Thank you for making this, I have a hard time trying to explain periodization to others.... I've heard someone say something like "we must train to train" or rather we must train this way in order to train to compete.

Sika lads, what do you do weith the hypertrophie/strength endurance phase for weighted sport categories like boxing? You want to optimise body composition, but not make it tougher to make weight at the same time

I really like your breakdown, I wanted to ask what you think of doing plyos and olympic lifts and throws etc. in phase 1 together with the hypertrophy - I currently follow a hypertrophy + speed/power phase 1, max strength + alactic capacity phase 2 and lactic capacity with maintenance of strength phase 3 for BJJ/grappling.

Mmmm I would wonder how muchax strength you would obtain on phase 1. If the phase is long enough then you should be okay. Concurrent training is fine as long as you make sure that you place an emphasis on more of 1 apsect per phase

What age/sports should young athletes be enrolled in to develop power? Track and field?
@danielghesquiere2011 Жыл бұрын
My concern lately is how to do we get from phase 1 - 3 as fast as possible to make sure we bring what we create with us to our peaking cycle. 16 week blocks seem a little counterintuitive for non-field athletes.

If you were say a sprinter, but had low leg muscle mass, would you take 3-6 months off of heavy sprinting training, prioritise lifting to gain LBM on the legs specifically then return or would you do both?

This formula is completely arbitrary. It is a cop out to say athletes that don't fit this formula are "genetic outliers" The way to develop power depends on the sport and how you define power in that sport. The only objective fundamental truth is Power = Force x Velocity. Depending on sport and athlete, hypertrophy phase is not always necessary, unless it is a limiting factor. In sports like T&F, training maximal strength is useless WITHOUT doing fast things at the same time.
