62 points in 3 quarters. Happiest day of my life, I remember it vividly, December 20 2005, the same night my daughter was born. Farewell Kobes 😢

Try to compare this to today's NBA, it's like it keeps getting worse imo. I grew up with AI and Kobe so maybe it's just me. And I watched all Jordan archives and just basketball in general, the fouls come too easy now. Durant is imo the only one if he really wanted to could destroy nba, Giannas too, and a few others but it seems like the spacing is fukd up or something idk. This was more entertaining

Good shooting games vs. a Top 5 defense: vs. the Rockets in January 2005, 10 of 19 for 27 points in a Lakers win. 6 of 12 for 20 points in a blowout loss to Detroit. 12 of 24 for 37 points in a win over the Pacers was his best. Reggie Miller was 5 of 16 for 11 points. BUT Reggie would get him back when Kobe went 5 of 14, 36% 12 points to Reggie Miller's 13 of 18 for 39 points. And Reggie was 39 years old.

This was at a time when scoring 40 would put you on the front page of the paper. It amazes me how these analysts such as Nick Wright and Shannon Sharpe use stats to literally try to sabotage Kobe's career and then apologize profusely when he passes because they know they will never have an opportunity to apologize to his face now that he's dead. It's pathetic the amount of hate and disrespect Kobe received because simply people didn't like him or he was in the way of your favorite player being recognized as an all-time great, for example Lebron. Kobe was the best player in 2000-2010 decade, and to be honest it is not even debateable. He went to the finals 7 times and won 5 rings in 10 fucking years. It hurts so bad knowing how someone so skilled and talented will forever have a career tarnished because of other people's greed and selfishness.

I wish I was watching basketball during that era. I was a kid and didn’t really get into basketball till 2010(the end of the Kobe Era). Despite that, Kobe was pretty much known by everyone when I was younger regardless of if you watched basketball or not. The guy is iconic.

The best memory I have about this is that Avery Johnson (Mavs' coach) would be the West's All-Star coach. During the West's shootaround practice, he was kidding around w/ T-Mac (HOU): "what you averaging against us this year, 45ppg?" Then Kobe comes over & Avery Johnson quips: "what about you Kobe, what you averaging against us this year. 55?" Avery Johnson sure remembered Kobe hanging 62 against his Mavs 2 months.
