I managed to snag two from the original release (I had to go to two different Target stores to accomplish it, though). The original release of the figure was on the shelf for all of 15 minutes (and I'm being generous, there), and after that it was sold out everywhere. So many people never managed to get one, and I'm glad Hasbro has re-released it, as I agree it's the one of (if not the) best Black Series figure ever released. Great segment!

Love the Gam Guard, definitely one of the best in the line! I don’t army build, but with the RotJ rerelease out now, I’ve been thinking about picking up a second one. It just feels like one of those figures that you need to have two of, like the Imperial Royal Guard. A third one would have looked so nice as a tasty snack for the rancor! 😢

@@OutOfTheBasement it shouldn’t be a “Hope Thing” though….. there is nothing stopping them than releases it in ROTJ 1983/84 Kenner packaging. It’s a perfect display piece for a home Entertainment setup as well. Like a giant Marshmallow Man or Green Ghost(Forgot his Name ) from Ghostbuster. We don’t need all that articulation anyways. $159 US. The Lousy release output by Disney on ROTJ 40th doesn’t help either.

@@darthwizzywizard If LF or Disney says no then there certainly is something stopping them from doing it. They don't have free reign of what they can release. Although at this point I would certainly take it with less articulation for cheaper. I don't think $159 is realistic at all. The 3 figures and a piece of the bar was like $105. Using other examples of expensive items in the line. I just doubt they could get a Rancor out at $159. Snowspeeder was $120 and was a net loss on their side. -Justin

The Gam Guard was my figure of the year in it’s Red and Black box Target exclusive release and it may again be my fig of the year this year even though it’s a re-release. I LOVE THE GAM GUARD!

Had 2 pre Rancor era..then bought 3 more to use with my Haslab RANCOR.....such a great figure and im well stocked on him but anyone who doesn't have this figure needs to get it and hold it in hand to truelly see what a Banger of a figure he is!

Agreed, that it is one of the best Black Series figures, with it's sculpt, paint, 3 weapons and the great use of soft goods. It's interesting that they went with soft goods, because if it was just plastic instead then it would not really have hindered articulation. But, glad they did.

@@DavidEdge69 I'm sorry for your loss (Rancor). I think we all would have liked Hasblow to extend the deadline even another day I think it would have been funded for all who wanted him. Of course I still put a lot of the blame on Hasbro. I honestly never got any impression of the team being excited about the Rancor. Their lackluster endorsement, the crappy tiers, two other Haslab projects going at the same time, and having it during the heaviest shopping time of Christmas were all bonehead ideas. I think a caveman could have done better. As much as people say that the tiers didn't matter, the tiers are supposed to inspire people to invest their money into the project. And what did the Hasblow executives give us a Gam Guard that we all expected, and then cardboard and plastic bones. I'm sorry that the cardboard background and plastic bones don't do it for me. Then they gave us Crumb Bumb who wasn't in the pit at all but they already had a mold of so no extra expenses. And finally Luke Skywalker. Of course after the cardboard and bones the project screeched to a halt. Then last minute they were willing to give us a Rancor Keeper but it was too little too late. Like I said I blame Hasbro for their lackluster caring about what the black series collectors wanted. The failure was at least 70% their fault.

Thank God Hasbro never did a figure of that Gamorrean Guard atrocity we saw in The Mandalorian/Book Of Boba Fett, the skinny sumo wrestler looking horror. This original Gammy is one of the best creations of the OT. To disgrace the species the way they did in the new Disney media is unforgivable. Just another reason to fall in love with ROTJ all over again, while SMH with Disney’s version of this classic character.

Hey, guys. I'm back. Sorry I left. I've been going through some stuff. Remember how I had most of my figures stolen when I moved? Well, the Dark Side hit me again. I broke up with my girlfriend. While I was out, she gave the rest of my figures to places like The Salvation Army and The Goodwill. There wasn't a single figure left. My first reaction was that I'm out for good. I like collecting too much to give it up though. I'm back in the game, starting over. As I write this, there are seven Black Series figures on a shelf over my desk. I hope I'm welcome back.

Hello Nate and Justin thanks for sharing your thoughts on this banger figure the Gam Gaurd. This is a true deluxe figure and was treated as a deluxe figure. I missed the initial Target release, I was just getting into the black series figures at that time. But I did get one on ebay for about $30 I think 🤔. Then when he was rereleased as fan channel exclusive I got my second. And now I have one on preorder at Target but no update about shipping him out. I'm also regretful of the Rancor debacle. Now I can't have a Rancor slurping up a Gam Guard moment. Thanks again guys for the video and I think the original Purge Trooper was a great figure. I just can't remember if you guys covered him already? Take my advice... Don't get old. LoL Later guys, Tom
