I remember sitting through the built up of New Orleans Square as a kid. My mom loved it when it was just shops. Then came Pirates! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand eventually the Greatest Theme Park Attraction In The Entire World (Fight Me On This!), The Haunted Mansion! :-) Yeah, it took a while, a long while.

I think some of the smaller lands are my favorites as long as they're well done - New Orleans being my very favorite. But you have to have that ambiance, and ideally some places to sit and things to look at so you don't just blow right through it.

I keep forgetting that offhand Disney hasn’t been to Universal. The technology for one of these 3-D motion-based rides with one of the vehicles that looks exactly like this came out 25 years ago at Universal with amazing adventures of Spider-Man. We’ll see if it’s not 3-D, but it is literally the exact same ride vehicle at least in appearance.Look at the images of the vehicle side-by-side.

Park ambience music should be a “supporting actor” in the grand scheme of things. It’s subtle yet so crucial in placemaking. Avengers Campus said “f it” let’s loop the Avengers theme and blast it to a level where the speakers might blow. It’s actually really annoying. Galaxy’s Edge not having any ambience music is a whole different problem (in my opinion) but imagine them blasting the Star Wars theme throughout the land non stop in that volume?

Exactly if done right it could be good. Although I’m disappointed they canceled the Jetpack seat quinjet ride they ori😊promised us. I just hope infinity defense has a good mix of physical sets and animatronics. Because I worry that it’ll be 90% screens

With the bit you mentioned about not having 3D glasses, I think we might finally get an attraction where the 3D experience is like the Nintendo 3DS, but with a big screen where things pop out at you without the need of 3D glasses, like that tech has evolved enough to be able to be incorporated in theme park rides.

I really hope the Infinity Defense ride has a solid Antman scene in which you get shrunk to the size of an ant one moment and then you meet a giant animatronic of Giant Man (Antman's giant form) the next without the use of any screens -- Say the whole set is built to scale to make it seem like you're tiny in one scene...then the car swivels and turns and with some visual trickery and effects, you go back to normal size. And for the Giant man animatronic, it doesn't even need to be his whole body...maybe just have a giant foot drop down from out of vantage point and crush an enemy vehicle. I think it's possible.

to be honest? i seriously don’t see stark flight lab happening, and on the off chance that it does, it’s going to be budget cut to hell. i would love to look at the d23 announcements and be hopeful that it will all happen as promised, but if there’s anything contemporary disney leadership has shown us as park fans it’s that whatever concept art or information they share with us, it’s NEVER guaranteed to actually be implemented into whatever it is they’re building. i just don’t see there being enough space for both infinity defense AND flight lab, and flight lab is definitely the one of the two to get cut if it comes down to it. i’ll be shocked if im proven wrong and the ride is built but i seriously don’t see it coming to fruition under the current leadership.

I think its funny that DCA in its beginnings with the original Hollywood Land with only one ride and the ride just being meh while surrounded by nothing but food and gift shops, Disney sees it failing to catch on among the public and adds an E ticket attraction in the form of Tower of Terror as damage control. 20 some odd years later it happens again with Avengers Campus. In the great words of George Lucas, "Its like poetry, it rhymes." To its credit though, Spiderman is at least better than Superstar Limo but Toy Story Midway Mania is a better version of Spiderman.

This addition is a huge win to be sure! But avengers campus needs to expand even more to represent the Marvel content we’ve seen on screen. I’d always liked the idea of a boat ride similar to Navi river journey but themed to Black Panther. I wanna go on a boat ride to the ancestral realm! Or how about a hilarious thriller ride through Asgard narrated by Loki and Thor. Maybe even a spooky ride with some of our magic users? There’s so many options!

You say you are "weird" for being more excited about Flight Lab than Infinity Defense...hold my beer, cause I'm more excited about having those power lines (8:52) blocked by *anything* than I'm excited by either attraction. Vibes over rides for me, and as long as I can see power lines and 1980s hotels, it's not the Disney park quality I'm paying for. But, here's the thing about Avenger's Campus...and Galaxy's Edge. Both these IPs have for decades been most popular with a certain demographic -- or psychographic, per marketing-speak -- that is nearly a complete overlap with roller coaster enthusiasts. So it is astonishing to me that Disney didn't include a themed roller coaster in either of these lands. I believe there would be far less complaining about these lands if they had included a top-notch themed coaster in them (and I'm hoping the current Web Slingers becomes the queue for a suspended Spider-Man coaster where the animation building is someday...that would clinch Avengers Campus). Oh, and speaking of "Avengers Campus"...that same demographic/psychographic I mentioned above, they think the word "campus" sounds...academic...and boring. You don't go see a Marvel movie to see anything going on at a "campus." The land is so devoid of peril and excitement, from the corporate-HQ-shopping-mall architecture to the low-energy, snoozy name. They should re-name the land at least Avenger's Base, and then also make the land under attack with more crumbled walls, blasted out buildings, and alien ships floating overhead (like the Pandora rocks) to give us shade and put us into the action.

