Shout-out to Forgotten Weapons, whose footage I cribbed from liberally in this video. Check out their channel here: kzbin.info EDIT: And apologies for some of the mispronunciations, Boss! I tried to make sure I said everything properly but still made a few small mistakes. I even already knew that '1911' is said like the year, after all that's why the called 1911 the 'year of the gun' - but alas, I forgot! Don't you hate that?

One thing about the mk.23 socom is that it has a slide lock that prevents the slide from moving backwards cycling another round. When a gun is suppressed the action of the slide moving back Is still loud and can be heard from pretty far away which you may not want during covert operations

One interesting fact about the "SOCOM" pistol: The laser-aiming module the pistol has in MGS1 was (most likely) never actually used in the field. Because that was only on the initial prototype(s) that H&K submitted for the US SOCOM's trials. The final aiming module (adopted/used by the US SOCOM with this pistol) is FAR more compact.

The things shown while talking about chaff are, in fact, flares. Also, there is a more modern version of chaff that can be used on aircraft. I'm a veteran helicopter mechanic, so I'm only 100% sure about helicopters, but we never used them because they apparently made a huge mess. This due to the fact the chaff dispenser is pointed up toward the rear of the rotor blades. 😬

All those tech things you showed off in the video are fairly accurate to the technology we have today. There is one technology you left out. Do we have Metal Gears in this day and age? Are they accurate to what we see in the games? Are they legit tanks with legs? More importantly, are they capable of launching imb missles? I know most of the game's fiction. But I'd include every piece of technology from the game and see if it exists in our world and that includes Metal Gear or something Metal Gear's based off of.

SOCOM is not US Army Special Operations Command. That's USASOC. SOCOM is an inter-service command which, along with it's subordinate command JSOC(Joint Special Operations Command) is composed of teams from all 4 major services. To clarify: AFSOC, USASOC, NAVSPECWARCOM, and MARSOC all fall under SOCOM. Not the other way around.
@DJ_k3bab4 жыл бұрын
why do you say it correctly and then laterr say Heckler and Kosh? Also the 1911 is called "Ninteen Eleven" aslo, SOCOM is a joint operations command directly under the Department of Defense, not the Army SOCOM Employs every branch of the US military, including the Marine Corps The Mark 23 "SOCOM" Pistol is also obsolete and rarely if ever used in service. It was deemed too heavy, too bulky, and not sufficently lethal enough to be a viable alternative to other PDWs, thus funding was halted and H&K only sells these pistols to the consumer market now

06:50. I'm sorry, but you are wrong about the MLRS. That system that you see was called the M270. Now we use the M270A1 (M270A2 is ready, but not fielded yet). The rockets and missiles fired from the system is GPS guided, however, it still requires personnel INSIDE the vehicle to flip a switch in order to fire said rockets or missiles loaded in the system. The M270D you are referring to is an declassified version of the system that the government sells to other nations, obviously with its capabilities more limited to what the US version can do.

If you, yes you, take a brief look at modern frog militia police uniform they have same type of collared jacket with wide shoulders that Snake does in MGS1 cdn.24.co.za/files/Cms/General/d/2957/418677dd0b794a38a9081f743d696f44.jpg except colored in camo add it to the fact that Nikita is 100% reference to La Femme Nikita (non pret. : The Woman Nikita) film (very good by the way, and I don't usually get interested in films where woman is main character) or Campbell's fascination with french rations as being most delicious ones and it is clear that for some reason in MGS univers mutts are biggest fans of France, naming missle launchers in their honor and dressing their most valuable asset into their uniform when they can.
