Dutch was such a kind soul (apart from being a gang leader of course) when he was younger, it’s truly sad to see him turn into what he did

He was never kind. It was just his charm. He enthusiastic and could almost have enough confidence to trick everyone to believe he could get them to Tahiti. But as the story goes on Dutchs charm doesn't work as well fro example. Agent Milton didn't listen to Dutch so he shot Hosea. Everyone started losing faith in Dutch and that's why he worked with Micah because Micah wanted Dutch for everything. Dutch didn't even care about the gang. For example like when he left Arthur and Abigail and refused to save John.

She saw Tilly as her own daughter though, she even tells the tards who stole her that Tilly was hers. Arthur, John, and Tilly were the only ones raised by Dutch , Hosea and Susan in the sense that they were literally raised by them with teaching them how to write, read, hunt.. etc. In fact Susan was there before Annabelle even came into the picture making her like the adopted mom of the 3. Hell she didn't even hesitate to take Arthurs side against Micah, Bill, and Javier despiter her harping about how they are all family just a few minutes earlier.

tilly has always been a favorite of mine for some reason. she's so funny, and pretty, and like karen (and unlike mary-beth, whose as useful as molly, although she is an amazing character) she could do something productive for the gang. (i like mary-beth, but she was just so passive in the game, the coach robbery mission is the only exciting thing she did. and to be something for dutch to ogle at). i also like karen a lot, it just makes me so sad to see her life deteriorate as the story went on. she was definitely a metaphor for the gang falling apart. the drink always had a hold on her, she was putting whiskey into her coffee in chapter 2! "maybe wait till lunch, hey?". she aided in a successful bank robbery which gives arthur a lot of money, so that makes me happy! it's just so sad to see her, in beaver hollow. she needed rehab badly. i'm surprised there isn't a grave anywhere in her name somewhere, or we could maybe find her at a saloon somewhere, in even worse shape than lillian powell. but yeah, she's probably dead by 1907.

I can't remember but I think Uncle once mentioned that he and Dutch "go way back" but he never explains when or how exactly he joined. At one point he was the gang's pimp, and even introduced Abigail to them. Unlike the others he seems to keep Uncle around to make sure that everyone is in good spirits rather than being expected to bring in food or money.

Mary-Beth was caught pickpocketing people and picked up by Dutch, Karen was probably a drunken mess when Dutch found her, Susan was basically like Molly. I'm not entirely sure how Molly met Dutch, but she ran away from her rich family in search of adventure. This is why she never wants to do any work around camp, she thinks it makes her look like a servant girl. Since Molly grew up with the mentality that other people should do work for her, she stuck by this when the gang brought her in. This is why whenever Arthur mentions doing some work around camp to her, she shrugs it off by saying she's not much company at the moment. And I think one of the members met Uncle at a bar and brought him to camp, where he later brought Abigail.

Would love if RDR3 would be set somewhere around the timezone of 1855-1885 hell the story could even play out throughout that time frame, when the west was as wildest, perhaps playing as Dutch or Hosea, going deeper and further back, either that or make a 3rd guy... And no not Jenny or the other one that died on the mountain, like Arthur it could be someone unmentioned... Perhaps even before the Van der linde gang was formed, but obviously you need to end them cause that's the "redemption" part of it all... Seems like quite an ideal way of doing things, seeing as going backwards is kind of what the games do. And to be set in 1855-1885 would be real awesome, not when the wild in the west was ending but at it's peak.

All we know is that he is a new member, by the beginning of the game he's been walking with them for six months, we know his dad was black and his mother Indian, her mother died when he was a kid and he left his father when he was 13. He roamed alone through his whole life until he met Dutch and the gang, he mentions that he was treated with respect and justice by them, which was something that he pretty much never had before.

If Lenny didn’t join the gang the bank heist Arthur probably would have been killed since Arthur was right behind Lenny or maybe they never found that camp site at the swamps and never even made contact with the saint denis and headed somewhere completely different one small change and the whole game could be different really makes you think
