I saw The Ghost Inside perform live a couple of days ago. I had never heard a song by them, but they blew me away and the drumming specifically was incredible. I had no idea about he and the band’s accident and subsequent journey back to making music and performing live.

When his mother cried, I broke down, I have no idea what that’s like to relearn your passion and instrument but that would definitely be my mother as well, supporting me and cheering me on every step of the way because she’s one of the only people on earth who understands how important music and drumming mean to me. Nothing but props for this dude, such a huge inspiration and I’m so proud of the whole band!

hi Andrew, i played drum for 3 years, self taught and i always hate myself for playing suck, for cant keep the tempo, for always drop the stick down, for... cant read the drum node. There was a lot of times that i want to quit this and back to my normal life where i never have to try to anything, just work from 9 to 5, earn some, pay some but after i saw this video, downloaded, rename it "WATCH THIS AND KEEP PRACTICING"... you know! I would love to meet you, give you a hug and say "thank you!" for inspiring me every, every moment in my god damn life! :) i dont need any marvel film anymore cuz you are now my truly hero!

For those of you who are unaware of how this story played out.....just look up some 2022 footage of Andrew's band, The Ghost Inside. He is back to playing double bass patterns for whole songs..in a way that would make a lot of 2 legged drummers jealous. He doesn't use his prosthetic leg. He uses a device that his dad made...where he rests his 'stump' on what almost looks like a little padded stool..which is has a pole that is attached to his right pedal. Instead of using his foot, he essentially works his pedal with his hip....lifting his stump. When it comes down, the pedal is pushed..hitting the drum..and triggering his sample.

As a drummer I feel like this is the most underrated story since Travis Barker in that plane crash. This is a story that so many people can reflect on, learning to never give up on their passion. Keep it up, Andrew!

@BrianOfAteionas8 жыл бұрын
Whoa! When I see this, I think of the possibilities. You could even have a leg that connects directly up. Completely bypass the pedal since there is no need, giving yourself a more direct control of the beater. Perhaps you could have varying weights on the leg where the position is variable. Personally, I think through practice and clever engineering it would possible for you to have even better control with your right leg, and in a way that no one else does. Think differently, play differently, be unique. This could be a blessing in disguise.

Check out Joe Hardy. AKA No Leg Joe. For his main kick pedal, he has a rod mounted in the middle of the foot pedal. (similar to the rod connecting 2 pedals on a double kick pedal) The other end of the rod has a cup and he slides his stump into it. You rock!! Get a hold of me or better yet Joe, if you need some more guidance. I LOVE DRUMS!!
