Students from The Glenn Gould School were invited to perform Walter Kaufmann’s String Quartet No. 8 on November 10, 2024, during a concert by the ARC Ensemble (Artists of The Royal Conservatory). Kaufmann composed this work in India in 1936 while on a research trip to Kashmir. It is highly likely that this performance was also its premiere - the work only survived in score form and was clearly written in haste - none of the four movements has a title.
David Baik, violin (2024-25 Rebanks Fellow)
Anna Stube, violin (BMus '27)
Grace Lau, viola (BMus '26)
Mira Kardan, cello (BMus '28)
