toyota still fights for real drivers cars; but, it will be getting harder and harder with all the EV push. If we want this type of vehicles, we need to show our support by keep buying them and keep asking for them; as long as there is a market, toyota will figure it out; if there will not be a market, they will stop as well. So, buy that gr86, that future mr2, that future celica, that gr corolla, that fabulously epic gr yaris and even the supra; buy them manual to tell them we still like and enjoy real driving.

@jackmason95507 ай бұрын
I get what you're saying, and it might not be the case for you and there's nothing wrong with that, but there is an entire culture built on taking factory cars and "tuning" them. Lots of people like to take cars and modify them to do all sorts of things they weren't originally designed to do. In some cases it's modifying the car to drift. In other cases it's to climb mountains, or crawl over boulders, or to look a certain way, or to bounce up and down until the suspension breaks, or to pull things, or to crash it into other cars as many times as possible until your car is the only car still running, and yes, part of a lot of achieving a lot of those things may include making the car produce more power to do what you want to do with it. For those people, experimenting with and modifying the car is half the fun in and of itself. For someone who isn't into that, sure, it makes sense to say "just go buy a more expensive car that already has more power" but that's not everyone. Often, it's also a form of self-expression using the car, the same way an oil painting is a form of self-expression for an artist. If you aren't an artist, putting all that effort into painting a landscape might seem silly when you can just take a picture of it with your iPhone, but there's more to it for the artist than just capturing the image. It isn't about taking in the image, it's about putting out the image of what the artist sees so that others can see it the way the artist sees it. Modifying a car to have more power isn't just about having a car with more power. It's about seeing what you can do with THAT car if it had more power, and combining that with any number of other modifications, in order to take something that anyone can just buy off the lot, and using those combinations of things to make it into something unique and special- a vision of a car the way THEY see it, and which can't simply be bought off a lot anywhere.

Its true. However rumor is the next GR86 will debut in 2028 featuring a 1.4 liter or 1.6 liter turbocharged hybrid engine
@eugenux8 ай бұрын
@@fat420crackerppl keep saying that but it would be strange to have the *exact* same engine in 5 different vehicles(GR corolla, GR Yaris, future MR2, future celica(if it gets the go ahead) and next gen '86); for me, it looks like to many of the same, even though celica would be fwd and awd, mr2 would be rwd; for me, it all makes sense if they give up on the GR yaris and produce on the same platform the celica(wrc?!) but, at the same(-ish) price point and have the MR2 as a cayman competitor(aka, cheapest mid-engine sports car); they would need to leave the next gen gr86 n/a as it has little to zero sense to have an mr2 and a gr86 with the same engine but different engine position; in my opinion, the best platform segmentation would be: - put this engine in next gen corolla GR and make it a fastback or a liftback sedan(or a hothatch for that matter) - AWD family performance - change the body design of the GR yaris and transform it in a GR celica(hatchback-o-coupe like in the late 80s, early 90s) - AWD wrc for the road - mid engined MR2 - RWD real sports car at base cayman price point - front engined GR86 - RWD real sports car for the regular Joe; the problem with the GR86 is that they cannot go beyond a price point..as then they will compete themselves with themselves..which would do them a disservice; sure, more options for us but not a thing that's good for business for a car manufacturer. Future will tell but I really do hope for a mild hybrid, rwd, manual, light, small gr86 at 35k...as 40-50k would be the future GR corolla and celica, while the MR2 would be at around 65-70k; too much, if you ask me, as they have the 6cl supra to fit in in the 60k+ sports car category.(they should also drop the 2.0 supra, as that is just a waste of car material) cheers!

Honestly if Toyota put the v6 the Camry has, in the gt86 and threw a supercharger on, it would rival the lotus evora. I mean that literally what the lotus has… same engine the Camry uses with a supercharger strapped to it. Although lotus did there thang to it.. If they did such thing to the gt86 then there would have been no Supra or they would have had no choice but to produce the Supra in a high class than gt and ss territory. Toyotas supercharged v6 is fantastic aka Lotus Evora.. Toyota company are cheap. They also wanted to keep the car affordable to everyday people..

I think the break was around 85-86 that there was a facelift and the early are Zenki and the latter are Kouki. Here in America we got the Trueno based GT-S with the pop-up lights and 4age and the SR5 with a single cam. We also had either the coupe or the hatchback.
