I think you're right that at some point, Jin is going to be taken out - either isolated or having to sacrifice himself. Put into a position where his own intervention is impossible. He might wind up becoming a Black Trigger in the case of him dying, which would, potentially, be incredibly OP. More than that, Jin could also surrender or even defect, relying on his side effect's intuition that there will be a crucial point at which he can get rescued, or a point at which he might be able to make a move that upends a whole terrible situation. But for that to happen, Border cannot collapse while he's not there. Having other people who can make the right decisions without him is actually the lynchpin upon which his side effect works. ---- I've got to wonder why he thought that losing Osamu would actually be more catastrophic for the future than losing Chika. Especially given that the future becomes muddier the farther it gets from him. My thoughts are that Osamu, rather than becoming a total badass later, winds up becoming a leader for the whole of Border - taking over the directorship. It makes sense with how much the higher ups comment on his big-picture thinking.

Very much agree on the second paragraph here in particular. As I was making this video I ended up re watching about 6 episodes from early season one around the time Jin surrendered Fujin, and I completely forgot that Jin mentioned Commander Kido had a “grand goal” and that the kids would be a huge help towards that. Something like that really makes me thing Mikumo has a bigger role to play down the line beyond an agent, and him taking over border as leader would be excellent because of his mind

I suprised you didn't mention the room full of chip. He is clearly anxious or stress about something, and hide it like a heavy smoker. I have always wonder how far into the future had jin actually seen.

After the away exams get wrapped up hopefully soon! (we are what 2 years into them by this point?) There will be the expedition. There the Border will have two options either send Jin to the expedition leaving them vulnerable or keeping Jin leaving the expedition team vulnerable. Regardless splitting the front will allow for one front to not have Jin and his foresight on to increase the stakes.

The Galapoula invasion definitely went out of its way to show Jin as a crutch Border leans on a bit too much. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get killed or captured soon. I'd lean a bit towards capture, since that leads to him potentially helping and/or manipulating another nation will beyond the scenes, and, being precognitive, that's an outcome he might take as an alternative to death.

Nice video man! And Jin should definitely be in trouble, but he should see it coming. Even so, having him is just the biggest asset Border has, even more than the Mother Trigger. Without him they would’ve already lost so much more. Will be interesting to see what happens to him in the future. Would you risk him in that big away mission? Or keep him back?

I do plan on covering the Away Mission Selection Exam is multiple parts upon is completion. It’ll be a long project given the amount of detail per chapter but please trust it will be coming :)

I'm doubtful Jin will be taken out due to the author liking him for plot conveniences and the fact he does NOT go on away missions. Since he does not wield Fujin anymore, he has the bailout function. Also when he does wield Fujin, its when its not needed by other members and when he does wield Fujin, its often in closed spaces where he has the upper hand. Even if he bails out, he can still connect with operators to help. Also if he were to become a black trigger, don't forget Yuma came to Meeden to turn his dad back from black trigger to human again. I hope we can see that happen

And noo, I don’t think he will die, nor taken out of commission, just think that he will not manage to save someone, like Tachikawa, and he will get all mad. Maan, getting a black trigger tachikawa would be absolutely insane

Let's not forget Hyuse knows about Jin's side effect since they made a bet, and let's be honest Jin always goes on about how his side effect told him so when shit happens. So if Hyuse does go back to Aftokrator and snitches, then I'm pretty sure they'll immediately come up with a plan to counter or capture Jin.