They had way better things planned for it but all were scrapped because the higher ups decided to do it on the cheap so they budget cut everything. Not to mention shortly after the campus opened they lost a ton of imagineers (and that large amount of talent) after Disney tried to force them to move to Florida or lose their job.

13:39 Actually Loki is one of the main cast of characters in Avengers Campus (basically there everyday), he just had new outfits weekly when the first season came out and then a TVA outfit and O.B. with him for the second season. But yes, the characters are there just to promote the new projects and are advertised as being there for a limited time. The only ones that have stayed after the projects were Shang-Chi (though he originally has his “street wear” outfit when he first came out and when he became permanent, they had him in is dragon scale outfit), Shuri, and Kamala (after the Marvels). My friends and I always have the conversation about what they will do when each new project comes out.

I went on Peter Pan a couple weeks ago in Japan and man, it’s so so amazing. It quickly became one of my favorite rides ever. Ratatouille doesn’t even compare. However, I agree if they only go with screens like Peter Pan, it’ll definitely be too similar to the Spider Man ride in Universal. Which is funny, because this ride has the same lead creative. Which to me, points to it being predominantly screen based. Hopefully they throw in animatronics like the Jurassic World ride in Beijing.

My thought is.... The MCU is too huge to fit into a single land. What I would really love to see is it get its own entire theme park! You could have entire lands for Avengers Headquarters, Wakanda, Stark Industries, Asgard, Nova HQ, Kamar-Taj, and even the TVA! They're limiting themselves too much by keeping everything in one condensed land per already existing park.

Before the land got budget cut and crammed into the former bugs land spot, it was going to go in the Hollywood backlot area. There is a leaked piece of official concept art that shows how it would look. It basically looked like a mini version of New York City and had a big avengers tower in the middle towards the back. Another issue that my best friend pointed out is that the restaurant there uses peanuts in almost ALL of its food, to the point that with her allergy, she’d be hesitant to order anything there at all due to cross contamination concerns - peanuts are delicious, but it’s also a very common allergy. Galaxy’s Edge has three spots to eat - maybe a second more sit down-y place where you didn’t have to worry about that quite so much?

I've always been an Avengers Campus optimist and when Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab were announced, I FREAKING LOST IT!!! I agree that Flight Lab will provide more kinetic energy into the campus and allow younger guest to ride another attraction if they ridden Web Slingers so many times. Now Avengers Infinity Defense, OH BOY!!! I'm definitely thrilled to see what the attraction will look like. I do believe it'll be same as Peter Pan's Neverland Adventure over in Tokyo (and tbh it's basically a copy of Spider-Man over at "THE ENEMY"🌎), but yeah I really hope we get some animatronics in the ride. King Thanos is definitely a no-brainer, although Iron Man could be another option. BTW, while mentioning the Doctor Strange show I remember that Disney announced a new Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch show over in Paris. So if it goes well over there, perhaps after Agatha is done they could bring the Paris show over to Cali as a permanent replacement. We'll see.🤷🏾‍♂️ I think within the next few years, Avengers Campus is gonna get even better than before and I can't wait!!!! ( 7:23 Ay thanks for working Belle into the video!😁)

Stark Flight Lab just looks too like it can't possibly have a very large ride capacity, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a "paid" attraction like that sling shot ride that they always have at other amusement parks that cost extra, either through making Lightning Lane only, or making it so LL is the only way to reasonably ride it.

Shade cloth comes in many different colors and textures. Because of the lack of shade I’m one and done at Avenger’s Campus. I will go for the pretzel or crazy sized chicken sandwich. Then right back to Grizzly Peak or Cars Land.

The ride vehicle is so obviously the same as the Peter Pan vehicle, I'd be shocked if it was dramatically different. It features side panels to limit peripheral vision and everything. Screen-based rides are disappointing and definitely not what I think when I think e-ticket, so I desperately hope I'm wrong.

It’s sad too that the original avengers e ticket ride they showed us back in 2019 was going to be very ambitious and very high budget, but somewhat recently only got cancelled because Disney decided they didn’t wanna pay that kinda money. The e ticket quinjet ride involved a mix of 2-3 ride systems and involved you getting to fly your own jetpack seat. It looked amazing and honestly probably would have saved the land. The higher ups at Disney decided to cheap out so that is why it was cancelled for something a lot more “mid level” in terms of budget. Because Disney saves a lot of money recycling a ride system that the oriental land company paid all of the r&d costs for. I can’t believe we went from flying your own jetpack seat to now a screen heavy trackless version of Indiana jones. I hope it’s decent but I worry it’ll be either “meh” or terrible, like web slingers

I too thought it was a dark ride or would be moving around the inside of a building, but when I looked closer at the official concept art I noticed the only thing that moves are the seats (the seats move around a circular track similar to an airport baggage conveyor), then the stationary kuka arms pick up the seats and spin them around. So the kuka arms don’t actually move away from that spot. I thought that was kinda disappointing

As apparently only the second biggest Moon Knight fan, I agree that he needs to be featured more in the park. I don't understand why we haven't had an X-men 97 ride announcement given its success. Could be in the style of the Spider-man ride at Universal. Walk into Xavier Mansion and fight alongside the X-men v The Sentinels. That would be a winner.

