And I really don't think Will Matthew Morrison was trying to be inappropriate. I didn't see it that way. The show has almost every life scenario and I think it had lessons learned from it. I think Ryan Murphy and the crew were geniuses.Anyway I ❤ that show! .

dude I watched this show over lockdown for the first time in like a decade and it was a TRIP. few things: 1. if you thought the villain edit Lindsay got in THIS episode was bad, it gets so much worse. the only thing stopping me from saying she was robbed of a win at the end of the show is that nobody deserves to go through filming glee lmao 2. doesn't change the egregious way Alex Newell's trans character got written on the show but they have actually come out as nonbinary since then and last year became the first NB actor to win a tony!! love that for them 3. they do in fact have someone in a wheelchair in season 2, Ali Stroker who also went on to become the first wheelchair user to win a tony. If I had a nickel for every time a queer glee project alumnus who got robbed of a proper win on the show went on to become a groundbreaking tony award winner, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice

Just to mention... There is another reason to cast people this way. If you have a few thousand nobodies that have likely never accted before and certainly not on a network TV show like Glee then you can grab people that are unaware of the business of Show Business, assign them a manager that is likely more sensitive to you than to them and basically have obedient low paid wage slaves as actors rather than people that might be experienced enough to know what to ask for or demand raises.

This show made me realize that Ryan Murphy may not actually know what acting is. He seemed insistent that whichever kid won had to genuinely be the character they would portray on the show. Like, not have qualities that suit the character or inspire the character, but that they should actually BE whoever he eventually wrote into the show. It drove me up a wall back when I was watching originally. But it does explain something about several issues I have with Murphy as a writer and show runner...

Season 2 finale they got Chris Colfer so I watched that episode, and the way they picked the winner *because* he was able bodied and white passing rubbed me the wrong way (idc that he won, but they specifically didnt pick Ali because she could only play a wheelchair bound character, and they didnt pick the other girl because they didnt want to write a muslim character). They said "he can play any character we throw at him" and then cast him as...football player that can sing. Which literally every guy on the show except Blaine had done at some point.

Glee being owned by Fox is not the plot twist I was expecting. I never watched it during its heyday while I had satellite so this is all new to me. Thank you Nick for digging it up!

I went to high school with Hannah and it was a Big Deal when she got on The Glee Project. she was the Rachel Berry of our school and it was her second time being on TV. she was once on MTV's Made and the crew came to our school and she acted like she was better than everyone. EDIT: nick never said her name but she was the red headed girl in the recording booth that didn't do so well.

When I was a teenager (back in the dark ages) I swore that I would dress however I wanted when I was an adult. When I hit college I was one of the five top students in not just my school, but in their entire set of campuses across the state (this was a big deal so not only was it going to be in all of their campus newsletters but in several state papers) I arrived at the photo-op and the four other people were in their nicest "Sunday" attire. (Think Wall Street) I was in vintage bell bottoms and a custom t-shirt that said "Marriage is a human right not as heterosexual privilege" they had *no choice but to include me because I was the top GPA for my school, even better - for symmetry due to height, I was front and center. They *had* to publish my activism statement in *full color* (you bet it had pride colors behind the text) on the front page of every single one of the outlets; including the state newspapers. When I entered the workforce years later, I was constantly asked if I had just returned from a community theater project and "didn't have time to change" I always made it clear that no, it *wasn't* a costume - I dressed weird intentionally but I was technically within the corporate guidelines. I even came to work in wigs, gender swapped, period pieces, ect because I technically could, I wanted to, and I'd paid my dues for being 'weird' even when I tried to conform as a kid. No, I'm not interested in 'tips' from leadership and no I'm not answering any questions unless someone genuinely wants to know where I found my platform PVC boots or ring cuffs. Tomorrow I might look like a character from Labyrinth or Chicago. Have fun, I am! 15 years later, I'm in my 30's and don't own any "normal" clothes. Now I'm told by boomers and people more than double my age how much they like my "bravery" and wish they had or 'could' do the same - pardon? You absolutely can. Especially if you're retired. What's stopping you? TLDR: you're old enough to make your own decisions on what to do with and how to present your body, and you are too young to be locked into a lifestyle were you would have to be anything when it comes to something as piddling as clothes. Be you. I live in a very conservative area and even radiologists and ER doctors are covered in tattoos have rainbow hair and faces full of piercings. There is no age limit on any article of clothing. Anyone who says otherwise it's just projecting their own hangups and lives in an alternate reality. The next time someone tries to feed you that bs about dressing like a grown up express your pity for them that they have not outgrown the Middle School mentality of trying to police other people to have something to talk about at the lunch break. *You* keep being you unapologetically and awesome. Never compromise your comfort for that of someone else's preferences.

I am way down in the comments and damn I'm glad I made it here. I know you need no recognition because you are clearly securely fastened into a life that is just how you’ve imagined it into being, but it is extremely inspiring and uh ya just wanted to say ur killing it and this is very cool to read and I think I’m probably just going to print this out and put on my fridge. Or maybe it’s a tattoo situation. Or maybe I’ll be cheesy and put it on my mirror. Whatever it is I’ll feel damn good about it. Thanks and have an awesome day 🏳️🌈💅🫡

One of the other Glee writers, Ian Brennan, went to high school at the same time and in the same district as my dad. Mount Prospect, IL. My dad remembers that the show choir director at Mount Prospect High was arrested for inappropriate relations with students. Oop.

Maybe he pitched how in the first episode the original glee director gets fired for that.
