The Future Of World Trigger: Looking Ahead Of Season Three

With Season 3 now concluded, there is a lot we can talk about in regards to the future of World Trigger. Whether you read the manga or are an anime only, there is something in this video for you. I hope the theory makes you rack your brain in regards to the Away Mission Saga. There is a lot to come from this series and I have no doubt Ashihara will meet our expectations.

A movie with Kido as a main character would be an amazing characterization moment and overall a great way to expand the world. Though he may not be the first choice that comes to mind with a WT movie, seeing his shift from the old photo - this hopeful, smiling person to the man he's become, taken from his persepctive. Seeing his friends die/leave after the battle and him doing what he can to fight against his enemies... With the quality of the 3rd season it would be an experience and I'd be there for every second of it. As for the "failure" theory, The Anime Outlook talked about that possibility in one of his videos* and I wholeheartedly hope it will happen. I mean, in terms of ideas/strategy Osamu could pull through, but battle ability? Neighbourhood won't be a simulation in a familiar environment where you can think over possible scenarios. Border will send the best of the best and frankly as he's now, Osamu isn't high on the potential candidate list. That's where Galopoula bracelet would come in and Mikumo going into the Neighbourhood on his own, again showcasing his core trait (at least for me), which is his stubbornness and resolve to achieve what he wants. I want to believe that Osamu could walk away from Border (not entirely but for a duration of a few arcs), pulling a semi-Rinji Amatori to possibly save Chika and others. But whatever comes I just want World Trigger to achieve a satisfying conclusion at the end. *That video, as it would seem, got taken down along with his channel and that hurts a lot. I hope he can recover...

I have always through that Osuma would fail the away mission selection. It just doesn't cut it in raw stats when compared to basically anyone else. While raw stats have never mattered much before(a reasons why in really like this manga) they are esstenally vital for the away mission. It would create a really interesting situation if he failed and had some "alone time". It would force character growth among other things.

In terms of potential filler content, there are a lot of Rank Wars battles that we didn't see simply because T-2 didn't take part in them. There is lots of potential to see the rank wars from many of the other teams' perspectives, filling out where all their points came from and how the characters were developing between encounters with T-2. While filler content tends to have a terrible habit of growing in spectacle to a big boss battle climax at the end of the filler arc, constraining it to the rank wars would hopefully be enough to hold that back. The struggle for the last few points is enough to keep World Trigger fans happy.

I would love to see a movie of old border to be honest. Even a flash of Kugas father and his connection to early border...its unfortunate the manga is still in a place where the author is giving its much appreciated attention and detail.

I think you are on point! (insta sub). I steel feel like they find a way to restore Yuma's real body and Mikumo being the only one compatible using Yuma's black trigger. (Or must I say Yugo's black tigger) it's also a very tactical trigger and Mikumo doesn't need Replica to offer him strats. (Yes Yuma is smart but he is battle smart, he's different from Mikumo)

All of this theory are so interesting, and a fan from the first season, I don’t want kuga to die 🥲 that would be so sad, and also I’ve been waiting for so many years for season 2 and 3 and if that happen (and it’s possible), it will hurt me a lot 😓

My personal theory currently is that it will go the route of something similar to Fullmetal alchemist. Someone of the main four, notably kuga, will have to make some sort of great sacrifice for the others. As a result mikumo might sacrifice something of his in order to save kuga instead

​@@CastleOfAvalon For sure, it's an obvious route. We talk about WT not having shonen powerups, but black triggers are the one exception. Give Osamu a black trigger and suddenly his trion level stops being a problem - and by that point he should be experienced enough to at least hold his own defensively in hand to hand while applying creative problem solving in the heat of combat.

Great video. Ever second season two I've wanted them to reanimate season 1 and cut out the filler. Yeah a movie about the original Border is a great concept, I wonder if there are plans to include more detail about it in the manga?

A movie seems unnecessary in the greater narrative, though the elements are left over from in the show and continue to affect it. Unfortunately, though a Prequel Arc is a gold mine, it's also something that for an Anime is the logical conclusion. In fact, perhaps instead of immediately jumping on board the away mission, Ashihara decides to flesh out the "First War of Border" Arc, to more fully complete the "home-stretch" of content around border. However, there are multiple reasons Not to do this. The main reason is that it kills pacing, this would slow down pacing extremely. Then of course you have the matter that with traversing the Neighborhood, Ashihara has already met the prerequisites of the "exploration of the unknown" in terms of the mission. These missions take years, and require extreme tact and skill. They are a perfect training ground for all of the upper B-Rank individuals hoping to get onto the away mission, though without Bail-out (maybe) it might not be so safe.

