Don't think language will cease to exist. Meaningful thought are in the form of languages, and language takes big part in logical reasoning. Without it, science, maths(yes, I think maths is a form of language), art, literature cannot proceed.

The greatest challenge with this kind of technology will probably be how to sort out intended thoughts from unintended ones when communicating, as our minds constantly flitter away all over the place. For example, if I tell you not to think about elephants, you will inevitably think about elephants. To quote Severus Snape: "The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on the inside of skulls, to be perused by any invader. The mind is a complex and many-layered thing..." This is very true - thoughts are far more complex and less governable than the concrete spoken lines they appear to be in most movies featuring telepathy, and if I'm communicating telepathically with my mother I'd rather not have her know exactly how many times I masturbated this week...

The thing that potentially excites me about brain to brain communication is the possibility of someday evolving an even more advanced life form of which individuals are analogous to the individual cells of the body. While negative portrayals (the Borg) often posit a loss of individuality as an attack on something precious, there have also been arguably positive portrayals (Gaia from the Asimov's Foundation series) which I think may be more realistic in the long run. First, of course, is the fact that Jonathan already points out about how you could transmit intent instead of just words and avoid miscommunications. But it potentially goes so far beyond this: Imagine if instead of relying on empathy in the current sense of the word you were literally just *aware* at all times how others felt? It would be harder to selfishly inflict suffering on another if their suffering is also your suffering. Likewise, it would be easier to justify helping another, if helping them didn't just stroke your ego, but also let you feel what that help meant to them. It would let you know when your help was actually wanted, and when the person would genuinely rather be self reliant, or let you better understand how much and what kind of help they need. If such understanding were made universal, it could not help but fundamentally alter the social dynamics of the world. But since nature seems in no hurry to naturally evolve humans with telepathy, maybe technology will need to give humans a path to it?

Charles Fusner a path to enlightement people that reached the state where they can fully understand other people feeling and emotion are master of life.jesus boudha krishna and other spiritual master had that potential. But i am not talking about religion because i am a atheist.I am talking about a technology of the mind that cant actually made you realise the full potential of your conscions being. We may call it nirvana, god, the source, the self, the origins call it whatever you like but the true is always to turn simple thinking matter into absolute understanding.

My question is: how we can unlearn the connection of human brain without a physical or a symbolic links like the equipments or use language or even visual signals? because i had made this experience by using a material and i repeat it many time and it works.

Imagine brain to brain communication with your significant other during intimacy. We would be able to synchronize ourselves perfectly with anybody we choose or everyone all at once. The world of team sports would change forever. We could lose our ego and tap into the collective human conciousness. Our attachment to privacy is tethered to our ego. If we were to tear down that final boundary, then maybe we would finally realize that we are all one in the same, and we could all love each other as we do ourselves. This will change everything.

When recording music, it's next to impossible for the output to match what 'it sounded like' in my head. Brain-to-brain communication would allow someone else to hear exactly what I hear. Ideally, if we can some day record our brain activity and allow someone else to play back those thoughts and feelings, it would have amazing applications, especially in education.

I say sending music because you don't know how many times I tried to make music to sound like whats in my head, and I just got it WAY OFF! Some. of my fellow musicians also have often said the same thing. So what do you think could we be able to create symphonies with our thoughts some day?

Nathan Rockwell Ive had a very similar thought... imagine an environment within our mental space, or our imagination made real and social, with an atmosphere of classical music that is always adapting and always evolving almost automatically. Everyone has there own personal music and entertainment, and everyone has the ability to share these experiences with each other !

Am not a scientist or a philosopher but I have had several moments where I perceived brain to brain communications, those incidents were as vivid as the Palm of my hand. So brain to brain communication is as real as our very breathe, though only in crude ways. When you encounter it you will not even understand what just happened. However if they could be a physical way we can manipulate the mind and make out internet of it, that will be nice, and I believe it's possible.

