of it and all those extra characters except for like the employer and the police woman, keep the setting mainly in the pizzeria and take away that whole custody battle

now this is just my opinion on the fnaf movie but like usually the Main character is the only one who's bonkers/bad. But Mike (Josh Hutcherson) was the only actually good actor in that entire movie. Sad that he wanted to be in that type of film after being in The Hunger Games. Also, They didn't really do a good job explaining most of the plot holes.

Guys if you're coming into the comments to just say "It's not for you it's for fans lol" just stop typing. While I will say that movies should try to appeal to fans, it should also at least try to appeal to anyone outside of that, critics included. General audiences and critics should be able to sit down and enjoy the movie, and hey maybe theyll get into the FNAF franchise because of it. That's not what this movie does. While I will admit some of the critiques in this video are wacky (The acting did not "suck total butt" that's the biggest exaggeration of all time. The actors were fine), he's not completely wrong and you shouldn't disregard a bad review just because it's of a movie you like. As a FNAF fan. I really liked the movie, but I understand why others wouldn't. So quit it with the "shut up movie critics ur just hating xP", because it's sounding like you like the movie (WHICH IS FINE. I LIKE IT TOO.) but can't accept that others don't.

i'm a fan of FNAF ever since the first game was released, so when I saw that this film was gonna release soon, I got hyped. When I watched it, I watched it with a ''film mentality'' cause just because i'm a fan, doesn't mean that I have to accept garbage, and for me honestly, this film is good, a lot of things work and some doesn't, but overall, it's a good movie for me and I really enjoyed it. I hope that it actually becomes a trilogy

Honestly, the movie could've been so much better if they. -Cut the aunt subplot. It was pointless cut n dry hollywood drama bs. -Replace aunt subplot with oh my god, the job doesnt pay enough to also hire a babysitter so mike takes abby to the workplace -Use that 20-30 min of aunt subplot to explain the murders or showcase 1 full night of the animatronics trying to break in and mike using the door mechanic or something, eventually they break in and find abby and stop their murder spree

the movie was mediocre, i agree with pretty much everything you said. it was promoted for nearly a fucking decade, i really thought it was just a rumor. then when it actually came out it didn’t deliver and had so much more potential than what it actually was in my opinion. but i still had a great time watching it with my friend. like you said it was for the fans, everyone cheered when there was a reference or youtuber cameo. half the audience was older teenagers/young adults like me who were fans of the games as kids now watching it ironically and the other half was actual children, a new generation of fans who loved the games just as we did. it was a fun experience, people just in the theatre just there to have a good time and relive their childhoods. that’s all it is really, the more you analyze it the more you realize how much of a dogshit movie it is. it’s just dumb fun is what i’m trying to say, nothing more nothing less.
