I’m not as knowledgeable of Melee’s competitive scene, but I’m surprised Abate’s Luigi, Bizzaro Flame’s Ganon or Plup’s Samus aren’t talked about at all. Especially Plup’s Samus.

Abate is definitely a very valid alternative pick for Luigi - the character's a bit of a weird one to go by rankings/placement for, but Eddy is a good rep for it. Bizz's ganon is extremely iconic, but he wasn't even close to the best or even longest performing at a high level. Plup for Samus is a question of longevity and dedication -- he did win against stronger opponents with it, but he played for far shorter than Hugs, who has been a top-level player for almost the entire competitive history of the game. It's a bit like the Armada-Mang0 debate, though I personally think Hugo is more compelling of a pick

As someone who does follow the scene incredibly closely, Eddy is def the better Luigi, as he still has results in a much harder era. Kage is for sure the Ganon GOAT, I don’t think Biz is even close tbh. Kage was a top 30 player, regularly placed top 30-50 whereas Bizz was barely cracking the top 100. In terms of results there’s really no question. I think Plup is definitely a good pick for Samus but I don’t think Hugs is a strange pick either. Might just be a thing where you don’t wanna give Plup multiple characters if you can avoid it

I really liked how this video turned out! I'm a little curious over your reasoning for Plup over M2K as the GOAT Sheik though? Plup's spent 4 years as the best primary Sheik main as well as a further 3 years in the top 10, while M2K also spent 4 years as the best primary Sheik main (2011-2013, 2015) as well as also being the best Sheik from 2008-2010, 2014, and 2016-2017? In addition, Plup has never won a major going solo Sheik either, just like M2K at all his major wins. Aside from that though, this is a really cleanly edited video, would love to see more like this. EDIT: I'd also have Mang0 as Fox, being as he's the only player to be #1 in the world playing mostly Fox.

Lists like these are tricky. Here's some aspects which make them tricky: 1) are we talking the best skill wise, or the best legacy wise? (franz is almost definitely way better at doc than shroomed) 2) are we talking seen at the highest level, or the highest skill (hbox's ness was seen at the highest level, but isn't the best ness) 3) If we're talking just raw skill, a lot of the lower tier characters would just be a top players tertiary character, which isn't very fun For this I'm just going with raw skill, not weighted by time period. Top player tertiaries are rarely counted. i think abate and eddy mexcio are extremely debatable, though i'd argue abate over eddy as well since abate's peak with the character is moderately better (i don't think eddy has ever gotten a top 8 in a supermajor). as for marth, zain undoubtedly. m2k was still the goat marth even after 2020 but ever since zain won genesis and pound this year, it's not even a question anymore. besides, m2k didn't solo main marth the same way zain did, and i guess the only strong argument m2k has over zain is the fact that he has played the character and has been successful for longer but even then, zain should completely surpass m2k on the argument of GOAT marth if he keeps playing the way he has been for another year or two.

@@latheredtrillionaire5701 There are multiple tournaments on here where I know at the LEAST Mang0 only used Fox for top 8. EVO 2013 EVO 2014 KoC 4 MLG Etc.
