Saw a podcast recently, conversation about the before time and how they used to deal with Chinese teamers. Apparently if you start talking about the scroll of banishment and tianimen square it'll cause them to log off the game as all Chinese media is monitored but idk if this would be an effective strategy in dark and darker but a stream or video exploring the possibility would be neat 🤷🏻

I think I have very similar expectation in Dark and Darker. I played this wipe, grinded until I got multiple key worth of stuff (like 20?) Realized that I was going to die to a hard counter anyways stopped playing until they add more depth to the game. I love the game, I already played 500 hours since the early playtests, but I'll wait until they make better changes

No offense, but this game isn't like tarkov or other PvPvE games where you always have a chance to kill another player. It does need more depth and content, but ultimately, there are always going to be hard counters for certain classes and you need a major outplay to kill them. My buddy was downing geared barbs with almost base gear tonight as wiz and he was just better at the game to the point where he killed the hard counters. It's always been touted as a rock paper scissors like balancing.

There are good and bad matchups and good and bad fights, part of the game is not taking the bad fights and playing around the bad matchups. It's so clearly baked into this game that not losing is a kind of winning. It really just seems like some kind of advanced gear fear, and a lack fo patience for a game that is still very much in development.

"what i think" is that a two slot treasure item needs to be added. perhaps two, two slot treasure titems. idk if they need to be horizontal or vertical, like the cerimonial dagger or a goblet. though a "cutlery set" needs to be added, silver and gold, including chopsticks, spoon, knife, fork. all in the little tiny image. i have collected 1 of every treasure to upgrade, from gray - purple or whatever. inspired by the quest for the legendary gems. started with the 4 gray gems. noticed they dont have a cutlery set.

i know how they can balance landmine. make the lantern into a wiz light orb. now the lantern is useful and makes it a item choice tough decision. does my fighter need this shield or is rogue the meta. do i run slayer and let rogues kill me or use lantern.

i like this but maybe not a full reveal with the lantern just the white outline like when they first pop invis. But it updates every second or 2 in a certain radius around you. Could even have a stat roll "Light radius" that would be useful

A balanced version of this. They've also done everything they can to get people using torches more for immersion and failed. This seems to be a natural incentive. I'd still rather not spend all much throwing and item around every room all day but better than nothing if they never change it.

Idk why they took lantern away from fighter instead of going "oh people like to run lantern? Let's make lantern a viable build for more classes".

Said before and will say it again. Create a 'crystal sword mastery' perk. This perk would allow a wizard to wield the crystal sword WITH a 'magic staff'. For a true battle mage class. This also give them More close/mid range duelling capabilities whilst doing nothing for their long range capabilities. (wizard should be weak to long range). This has nothing to do with me wanting true Gandalf RP :) edit: example 1: Magic missiling someone, once they are close crystal sword is ready for finishing slash. Forces engaging player to move away from missile instead of push into it and tank the damage. The reason I suggest the 'STAFF' as the weapon to be held with the sword is the speed penalty is a fair mitigation for holding two powerful tools, and very well could be held with a 1 handed sword. Also gives use to staff, cause lets be real. No ones using staff.

defence mastery and projectile resistance could be combined into one skill all togeather. 10% armor, 10% project resist. weapon master being a tallent already reduces my damage alone by choosing that as a tallent. why must i lose 10% dmg

Hey i don´t know if you will be able to read all comments but i mainly play ranger and i am not having problems with rogues because of the footsteps perk. OFC you have to take a spear perk or something else out of the the perks but it doesn´t make it unplayable.

As a new player it was nice to play on Brazil servers where lobbies would only be half full. I am fresh starting the game and everyone else has level 20 and 1000s of gold to buy better white gear. Which doesn't sound like much but when you yourself cannot even buy potions or a better weapon... It feels a lot more significant. I know this is going to sound lame to a lot of people. I hope they make a game mode with half the amount of players. Just make it so the players have to kill the boss to be able to extract or something. So it's not just free loot. I mean for some it will be if you're good at boss mechanics. It just feels mega chaotic when me and my friend are being pushed from both sides and no idea what our classes do.

ive been hearing it alot recently and i agree with it as well, there's two things that will IMMENSLY help dark and darker's balance: 1. they NEED to improve the melee/ranged system, nobody actually fights with it because it's so clunky, and the only thing meta about it is who's faster than who, not whos "better" than who. we should have the Mordhau system (without the spinbotting ofc), feel that would fit the game more than chiv2's systems 2. the balancing needs to be DRAMATICALLY readjusted, if a few number tweaks is all it takes for a ranger or rouge to absolutely become a monster, and this is a repeat occurance, than the problem is either the class, the game, or the code. i'd rather keep the game and class, so lets maybe hit the code.

I don't know about now, but me and other people used to copy paste part of the wikipedia article for Tiananmen into chat in other online games loooong ago. If I remember it got a few chinese asshats to logoff. Chinese players have been ruining games for much longer than just Dark and Darker. Not just for Australians either... But all other people living in and around Asia, sometimes all the way to the American Westcoast and parts of even the EU. Having lived the first half of my life in Asia, close by to China, online games have ALWAYS been a nightmare because of them. Nobody in the region likes them (but they'd avoid saying it online due to the massive amount of Chinese jerks stalking the internet to attack anyone even slightly critical of China and Chinese culture... Even other Chinese people themselves)... Mostly due to their culture and its approach to cheating and general behavior (used to read a lot of chinese web novels and comics and daaaamn does it showcase their culture in many rather negative aspects...). Had a Chinese girlfriend for a long while and she had a lot of things to say about other chinese people, especially since she was "safe" in America (we were both foreign students though I quickly and luckily managed to get a green card)... I left America once I finished my studies sadly, so things ended there. I could still sometimes see how she'd fight against certain things she learned (was forced to learn, propaganda) in China. She was glad, however, to live outside of China and away from the culture.

Lol the fighter arc. The Dsync is pretty bad. Either it’s Dsync or interpolation I’m told. Made a couple videos myself about it because of how impactful not being able to reliably block with longsword makes the weapon so bad. Only thing I want from ironmace is some dedicated server work right now. I had to google ping lock just to be clear. If only there were a game with some kind of... lagometer hahaha. Crazy thing about online gaming is once you feel the zen of a flowing match you can sense the janky servers all around. The internet and hardware will always have latency. Youve never heard of ping before? Its the number that basically tells you how fast you can connect to the server/other people. Basically, if you live in australia and you have to connect to the US servers, your ping will be very high because your internet is basically sending your information all the way to the US and back, whereas people in the US are only sending their information to the US server and back, so it's much faster for them. Ping lock stops you from joining another server if your ping is too high (because you have a server closer to you that you should be joining instead), thus stopping the chinese teamers from joining servers that are too far, causing them to only team on their servers and ruin the game for themselves only.
