Building a Race Car, has a lot of steps. Most of those steps are painful. And slow. And sometimes expensive. But at the end of the day it's a process as long as it gets better and better you're moving forward. To say this car challenged us and really challenged our patience is a HUGE understatement. But that's race cars!

Matt I've been following the fools gold build an have had a little experience with big blocks an you should set your total time no more than 35 to 36 degrees. An just go a couple plugs cooler than what youd run NA for your nitrous up to 200 hp shot if you start running more in the way of 275 up then start yanking timing about 8 degrees for every 50 hp over 250 the cylinder mass and cubic inch of that engine will take every bit. If that where a small block 383 or bigger is the same minus 100hp spray. So 100hp only colder plug and start yanking timing as before you get it. I saw your pass at the come up little sketchy at the big end but look nice down low needs a little more weight up front ha ha . Keep it up. I'll stop your table Saturday and land some swag.
@philipmazzuca22692 жыл бұрын
Matt- I disagree, I would start at 36 and go up on motor. On spray I’d pull 4 degrees per 100hp and start with the fuel pressure at 6Lbs
@jayhughes24182 жыл бұрын
13-1 496 start at 36 or 38. Might even want 40. Pumpgas 496 start at 34 and may need to go up or down 2 depending on head type/chamber

Much appreciated Sir, the eyeballing part of what we do is probably THE most important part. We don't do it to pick apart the customer or the car, but to educate and help build a plan ahead. Especially in the race car world, don't gloss over anything, don't skip over anything, or someone or some THING can get very hurt very quickly

At 63 and a bad back, even after back surgery 4 years ago there are things I just no longer can do to my vehicles when they go bad. Case in point, I have a 1999 Expedition Eddie Bauer with only 116,000 miles on it. The passenger side exhaust manifold broke on it and needed replaced. To replace the right side as you probably know you need to raise the right side of the engine. So I go to the local Ford dealer and purchase everything, gaskets, studs, nuts and everything. I take it to the shop that has done some repair for me and I specifically showed the owner what I purchased and where it would be, the night I dropped it off I reminded the owner where the new parts were and he says ok no problem. When I pick the car up he is not there and I ask why the bill is so high and he said I don’t know here is the bill, I look at it and they ordered all new parts, I asked the son what was wrong with the brand new parts from Ford I showed your Dad and his response was dad wasn’t here this morning and he didn’t tell us about parts being in the back so we ordered them through the parts store. I felt like someone just kick me below the belt. I wish there was a Lucore Automotive near me in Maryland.
@jeffbear53172 жыл бұрын
I totally understand your frustrations ! I do the exact same thing for a living . I have been doing alignments since 1986 and have seen the cross threaded adjuster sleeve a few times normally when someone replaced their own parts.
@LucoreAuto2 жыл бұрын
Well kudos to you still down here in the trenches fighting! Often times the biggest challenges with older cars especially ones with multiple previous lives, is undoing whatever "fixing" had already been done. Sometimes the best way is to just throw it all away and start over.

I had the same issue with the same bump steer kit on my '72 Nova last year. I agree, for the price of the kit it should just fit. I contacted Baer and they suggested to take an inner end to a parts store and find one that was threaded down further, they also said that cutting an inch or so off the end of the sleeve wouldn't hurt anything. I still haven't installed it...

I was thinking and wondering if possibly the lower control arms on that car are installed on the wrong sides? Wings forward, versus wings backward, if you know what I mean? And if they were more forward wouldn't that kick the steering arms on the knuckles further apart and offer more caster? I might be totally wrong, but it just seems odd you are having all this trouble.

No wonder you couldn’t get a good hole shot. As soon as the front started to settle down, the front end was hunting like a bird dog. I wonder if the tubular arms are short or long or maybe something else with them? You have put your hands on everything else. If the arms are longer than factory, it would account for the crazy measurement. Just looking at the front wheels, I see that the tire sits out of the stock track and the hub is much closer to the fender, so much that the narrow wheel sits close to the fender.
@LucoreAuto2 жыл бұрын
The front end essentially was doing, whatever it wanted. Almost nothing was "set up" correctly. You can tell by his driving and how much wheeling he had to do this thing was a nightmare to drive. It's GREATLY improved, but still have a few things left to do.

The sub frame above your head looks like it is bent back farther on the driver side(right angle and setting) the passenger side looks like and sounds like it had hit something really hard in the RIGHT LANE, AND pushed in the front. Caused the passenger side sub frame to be pushed back and bolt holes to be out and stretched....... IS IT JUST ME OR THE VIDEO?