I can very much get down with the idea of a flash back arc before things kick off without a doubt. Something similar is done like that in Jujutsu Kaisen and it’s done perfectly

@@YozakuraSensei As you stated in the video, it is good to flesh out an Anime's extended world building. But the merits currently don't line up with what's on the table. Considering the monthly Manga release, it's unlikely that Ashihara has the time to devote towards this major of a project. Currently the trajectory is that the Away Mission exams will go on for atleast 5 more chapters at the minimum. Then you have Away Mission training, the exams are the stepping stone, that means a training and combat arc is necessary, perhaps even A-Rank vs. B-Rank is on the table of Team Battles before take-off. Ashihara has two options there, either gloss over it, or completely flesh it out. Based on previous content, it seems likely that the "strategization" phase will go through, and we will see the progress of our Main Characters. Ashihara has been diligent about showing his main characters progress and growth, so it seems likely that the Away Mission Training will be drawn and storyboarded. After that its likely that we either jump straight into the mission, or something else occurs.

I actually find it kinda redundant with the rank wars and feel it makes narrative progress unnecessarily slow. Kinda wish that they went straight to the mission instead of another elimination round. I'm curious what people like so much about the current arc? I find it ok, but like I said, kinda slow.

I have a theory as well. Kuga die and become a black trigger for Osamu. However, since Kuga is already dying and is in a black trigger form (to sustain his life), he may become another colour trigger or known as the 'World Trigger'.

I also theorized this as well. Seeing as a black trigger is choosy and Yuma has huge trust in Osamu I feel like he will probably inherit the black trigger but I doubt he could use it since his trion isnt enough so it may end up in Border's hands for the meantime and when a 3rd great war erupts in Mikado city Osamu will probably step up and take opponents down with his black trigger. But another theory is that he can use it but only for a very short amount of time sp he has to choose wisely when to use it or else he'll end up defenseless so he might train with Karasuma since he has Geist which also has a time limit on how to utilize a trigger best with so little time available.

@@advrcity6562 I really like the idea of him having to pick and choose when to use it. In fact I think him having to either use the black trigger off the bat or use his regular trigger would be a pretty good intense way to go about the situation. Mikumo’s Trion volume is sure to grow so in due time he might just be able to inherit the black trigger suit from Yuma and use it in battle. Which by far would be the nuttiest thing because the amount of utility that suit has and his strategies would be so BUSTED 🤣

I totally agree. When I saw Osamu step up as a strategist I realized that if he had Yuma's black trigger he would be able to make so many strategic moves with it. Who knows maybe replica will be supporting him in the future to guide him with his black trigger.

I always thought of that too and maybe there's some Neighbor technology that can boost Megane-kun's trion levels, so he can use a black trigger or another kind of trigger

I don’t think that a movie about old border won’t work. The first reason is I don’t trust toei on writing WT and the second reason is if ashihara get to write for old border. I don’t think a movie would work cause ashihara writing is detailed and he would want to try flesh out every character in old border.

I'd watch a Remastered Season 1 and a prequel movie. BUT I'm split on the movie idea. If Ashihara puts effort into the movie, that's time taken from the manga development. So it'd have to involve a good team to act as a force multiplier for his efforts if he doesn't sacrifice his schedule.

The 'world trigger' could be the person who's strong enough to sustain something like a planet like aftokrator and somehow this person will become a 'black world level trigger' for osamu and make him strong AF. I also think he won't instantly make him strong but will make him a trap master first, and with a world level trigger he'll thoroughly overpower anyone. Pin me if I get it right✨🐧 Seems just given that Osamu has been weak for sometime.

SPOILERS: it would be awesome to see how border got their mother trigger in the movie alongside the first great war. i would also like to see how Gods come to be but i have this head cannon that Chika will be kidnapped by Hyuse on the away mission as a bribe to be let back into Afto in turn witnessing the making of a mother triggers God. They will take Chika but reject Hyuse all the same, leaving him basically with no side left to turn to since Kido would have his head and Afto wants nothing with him perhaps the whole Golden baby bird thing is really someone of high trion level who is sacrificially thrown into the mother trigger to give it their power for however long they can hold out for, and Afto's current God is depleting, i feel like it could also be one of those 3 that ran to the other side like Chika's older brother out the other sniper girl, also I'm sure everyone wants to see the poor bastard who scared Kido, when they were alive
