Peter, you CRUSHED the story!!! You truly are a MASTER storyteller and this video is a prime example of that. I've realized over the past few years that "giving the gift of photography" is something that actually makes me feel not only better but that I'm accomplishing something. Whether it's giving the gift of a MASSIVE print, a photo book, smaller prints or sending someone the files...seeing the smiles on people's faces when they see their images is priceless. I hope people hear your message loud and clear. Give the gift the gift of photography any way you can. So many people go through life only seeing snapshots of themselves. But when you can capture a "photograph" and give it to someone, it's something they will cherish for a long long time. Thank you for including me in your fantastic story. Jared Polin

This made me cry. Last april my grandpa died. I took a picture of him and my grandma right before he would get sick. After couple of months of his passing, I printed the photo, and gave to my grandmother. She couldn`t stop crying. She said "This is the best gift anyone in my life gave me, thank you" And that meant so much to me. So when he said giving the gift of photography, I understand.
@pelisinho4 жыл бұрын
Me too, something similar happened to me. Last time my grandmother came to visit I took a picture of her, she was a bit annoyed and wanted to go home earlier but she still managed to smile for the camera. My grandmother died last November and on Christmas I printed the picture and offered it to my aunt (which was my grandmother caretaker), she also cried alot but now keeps it in her room, so she can always see her mother smilling.

I have also been getting my Photo News Fix for quite some time and believe this collab was put together perfectly. Jared seems to be a pretty cool individual and over the past year as I have listened to him I learned that this is the kind of individual he is. Action over words. this is why i love analogue cameras, everyone forgets what type of photos you take and then when you, the owner of the camera, get the photos developed and give your friends some photos and they will remind what happened that time. I love the way they start smiling like crazy and get excited over what happened that day. I usually try to plan my analogue shots on moments where i know the person is gonna forget that i took a photo, but when they'll see it again theyre going to go crazy or love it so much

I was kinda judged when i changed careers to be a photographer/cinematographer... but such little gifts made the people i love most... love what i do and respect it. The timing of this is blowing my mind. Just filmed a video about using the YT platform for good. We specialize in wedding films, so we're going to find a couple in hardship and give them the wedding their story deserves. Would LOVE to send you this film tomorrow when it goes live. BECAUSE! To pull this off, we're going to need to convince other wedding vendors to donate their resources, so we reallllly need this launch film to get as much exposure as possible. Flowers, cake, etc. will be easy, but a venue? And catering? That's going to be asking a lot!

I’ve probably watched this video like 3 times but tonight it was even better. That’s because tomorrow, Sunday, my best friend is coming over to my house to see the pics from his wedding. This is my first wedding as a “photographer”. I’m not new to weddings though, I’ve been a wedding professional in the entertainment (dj/Mc) for a decade. But this was my best friend’s wedding. They weren’t going to do a big wedding so they didn’t need me for entertainment, but they asked to not only shoot their engagement photos...but also their special day! Such an honor. I can’t believe they trusted me for that. I loved it. And in a few hours they’re going to see the pictures for the first time...at my house...on a 4K tv. Can’t wait for them to see it...I’m dying to see their reactions. Sorry for the long read.

I've been wanting to make a video about why printing photos is such a great thing. Our family dog passed away and the loss hit my dad hard so I put a black and white photo of them together in a nice frame. Not sure many other gifts can have that effect.

This was really nice, good choice of music it really set the tone. I really Love this aspect of photography. I am getting a little personal here but for some reason feel like I should. My oldest son went through cancer (cancer-free for 3 years now) and I took lots of photos and videos. It was some of the hardest times of our lives and the photos, though painful sometimes, reminds us how lucky and blessed we are that we still have him in our lives. I just reshared a memory on Facebook of all the nurses giving him a certificate and gift for his last treatment, it was one of the happiest days in our lives. I just love that we are able to relive these moments both good and bad to remind us of well everything. I was able to "give the gift of photography" this last night, I did a lot of portraits for work and one of my coworkers really liked her photo so I sent it to her. Thank you for sharing this moment with us and so many others over the years. Keep Rocking it out.

I was out having a few beers on a trail by the Potomac with a friend who was playing banjo & noticed a family with a 2/3 yo who stopped to watch. The looked so happy that I had to duck behind some tall grass and get a candid shot of them. We ended up seeing them later down the trail and I let them know I'd taken these photos, asked if they wanted me to send them so they could have the memory and they were thrilled. As young parents with a toddler they have very few photos with all of them in it, as one is usually taking them - they just happened to stop because the kid was fascinated by the music. I sent them a small digital album to capture the moment, the look of wonder in the kids face, and a really sweet happy young family and they were beyond joy. I didn't know them, I'll probably never see them again, but I was so happy to give them this gift. Didn't cost a thing, but felt really good.

Also I did this challenge just a few weeks ago for Christmas! A model and friend I photographed a long time ago had mentioned how she loved the hero shot of the photoshoot from a couple years back and wished she could blow it up as a poster. Fast forward to Christmas 2019 and I gave that image - printed on metal - to her as a poster gift and not only did it feel good but there was such a moment that she was overwhelmed with happiness when I surprised her with it and it was then that I realized how important it is to print. I’ve been printing for the last couple of months because of it!

The only thing that would have made it better would have been if he never told you about it, and just sent it to you. I bet you relive the moment and hear the crowd every time you stand and look at it.

Wow I've been following you for about 2 years now, because when I bought my t7i I didn't know a thing about photography. Now as an amateur photographer I still love your videos. But I've never felt so driven into photography before. The phrase "capturing a moment in time" changed everything I thought about photography! Thanks Peter!!!

I took pictures of my Dad working in the garage he would build things work on cars he could fix anything. I noticed one day that his hands were so scared by hard work. I have a fav picture of his hands. It makes me cry because I miss him but I had such amazing ordinary conversations with him. Your right Pete photography captures a moment in time and lives on forever 💗

I love your message in this video. I have been giving out photographs to my fellow college students. They always say they really like my landscape photography photos, so I provide them for them as a background wallpaper on their laptops. It’s amazing to see how happy they are with those wallpapers. It fills me with joy every time I see one of my photographs on their wallpapers. Thank you for this video and the beautiful message!

I remember way back when Jared was not even close to 1M subscribers, talking on a RAW Talk around the time when Peter was absolutely sky rocketing into KZbin stardom, and you could tell Jared was a bit surprised by it, and while never mentioning Peter by name, said something like "I don't know how that Canadian does it". After that, came the episode with Tony Northup and the make up, it's excellent to see all of you guys just get along and become friends. You all have to gain when you work together, nothing to lose. Happy to see Jared "grow up". You're all unique in your ways, and these collaborations are good for everyone, including your fan bases. Keep up the great work, and excellent capture Jared!
