The Giant by Dave Carroll | Official Music Video | Until One Day

I always get excited when I release a new song or music video… In this case I’m especially thrilled, because today I’m releasing the music video for my song The Giant. Not only is the song one of the most meaningful I’ve ever written, this is the first music video that I produced and directed with my own gear as part of an intense cinematography course with my instructor, Steve Richard.
Steve Richard was the director of photography for the United Breaks Guitars videos but he is also a world class fine art photographer and talented cinematographer. With Steve’s help, I invested more of myself in this video than any video I’ve ever done. The Giant represents a big step for me towards my goal of being able to make high end professional-quality videos on a limited budget by learning the craft of lighting, shooting and editing my own work. The skills I’m developing with videos like this one are transferable to work I will do for others, so that’s another reason to celebrate.
This song lives on my latest recording, Until One Day, but it is also the theme song for my first illustrated children’s book, Tom The Tomato Plant. At the end of the story, I added the lyrics, sheet music and QR to access the song for an enhanced experience.

The message in the song is simple: We all have a giant within us, and I believe a common life challenge is realizing that The Giant not only resides in you but IS you and always has been your true self. The luckiest people are the ones who discover that early.

You're right that UBG pigeon holed me in the eyes of a mass audience who often want an artist to stay within the frame they put you in. But you found this song and you liked it. You aren't the only one thankfully, and I write songs because I love to do it. I do it first, for myself, but it would be nice if everyone who watched UBG would take one listen to this song and a few others and expand their frame of what they think I'm about. UBG opened many doors for me though and was the best thing that ever happened in my career. It's the reason you and I are talking now. Thanks for listening.
