Elden Ring is such a beautiful, terrifying, *weird* universe man. Idc what people say, we need an Elden Ring 2 at some point.

I had a hunch sometime after beating the DLC that’s difficult to put into words but I’ll try. The Formless Mother and The Crucible are directly tied if not the same thing. Two coils in the same spiral. The Crucible is the Gold of life while blood is the red that tints it. Red and yellow come up a lot in ER. Together you can make gold or if you divide it, you get frenzy flame. The Crucible Knight armor description states gold used to have a red tinge that is now missing. The Formless Mother was excised from Gold. That is the “Truth” that she IS the true mother, Mother Nature itself and a part of the Crucible. The FM is blood itself. Her followers (Albinaurics, nobles, and Mohg) all start to sprout omen horns! Bayle’s face also looks distinctly like Mohg’s. We know drakes are crucible-touched dragons. If Bayle is the oldest, from a time when the FM was still a part of the Crucible, it makes sense that he’d display horns closer to the blood faction. This could also explain what’s happening during Morgott’s fight. Like Bloodborne, the Clerics became the greatest beasts because they were able to resist the curse for longer until the curse “rubberbands” in the opposite direction. The stronger the repression, the greater the explosion. Morgott embraces his blood and suddenly the arena boils with golden liquid, as if the Formless Mother and the Crucible and present for the fight at the base of the Erdtree (which I believe is sitting on a crucible current like Enir Elim) and his blood becomes gold. Within Morgott, the Crucible and FM have finally reunited briefly and it gives Morgott immense power. But the repression has made this fusion explosive and roiling. I don’t have precise theories for what Gold and Blood each represent within Life/the Crucible but it seems Blood is tied to evolution and by removing the FM from the equation, life has stagnated and nothing evolves anymore. “The kindness of gold without order.” May refer to the act of removing red from Gold. Change was part of Order, as change is natural. She wanted to stop time, not dissimilar to Gwyn. And here comes Radagon, the Red to Marika’s Gold. Golden Gods need bloody lords because that is to mirror the Crucible itself. A balance of the beauty of life and the violence of nature. I believe this is what the statue of two figures embracing in a spiral represents in Enir Elim. It’s the Crucible. Symbolized by the marriage of red and gold. A lot of words but I had to jot them down, this revelation made me feel like a madman.

Seeing the Formless Mother's connection to the Omen I can't help but wonder if she is connected to the Fell God of Fire based on the Furnace Visage depicting a face surrounded by Omen horns that is suppose to be the Fell God. Not to mention the Mother's fiery blood thing while the Fell God is the god of Fire. If they were connected it would make Morgott calling himself Margit the Fell kinda of a funny nudge from a writing standpoint. Not to mention ironic in the end his Margit persona never used "fell" methods while Morgott attacks with blood flame. Perhaps between the Age of the Dragons and the Age of the Tower there may have been an intervening Age of Fire of which the two ruled?

Theres definitely alot to speak to negativity for her theme, the theme that gives her power in game, and the same karma like energy that feeds the rest of the cthulus, particularly the fire aligned cthulus, like the fell god.

The fact that she's the specifically the most arcane representative, is generally what we know about her. She's for example also the most abstract of all the cthulu like entities in game. She literally is a higher dimensional being, and a fundamental law of the in game physics, part of how the universe works, a power that can be drawn upon anywhere by reciting arcane incantations of her law, then thrusting into her body at any point in space or time. Because of that, it's easy to summarize her as a representative of the influence of H.P Lovecraft that Miyazaki cited along with lord of the rings. (The elden ring is one of the rings of power, given to men.)

For me, when an entity make grown a "Worldtree", it makes grown a second personnality in her. And I think Metyr have grown the first Erdtree, during the reign of Dragons, and that is second personnality is the "Formless mother". In a way Metyr have brought "evolution" on the Lands Between with intelligence, and mortality for her counterpart, and act for innovation while the Formless Mother try to keep a link between people. The path of Metyr leads to the Numens (citizenship) while the one of the Formless Mother gives the Demi-Humans (tribalism).

About What were the Bloodfiends before, japanese description can resolve the mistery. First, the clan that became the Bloodfiends is called a clan of Slaves, and we know how Hornsent see their horns as a symbol of superiority and treated people born without them, like Shamans. Also, the same description talk about they peered upon the corpse of AN ancestor, not specifically THEIR ancestor. It's not a 100% answer for the mistery but in my opinion it points more on Demi-humans or some other kind of human clan.
@undead45003 сағат бұрын
they do look simlar to demi-humans and considering there are demi humans in lands of shadow as well. seems pretty likely Bloodfiends used to be demi humans.

Seeing as you don't really hear anything of the formless mother till around the shattering maybe she is the formless manifestation of Marika. Reminiscent of the way we find marika crucified with a spear piercing her side.

I think we're heading closer to the conclusion that the Dark Souls, Bloodbourne and Elden Ring games take place in the same universe, if not the same world. I suspect the new game is going to confirm this to an extent
