This one and the Megaconda episode. For awhile the alien parasite episode scared me too, but I had a medical interest at the time, and came to the rational thought that a blood sucking alien wouldn’t have the same immunities as humans, and would succumb to some blood disease. But Vampires are already dead, and a giant snake is just terrifying on principle.

The way the set and setting was built up all the effects and then when it got to an actual moment in the show where something was captured they dont overload it with other shit everything else goes quiet and they focus on that aspect. This show was one of the greatest things to come out of television in the late 2000's. It was cheesy but still awesome for fans of cryptids like I always have been. I believe it would do much better these days if Lost Tapes came back as a series made for KZbin in the same vein of any of the analog horror available, my point bringing in the Backrooms which are amazing videos which barely any budget. Imagine if Kane Pixels decided to remake even ONE episode of Lost Tapes, maybe bring in another big animation-style Tuber. It would be amazing

Thank you for reminding me this show. I watched this as kid on YT and was traumatized by it, thinking that it was all real. The "Poltergeist" episode and "Wendigo" traumatized me the most, making me being terrified of letting the doors open in the dark (the thought of them shutting out of sudden by some paranormal entity was really scary) to this day. But I think I'm gonna rewatch this, since I've never seen the "Yeti" and "Kraken" episodes, because I didn't know they exist on the first place.

This show hit right in the sweet spot. Having its run during the period of the internet digesting horror and myth content. Me and my younger brother found this after it was canceled. Animal planet would rerun the handful of episodes they have. People would reupload them via KZbin. Yes, I went through a phase of being invested in things like Mothman, Jersey Devil, and the many others. This show does have some very creepy moments and episodes that are decently solid. It might not age completely well. It’s a sort of a childhood fascination though.

I liked the Bigfoot protecting the Forest Ranger from the Poacher and the scarier episodes of the Enigma Coporation, the Zombie and Strigoi/Vampire. I think the best episode is the "Owl Man" episode (called Death Raptor here) because the kid actor is really solid for such a show! Another scary one is of course both Vampire ones, since they are so human as cryptids and activly hunting humans and not waiting for them to come to wherever they are. Overlooked are also the Wendigo episode because it just felt so real too. But the one giving me nightmares when I was young, was the Lizard People episode and the last of the whole series. I just started going to bars/clubs/discos and yeah, that hit hard and close to home! It is a trashy ride but like some comfort food you know it isn't good but still, it is a good time! If I need to say the top 3 episodes that are a must watch: Death Raptor season 1, Vampire Season 2 and Reptilian Season 3. The worst 3, which you could skip: Monster of Monterey Season 1, Devil Dragon Season 1 and Thunderbird Season 1.

"Lost Tapes" is like creepypasta. If you need great storytelling, pacing, and visual effects to guide you through a story, then it's probably not for you. But if you have the type of imagination that can fill in plot holes (because you know this is fiction going in), then you don't need the medium to tell the story for you, then Lost Tapes is far more than serviceable. I watched these when the dropped back in the day. It was such fun cheese.
