I truly wish I had been a over the road trucker. My Dad and three of his brothers drove car haulers taking Studebakers from South Bend, In. to the Terminal near Atlanta, GA. for about 10 years mid 50s till the end of Studebaker in mid 60s Then he drove a old Reo hauling scrap till the early 70s. All those semi trucks looked like Monsters, but that is what a Strong America needed to move our vital goods. I just didn't have the opportunity to be a driver. I retired disabled from factory life 6 years ago. And now need to go back to work to pay for my house groceries, utilities, gas and diesel for my truck. God help our country because the mortals that are supposed to be fixing our problems are making more problems.

Outstanding! My dad, God rest his soul, turned from our town in Northeast Wisconsin.to Chicago every night in a White 3000, over 2 lane roads. He loved it, and I followed in his footprints, for 42 years, OTR, but not in a White 3000. Thanks for the memories!!

Beautiful! I grew up in the 60's watching those trucks going up the interstate every day. It took true skill to drive those safely.

It takes skill today as well; but it appears that way too many so called “Drivers” these days haven’t got enough common sense to look past their hood ornaments and think ahead.

FFE rigs were Black & White in the bullnose KW era. Saw them everyday as the FFE office was near my house.

It was good to see these old trucks. I remember most of them. I've always liked the IH Highbinders and GMC Cannonballs. It's also good to see how the professional drivers dressed. There was no shorts and flip-flops, drivers in those days took pride in their jobs.

2:32 Extremely rare model 360 Peterbilt cabover (high, square nose), predecessor to the bubblenose 350 that followed the next year. Only two of them were built, both for King and this is only the second pic I've ever seen of them. Awesome photo!!

My first truck was an 1968 IHC Emeryville w/ 238 Detroit screamer with a 10 speed. At night pulling long hill there would be flame out of the stack. Late 60s 70 and 80s were the best time out on the road. No cell phones. No cab cameras,no GPS. shippers & Receivers were great but not as bad as they are today. I spent 50+ year following the lines. It was like a brotherhood everyone had each others back. Of course there were assholes but nothing like today. You could pull out of Nickel City headed east and within 10 minutes know everything that was going on back to the Mass Pike. ( just an example) was like that all over the country. Im not busting on todays drivers as they have a lot of corporate BS to put with but to most of them its a job no more no less. To us old guys it was more of a life style. I mostly pulled flat beds ,low beds oversize over weight until the day i retired. I retire at age 70 in July of 2021.. I loved what I did and with doing multiple axle set up(8or more) i got to places a lot of drivers didn't go. Kept life interesting to say the least. Keep on Trucking be safe and respect one another.

Glory days are gone and it's sad 😔 now we have plastic trucks , computers telling us when we can drive , dumb democrats and school shootings !! But hey , cool video

Back when drivers took pride in their personal appearance. You see some disgusting sights in truck stops today.