Was in the parks for a week in mid-September, and found myself in SanFran-Tokyo area a lot due to the great food and awesome vibes there. I think they could do that for Marvel, and it wouldn't take more rides, just more non generic themes instead of the clean but loud music, empty areas with lack of shade. And a few characters wouldn't be bad for autographs... I can say any Marvel ride that toddlers can ride would be very appreciated by a swarm of baby buggies in tow if they ever built one. I noticed most kids are too small for the good action rides and too bored by the others. So most kids go to another land like Cars, or Pixar. Leaving a hole in kids hearts and a missed opportunity for investors to sell more merch.😅😊

Honestly I give Avengers Campus a D. I’ve never been a fan of the plastic-metal aesthetic of the MCU movies so the theming of the land has always felt lackluster to me, but I’m also very biased as I am a Disney purist for sure. I wish they’d invest more in actual Disney stuff at Disneyland.

If Disney were to plop a basic new age dark ride with fancy screens/ trackless ride vehicles like i.e ratatouille after all these years of waiting, all the hype, then the grand reveal of the attraction at D23 it would be an ALL TIME failure by Disney parks. lol. It either has to be on par with, ‘Cosmic rewind’ or, ‘Rise of the resistance’ otherwise, it in fact will be another “filler ride” if you will. I can’t even imagine.. lol smh (Even though I can..)

It is the type of franchise that was suited for Universal Studios, and their penchant for screen-based simulator rides. The characters are human, rather than animated, which would be too unnerving as an animatronic. Which is probably why the KUKA arm ride, seems to be more interesting than the dark ride.

So I recently had my first trip since early 2018 so it was my first trip since Avenges Campus, Galaxy’s Edge, and Pixar Pier opened. Going into the trip I was expecting to feel like Avengers Campus was decent but lacking and Galaxy’s Edge to be the best thing since New Orleans Square. While I thought Galaxy’s Edge was fun to walk around in, I think it needs an outdoor attraction, stunt show, and more characters. Hell, I’d even recommend a walk through Jedi trials attraction that would be part escape room and part getting your kyber crystal. While Avengers Campus needs that impressive E-ticket, I actually had more fun spending time there because I got to see live shows and interact with my favorite Avengers. I saw Ahsoka in Galaxy’s Edge, never found Mando, Boba Fett, and only saw Rey and Chewy in passing. Overall I’d would give Avengers Campus as it exists today a solid B, not bad but needs improvement.

Agree. Did not one Imagineer raise they hand and say: "Ah, team, I'm concerned that name is going to remind our 14 year-old target market about...school." But...they also made a Spider-Man attraction about spider robots. My teenage boys jokingly call it the "Tom Holland" ride as it has very little to do with a half-century of Spider-Man lore.

my home park is paris, and i always liked our version of avenger's campus, so i guess i'll just be happy for y'all while our park grows at a glacial pace haha interestingly though since you brought up 3D glasses and ratatouille : over here there was a test earlier this year where they ran it as just a 2D film, without glasses. Last I checked (i haven't been in a few months) this had become permanent and they just discontinued the 3D version. so i wouldn't discount a ratatouille-style ride just because of the lack of glasses. doesn't shanghai's pirates ride also work in very similar ways, and also without 3D glasses?

Olympics is a 3 week event. No one going to Olympics will be going to the theme parks. In 1984, the theme parks were empty. That’s largely because the city warned the public to stay off the freeways. It worked. The athletes and tourists were confined to the event venues. Today’s athletes and tourists don’t even bother with sticking around after their events. They just leave quickly. The ending ceremony is a time wasting bore with overpriced tickets.

You don't even need to go back to 1984. This year Disneyland Paris was a ghost town during the first week of the Olympic Games. After that people caught on that you could walk on to anything and this got back to normal in the third and final week of the Olympics. The weird thing was that Parc Astérix, North of Paris (DLP is East of Paris) didn't suffer a dip in attendance.

Avenger's Campus is boring and hot as is. Tje characters are nice, but they aren't pit enough, and they are usually for away on that building, and it blinds you to look up. I go there just for Guardians, and the espresso martini at Pym's. I'm for anything to make it better

I’ve only been to Avengers Campus once: just after the release of Black Panther. As a union actor, I remember wondering what sort of arrangements had been made for the live shows. AEA never talked about an agreement, so I guessed that any character I saw “fighting” was most likely a stunt performer that wasn’t covered by any live performance union. That said, I suspect the loss of the Doctor Strange show might well be chalked up to such considerations. Frankly, I was shocked when the Captain America musical ran. It was a short show, but it played several times a day. I’m guessing there was a special agreement to make that happen. AEA has standing agreements with WDW. I wonder what the hold up is for DL? State based issues?
