I didn't gel with Moffat's 'fairytale' take on the show and felt he utterly wasted, arguably, the greatest actor to ever inhabit the role in Capaldi with sub standard rubbish. As for classic Who, avoid NO Doctor, they're all great although Colin Baker, sixie, got a bum deal at the time with a more irritable take on the Doctor. He was thankfully fully redeemed by early Big Finish audios, which gave us the sixth Doctor we all wanted.

The moment you mentioned Steven Moffat is the writer, I knew the writing will seem like a dog chasing its own tail. He did it to Sherlock, he did it to the entire Peter Capaldi Doctor Era. Thanks for reviewing this crap, the reviews in general have been more fun to watch than the actual show itself since RTD came back to ruin his career be cracking on with the failed Chittiker run. Thankfully I still kept Ncuti’s advice to touch grass (which will also be guaranteed for the next series), and rewatched Voyage of the Damned followed by watching a classic Robot Wars episode. Hearing how bad this Xmas special was really highlighted just how bad of a state Dr WHO is in, and hopefully after series 15 it’ll be put to rest.

There is a lot of things that you can do with a concept of a room with a mysterious door, that no one knows where it leads. Yet the concept of where the door leads to in a hotel room where everyone knows, that the door leads to the next room. Davis treats it like he re-invented the wheel. Making it impossible for the door to lead to the next room, if there shouldn't be another room next door.

Seems like noted creators like Russell T Davies have had several struggle sessions so when they return to their famous IPs, they bring a hatred of that IP into their reboot, reimagining, etc.
