with psilocybin, i have received communique from eternity that are echoed in scripture upon later review. despite my doubtful questions, the voices and visions embrace the bible and cheer at the name of jesus. this i can't explain, as i spent much of my adult life seeking out all reason, argument, and "evidence" against the existence of god and have spent countless hours lampooning what seemed the irrationality of christianity

I bought this book several years ago, and it presents some pretty compelling ideas about ancient and prehistoric religion. To further explain. The Romans were masters at assimilating other cultures, customs and ideas. And just as the early Christians had to hide from the empire, they were already adept in code and secrecy. Also, ancient people didn't typically write literally like we do today. It was mostly allegory presented in poems, dialogue, and other ornate language. By the way, great channel, I look forward to more!

In Vedic literature, the journey of the soul into the womb is metaphorically linked to rain and grain. The soul's journey begins when it descends from the ancestral world, akin to rain falling to earth. This rain nourishes the grain, which is then consumed by humans, symbolizing how souls are absorbed into food. When a man eats this grain, the soul enters his body and is later transmitted to the woman during conception. This process is described in texts like the Aitareya Upanishad, emphasizing the interconnectedness of cosmic cycles and human birth

As a young guy in the 1970s I purchased this amazing book in hardback. Read it through over a dozen times. He was involved in the intepretation of the Dead Sea scrolls. All sorts of bullshit began to emerge about John's involvement in delaying or contaminating the Dead Sea scrolls. Why? Because his intepretation was different from the other scholars. LSD, DMT, Amphetimine, psylocybin, marijuana were becoming a popular trend. I didn't even realise the how big the contraversy was to become. Poor bugger.

I first remember sitting at the kitchen table with my parents and their friends discussing "The Sacred Mushroom & the Cross". It was taken as an interesting hypothesis, and that book fit into the open minded zeitgeist of that social revolutionary moment of the late '60s/ early '70s. What has taken so long to come into popular consciousness, is the strong probability that JC was never a historic person, but a symbolic personage creation manufactured for the "late to the Roman Circus" Jewish Mystery cult that came to be known as Christianity. I am still curious of how later philologists might take Allegro's controversial translations? Now that there are more developed mythopoetic takes on the early years of the diversity of Roman Mystery cults, including Christianity.

I have long been aware of Allegro's research. People should also be aware there is a thesis that the "Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil" is thought by some to be the Amonita Muscaria, with its distinctive red & white speckles and is linked to Soma, the sacrament of the Veddas. See R Gordon Wasson's book, "the Sacred Mushroom of Immortality," available at New Age bookstores and head-shops everywhere.

Soma; God flesh, is an interesting perspective. But, we must remember the Roman historian Tacitus, a 2nd century man who wrote about the crucifixion. Historically, the Summarians used Hulgil, an elixir used to broach the veil into gnosis (the knowing). LB2 artifacts suggest this may have included poppy juice (opium poppy shaped sculpture). Well, I gotta fly... thanks for the post!
@twangshanty9559Ай бұрын
Then they had to drink their own urine. Yep, that's Soma.
@matswessling660027 күн бұрын
Tacitus did only write down what christuins believed. He didnt witness the crucifiction and he had no other sources.
@DaveWi-zs4yv27 күн бұрын
@matswessling6600 Well stated, he was not an eye witness. And we therefore must consider his work a secondary or tertiary reference. But, given the time when it was written, the work of a historian was his stock and trade. There are other sources focused on the account as a historic event involving a human, The Bible; Not only the four canonical gospels in the New Testament, but the letters of Paul written around 36 CE, are the earliest surviving sources that mention Jesus's crucifixion. And the annals by Tacitus: written in c. 55 AD. Also Agapius, by Josephus, mentions Jesus's crucifixion. Then theres also the writings of Pliny the Younger in a letter to Emperor Trajan ca. 112 AD. Then Mara bar-Serapion speaks to the death of “the wise king of the Jews.” And Lucian of Samsota, a Greek historian who lived around 100 AD and also wrote about the death of Christ. But, then again, if when one believes God is everything... then why is it not a mushroom, too 🙃

I told two Rabbi friends about this book just 3 months ago. As someone e who actually listened to most of the audio book, well about half until my wife caught me and made me turn it off, freakin censorship man. I can say that one thing that wasn’t in this video is the fact that he was also known for discovering a codex of the secret meaning of biblical symbols. I believe it was found with the Dead Sea Scrolls, but he was the primary translator of it, or saw the most significance in what it represented. Many of his critics have focused their attacks on that document, but it’s very fascinating to consider in any ancient or context. I don’t need to go to deep here, but if you can’t see that all academia is an extension of contemporary politics and between the two they share a symbiotic relationship when it comes to proliferating and maintaining the status quo…if a person doesn’t understand that, I basically have nothing to say to them. But because of that, they are in the majority and the rest of us are few and far between.
