Battlestar Galactica

Күн бұрын

A warm, warm welcome on the Galactica to Helena Cain.
Helena Cain facts: Helena Cain is an admiral in the Colonial Fleet and serves as the commanding officer of the Battlestar Pegasus. Cain is known for her authoritarian and ruthless leadership style. She takes a hardline approach in her pursuit of the Cylons, the cybernetic race that wiped out most of humanity. Cain's character arc explores the moral complexities and the sacrifices she is willing to make in order to ensure the survival of the human race.
From "Pegasus" (Season 2, Episode 10): There's jubilation on Galactica when the Pegasus, thought to have been annihilated with the rest of the colonial fleet, appears out of nowhere. However, the celebrations don't last long. Adama clashes with Pegasus' Admiral Cain, and two of Galactica's crew are sentenced to death.

When she landed you could literally see how excited she was because she would be in command of this new fleet with ships, parts, and people. She was looking around at her new treasure. Then her demeanor changed when she realized that there was someone there that outranked her with Roslin. What a great scene.

Yes, I noticed that too. I have always wondered if the script called out for her to react in those ways, if she was just taking direction, or if it was just the actress performing as she interpreted the character.

She didn’t care about Roslin, and I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t take orders from a president she sees only as a figure head. Cain would have strip mined this new fleet as she did the last one, but because didn’t know where Adama landed on that she kept that in her back pocket. Later she “reassigned” key personal from Galactica and replaced them with her own people. Adama’s days and a commander were numbered if he was slow to stop it.

This series is right up there with The Expanse as the best Sci-Fi series ever put on TV. I watched it for the first time a few years ago and loved it. I found a link that showed a whole bunch of mini-movies and extras that go with the BSG series and what order to watch them in. It really added a lot to the series and filled in some gaps. Realistically the Cylons would absolutely total humans in physical strength and durability. The would likely be even stronger than the T800 from the first 2 Terminator movies. That would give them a HUGE advantage in the space battles because the G forces experiences when flying around in those starfighters would be brutal to the human body and though not totally indestructible the Cylons would be able to endure way more G forces than a human could. Same goes for the remake. Even though the inside of those raiders was a bunch of weird organs (it was gross when the remake version of Starbuck went in there). The biological inside of the remake version of vipers would not be totally indestructible either but since they were SPECIFICALL genetically engineered to be inside those ships they would be way better at enduring G forces than the human body that did not at all evolve for that.

Admiral Cain (for all the awful things she did) was right about one thing: the war was not over. The survivors hadn't found the perfect hiding place called New Caprica just yet and they didn't know about the Cylon virus either. Had she been a better and more considerate person she (the one officer willing to continue to fight) wouldn't have been assassinated by that Cylon and the same Cylon wouldn't have given the location of New Caprica away by detonating that nuke. The civilians would have been safe on NC while the 2 battlestars would have gone on to find Earth and on their way stumbled upon the Cylon virus. This war was still winnable. But Cain and Adama were the 2 extremes (one not caring about anything else - no civilians, nothing - but the war, the other not even believing the war could be won). As a result we saw the slow death of a civilization in four seasons.
@jamesxiaolong2199
@jamesxiaolong2199 Жыл бұрын
The war WAS lost already, even if the two Battlestars went off to hunt Cylons, every hit would have catastrophic in the long term especially since they had no repair facilities. Their best chance was fleeing with survivors. Their occasional strikes back were crucial in the exodus but they could never win the war. You can’t leave the civilians undefended against a genocidal opponent, doing so dooms your civilization, nor should you risk your guardians needlessly.
@TylerGarcia-uf2md

@jamesxiaolong2199 Correct there is no way to win this war anymore two battlestars would due little more than sting the cylons and put the rest of humanity at risk of being wiped out by them. In this breed of war their is no winning only surviving and praying to see tomorrow. that is how you win is by living, by surviving and by thriving everyday you live is a victory and that is the only victory you can hope to achieve against an enemy that is hell bent on your destruction to turn around and fight them will equal their victory and your death that’s all you can hope to accomplish with that way of thinking period
