Played in a band back in 1970 .Was our opening number, on easter Saturday we went at lunchtime to set our gear up to save time, opening number was, you've got etc, everything went well until vocals, and P A had blown, never has a song title mean't so much, haha.

Had many a jam with Johnny! Great guitarist as well as top class drummer. The good old days!

He's also a good keyboard player as well. I first met Johnny in the early 70's and he picked up my nylon strung guitar I'd recently purchased from a catalogue and started to play it. I was gob smacked at how good a player he was and even more gob smacked when he said that he was really a drummer but liked 'just messing about' on guitar. Fast forward a couple of years and I'm living upstairs from John, his wife and young daughter. I had been been given an old harmonium that I'd spent a couple of months renovating. He came up to have a look and started to play it. A flashback to that 'I'm a drummer really' moment on first meeting him. I couldn't play the thing at all and he asked me if I knew which note what was 'C'. In less than 5 mins he showed me how to play any major and minor chord. Half a century later and retired in my early 70's I get fantastic enjoyment out of mucking about with my MIDI keyboard and Cubase software, a situation that I'm pretty certain I wouldn't be in if it wasn't for meeting Johnny all those years ago. Not only an extremely good musician but one of the nicest blokes I've ever met.

I was at both, so many great acts - even Mike Wilsh & Lionel Morton reformed the Four Pennies for one night. They just met the session drummer right before the show and he didn't have a clue how to play "Juliet!" By the second show I guess he'd played the record a few times as he was spot on! Beaky played drums for The Tremeloes that night too.