I'm not sure if most people's minds are intellectually organized. It appears to me that most people's brains are emotionally responsive. During workplace communications people are filtering and editing their thoughts. No one really wants to share what they think. Thoughts are private. Then there is brain development through experience. I do not know what you have experienced by hearing about it, or even by thinking about it. My brain interprets from my personal past experiences and how I felt about them. This is my conditional response. (i.e., the emotion associated with the action.)

My first thoughts on this are that when you digitize something we have the ability to record it in various ways. That means that you wouldn't have to sit down with some one to have the brain talk with you could just access their recording of such. Much more similar to the Matrix reference made. It would also allow us to record emotional memories states as well.

One of the hardest thing about having a learning disabilaty is that teachers just don't understand and student just can't explain it. Wile this might not fix it win a teacher dose not want to understand, imagine if kids with autism or dyslexia could communicate there diser to learn and how they think. If any one wants me to explain this further let me know.

Hey man. The question at the end hmm: what I would actually do is: find a healthy group of people at a time when they're exercising, having a nice dream, or enjoying their life in a healthy way and try to invent the right sort of implant to promote that health, and then let society relate to those desired states rather than forced to follow any particular person or group of people. I mean, as opposed to scaring people away from fast-food, or ice-cream or cow products, let them instinctively decide by giving them a hint or taste of the desired natural and healthy way of eating which food that will be impossible to lie about it because we may have found a way to rreplicate brain signals but not a way to hack them. And i hope that we never find a way to hack a brain. EDIT: I meant that _I can lie to you if I can write to communicate_ but my brain cannot actually do that.

This technology is out of this world. One of the greatest progress human as made so far with of course fusion reactor. The implication of such technology surpass even the own physical barrier that we made in day to day life. The future of this technology is that we will see life as simple energy transfert and we won't have to use Equipment to actually transfert tought and emotion but simply do it on a simple basis with the power of or brain only.We could even communicate with people that live 10 000 mile from us and still receive tought instruction very neat technology.

Regarding telepathy or brain to brain communication technology, we must realize that thoughts will be UNEDITED and disorganized possibly random. Even out most articulate authors and speakers have to ponder on what they should say. Indeed people generally consider others who speak before considering their thoughts as lacking intelligence. How many would want their bosses to know what they really think of them. Secrets, confidences, and private desires if known might make things awkward or upsetting. How many people want others to know what small amount of personal information that is on their cell phone or what tasks it is used? A brain connection might reveal everything. This sophistication is far into the future, but possible. A computer interface might control machines, upload and download information, or store thoughts. Whatever is done with computers and controllers might be done with human thought. The ultimate Big Brother might be possible. We already have governments and businesses tracking what we search, where we go, who we communicate with, what we buy, gather Big Data on us, and with machine learning may make a fair guess as to what we will do next before we do. Would the Arab Spring have been possible if the various governments knew what was happening as the people thought about it? Governments, especially bad ones will want to know and have the money and power to do so. Thanks for the thought provoking video.

One thing I would probably try is creating hive minds. Could be cool or just kinda useless, maybe we could finally create a mind that knows areas of science at once, and contains the perspectives of hundreds if not thousands (possibly millions, since there is quite a lot of stuff to know.) of people with very different stories. Resistance is futile, prepare to be assimilated. This tek might have a big impact on religion, bringing a very solid sense of a whole, which I believe is a big part of their appeal for many of their members. Could be awesome for treating some mental disorders too. Might help democracy a bit, linking brains together into one for decision making. Might lead to some bad decisions though, because most people seem kinda stupid, but maybe I'm just judging based on the loudest ones. Sorry if I'm not making the most sense now, just woke up.

Personally, I don't have an immediate use for this; I'd prefer heavy research into this before wide spread use. My concern is the possible loss creativity derived from individualism. If this tech copies and projects a brain state from one person to another, will that recipient person's brain reject that framing state due to the unique organic pliability? What I like to see it used for is to treat mental disorders by softly and carefully shaping the ill person's brain. Procedure only authorize through the law and medically.
