It's a good start in detecting memories. I look forward to seeing where this particular technology goes next. I know I could use help with my memory!

Wow, it's surprisingly disturbing when the video feed is a few frames behind the audio. Something about it was just disquieting.

I believe the theory and utilisation of the machine are sound, however i agree it will have to come along way before it can be applied. On concept i see is helping psychiatrist and neurosience to help track where disturbing memories (trauma) are processed. Say for instance Post Traumatic Stress. They're alot of research involved where some neuro scientists believe that these memories travel a different course after the hypocampus straight to the peturity glands that trigger a fight or flight reaction or even the opposite, the feeling of being totally numb. Some may argue that the memories trigger a synapses elsewhere in the brain which is more in line with Epilepsy and even proscribed drugs to counter act it. It would be great to see physical evidence of where those harmful thoughts travel in order to perscribe better medicinal therapy and to help pyschologists choose more appropriate counselling and resilience training as no one reacts to their triggers the same way. I don't see a need to begin down the path of eliminating memories just better and more definitive evidence to how they effect certain parts of the brain more than others in order to give better assessemnts and provide more substantial therapy for those inflicted.

i think if we used this machine on someone in a coma we could probably figure out if they are just dreaming or, lets say someone he/she knew starts talking to him/her, if it starts triggering memories

i have limited knowledge in this area, but i believe it might take a quantum leap for the reading and physical viewing of memory (as we know it) to be a functioning reality.

Hmm, sounds like the experiment was more about detecting "recognition" rather than "remembering". Although they are of course closely related, it's not the same thing.

Maybe Robinsons machine could be used to better understand how do we learn and form memory of the subject we want to learn. Pretty Amazing we have come so far.

I like the idea of Wagner's machine and I personally believe we should expand on it to potentially develop a device in the future that could reconstruct memories back to their original format and allow us to accurately remember them without all the misinformation, this is just a thought and my own personal feelings about the idea, nevertheless, I would like to see that happen, a machine like this could be used to aid individuals with diseases like Alzheimers to regain their memories with 100% accuracy to the slightest detail.

A couple questions for the community and Fw Thinking 1) Do you think if we get the ability to communicate brain to brain, language will become obsolete, I suppose this also depends on the ability to communicate with multiple people. 2) Do you think all this memory research in addition to helping people with poor memory help people with ptsd? 3) what kind of implications and opportunities does the idea of communicating brain to brain has, especially if it can be with multiple people. Could we have network computing, but with people? Could we quickly run polls, elections? What do you think?

Finally, I may be able to communicate my memories with a machine psychically. Instead of a headgear for machine to read my memories, it can be done wirelessly. Maybe this can be used to extend human memory limitations?
