I really needed to hear the dilemma letter. I am 42 years old in the process of changing my career to work in the field I have a passion for and that match my personality.

"we're so strong at affirmations but we're not strong at confessions" MAN THAT IS SO GOOD!!!! as i've been embarking on my sobriety journey (417 days and counting) i've made it a point to be strong in my confessions - or as the Good Book says, boast in my weakness. and sisters let me tell you, THE FREEDOM ON THE OTHER SIDE??!?!? chiiiile, its so sweet sha. this conversation has been beautiful. i know i haven't been in the comments section in a while but I'M HERE SISTERS AND I'M LISTENING! love always from TX. 🤎🤎

Oooffffttt at the end when you closed out and prayed... ah I just feel so soothed!! 😭🥰 I'm currently training to become a therapist and I honestly feel like conversations like this is part of my training. Therapists have to have so much of their own therapy and do so much inner work in order to be able to help those around us and when Renee talked about having days where she didn't want to deal with Renee... that's real man. Too real 😆 You model such beautiful and gentle empathy, and I LOVE listening to you gals every week. Every blessing x

Love you two so much. Currently going through a break up and WHEW this was a very timely conversation for me to hear. I'm learning how to prioritize myself because I love myself immensely. Hope you both are taking care of yourselves too! God bless. 💜

Wow, I felt this so much. I too was struggling with fear even though things seemed to be going well on the outside. This has really encouraged me to understand and acknowledge those emotions. It’s difficult to get out of that mindset but I am so thankful for God, therapy and the power of sharing your truth. ❤ thank you for talking about this!

Every episode, you guys glow more and more! And thank you so much for talking about this topic. I love that you touched on how we can actually embrace our sensitivity and learn to be vulnerable with those in our community.

For me, coming from an ethnic minority background doesn't necessarily connote poor, but that their family might have a low tolerance for a job that is not high status. You know, Black Excellence and all that. I know in my family, there's always a big push to go to college and ACHIEVE once you get out.
@Cnlg9711 ай бұрын
If I may ask, does your family just expect that from their children or do they do things to contribute that contribute toward that kinda goal?
@Erica-en2qz11 ай бұрын
@Cnlg97 Good question. My parents paid for undergrad and private school. They also let me live at home rent-free until I got married. Plus, I was encouraged and emotionally supported. It was more that achievement was expected and assumed. I was also lucky in that they didn't say I had to study a particular thing, though my grandmother had thoughts about what she thought I should study. But my parents left that choice up to me. Still, going to college and doing my best, and representing the family in a respectful way was a non-negotiable.

I'm so sad. I had been saving for this SA life podcast since late last year since I heard yall are coming to SA but I got a work opportunity in the UAE, dubai sports city to be specific and I moved here in September from SA which meant I had to use up my savings in order to relocate. I'm so sad I won't be there as I can only have enough money to go back home in July but all the best sisters. I'm sure my fellow sister's in SA will represent. Love you both so much. All the best x
