This video contains a brief history of how the Ford GT was born successful but merely focused on the latest Ford GT race car. The Ford GT LM GTE was built in 2015 and is based on the third generation of the Ford GT street car. The Ford GT returned to racing at Le Mans in 2016 to celebrate 50 years after the legendary '66-69' GT40 collected 4 wins and won Le Mans. It campaigned in FIA WEC (World Endurance Championship) and IMSA SportsCar Championship for 4 consecutive years with the factory-team Chip Ganassi Racing. Whereas 2016 they won Le Mans, 2017-18 at Rolex Daytona and 2018 was Ford's most victorious season, and 2019 was a special year where the GTs did races with the special heritage liveries for the final season. 19 Total Wins (13 IMSA Wins and 6 WEC Wins)

I used to hate this program in 2016 because of the drama at Le Mans (IFKYK) but I've grown to appreciate how cool of a car it is. Also Ferrari won Le Mans in 2019, not Porsche.

Did Ferrari win the GTE Pro class that year? I guess Porsche won the GTE AM class that year because I saw in the standings that they won. I initially thought Porsche won GTE Le Mans overall in 2019.

@@christheradar yeah off the top of my head GTE Pro victories are: 2010: Porsche 2011: Corvette 2012: Ferrari 2013: Porsche 2014: Ferrari 2015: Corvette 2016: Ford 2017: Aston Martin 2018: Porsche 2019: Ferrari 2020: Aston Martin 2021: Ferrari 2022: Porsche I include 2010 even tho it was GT2 that year cause that was really the first year we saw factory teams coming into the class.

Ben Keating wont the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE AM; but unfortunately, the win was revoked. Ford will invest in the Mustang in the GT3 category, following the new FiA regulations in 2023.

2023? That's really soon. I thought Ford said they'll campaign the car in IMSA and other GT World series starting in 2024. From what I understand, Ford will test the Mustang GT3 in 2023 to prep for the 2024 debut season.

@@workspilot. Does anyone even care? About the Mustang? I really don't. The Ford GTE was a purpose built race car. Back in the early 2000s, FIA and British GT raced plenty of purpose made race cars but nowadays this is something extremely rare. It was a big surprise when it came out. I don't think we'll ever see a car like the modern Ford GT in FIA or SRO racing ever again.

Ford GT LMDh or LMH with it's same Eco Boost V6 and hybrid and almost resemble to the Ford GT 2012, And it will called Ford GT-H when H stand for Hybrid or Hypercar? Yes pls bring back Ford to Le Mans and beat Ferrari again in top prototype class.

Unfortunately, They won't bring the Ford GT back nor they will build a LMDh or LMH car unless I am wrong in the future. However, Ford will run the new Mustang GT3 in 2024. It's been a long time since we had seen a muscle car race as GT3.
