Try to compare this to today's NBA, it's like it keeps getting worse imo. I grew up with AI and Kobe so maybe it's just me. And I watched all Jordan archives and just basketball in general, the fouls come too easy now. Durant is imo the only one if he really wanted to could destroy nba, Giannas too, and a few others but it seems like the spacing is fukd up or something idk. This was more entertaining

Kobe in his prime played in the most stacked western conference, having beaten more 50+ win teams than Jordan and LeBron (no hate to those two legends). On the all time scoring list coming off the bench first 3 years of his career, Kobe in his prime in today's game would be too much

@@jhoodrico569 Because Dirk is such a great defender? Since you're obviously a Kobe backer, before the 2005-2006 season you should see Kobe's stats vs. Top 5 defenses. They're really bad. I mean mediocre, although he had some good games in between. This is just the 2004-2005 season, (I've found more) Against the Spurs 8 of 22, 35%. vs. the Grizzlies 4 of 19, 21%, vs. the Rockets 7 of 20, 35%, vs. the Grizzlies 2 of 16, 12.5%, vs. the Spurs, 5 of 16, 31%, vs. the Spurs 6 of 19, 17%, vs. the Grizzlies 4 of 8 (Only played 14 minutes in a blowout loss, vs. the Rockets, 4 of 19, 21%. Good shooting games vs. a Top 5 defense: vs. the Rockets in January 2005, 10 of 19 for 27 points in a Lakers win. 6 of 12 for 20 points in a blowout loss to Detroit. 12 of 24 for 37 points in a win over the Pacers was his best. Reggie Miller was 5 of 16 for 11 points. BUT Reggie would get him back when Kobe went 5 of 14, 36% 12 points to Reggie Miller's 13 of 18 for 39 points. And Reggie was 39 years old.

This was at a time when scoring 40 would put you on the front page of the paper. It amazes me how these analysts such as Nick Wright and Shannon Sharpe use stats to literally try to sabotage Kobe's career and then apologize profusely when he passes because they know they will never have an opportunity to apologize to his face now that he's dead. It's pathetic the amount of hate and disrespect Kobe received because simply people didn't like him or he was in the way of your favorite player being recognized as an all-time great, for example Lebron. Kobe was the best player in 2000-2010 decade, and to be honest it is not even debateable. He went to the finals 7 times and won 5 rings in 10 fucking years. It hurts so bad knowing how someone so skilled and talented will forever have a career tarnished because of other people's greed and selfishness.

Kobe said he felt better in this game than he did scoring 81pts... he wouldve got at least 90pts if he played 4th quarter. I personally think this performance was better than his 81pt game. He looked so fluid in this game, like poetry in motion...

Outscoring a whole team in just 3 quarters of play, who else has the ability to do that nowadays....no one! Not even steph nor klay nor kd can do such a thing even if their all healthy and playing. He’s the GOAT thats for sure atleast in my eyes and in the eyes of millions who grew up idolizing him! RIP Kobe i will forever miss you. #Mamba4ever #Blackmamba #Mambacita ☝️🙏

The most crazy thing about this game was that he had 62 and the Mavericks had 61 as a team at the end of that 3rd quarter 🤭🤯

The best memory I have about this is that Avery Johnson (Mavs' coach) would be the West's All-Star coach. During the West's shootaround practice, he was kidding around w/ T-Mac (HOU): "what you averaging against us this year, 45ppg?" Then Kobe comes over & Avery Johnson quips: "what about you Kobe, what you averaging against us this year. 55?" Avery Johnson sure remembered Kobe hanging 62 against his Mavs 2 months.
