You may be too far gone but don't drag everyone else with you, accusing us of being sinners to unsettle us. People who come to this vid are driven by doubt, they search for knowledge because they don't want to say they believe the Bible without good reason. When so many things in it unarguably don't make sense logically and factually, having been constantly revised and changed time after time throughout history, people have the right to know the resulting contradictions and decide for themselves if they want to believe this text as the word of God or not. Let's not judge or attack anyone. Enlightenment is achieved through facts, not poetry.

“Scholars will still be thinking about that little chestnut thousands of years from now” is such a great and fitting line to describe a lot of the scholarly research surrounding the biblical texts. Almost every verse or passage in the Bible is prone to different variant translations/versions, different interpretations, and vague details that it’s really impossible to know what the “original texts” said or intended to say. A lot of it’s lost to us now and we really can’t do anything about it. It’s crazy to look beyond the surface level of the modern copies. In any case awesome work! Hope you make more of these types of vids ;)

Hey its you, the guy who makes videos about bible story. I've watched both of them, good videos.
@abrahamjenkins16554 жыл бұрын
Actually it's not. There is this field of research call "textual criticism", and in it they deal with many ancient manuscripts. Specifically for the New Testament there are dozens of manuscripts and papyri within 100 years of the death of Christ, let alone from the time that they were written, not even mentioning quotations of the scriptures in the writing of church fathers, many of those being from the early 2nd century
@abrahamjenkins16554 жыл бұрын
If you want to study this more in depth, might I recommend getting the Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft copy of the Greek New Testament, and make sure that it is the one with the apparatus and not the reader. In it there is every variation of the text on the bottom. If you wish to truly utilize this, it might help to take some rudimentary Koine Greek

Jayknight Just read the Bible, and Don’t only listen to the selected passages they preach at church. The stories are just terrible. For ex: Moses comes down from the mountain to find his followers worshiping a golden calf. So god had all 3000 of them murdered on the spot. Jepethe (probably misspelled) sacrifices his daughter to god. God murdered Job’s family for no reason. Killed all the first born of Egypt. Because the pharaoh was exercising free will. God is crazy. He even had bears attack a group of young men simply for teasing a bald man. I think it’s horrible, and I would never worship him. Even if it was proven beyond a reasonable doubt he was real. Not to mention the pure ridiculousness of the stories. Methuselah lived to 969 years old. I find that very hard to believe and have never seen any evidence of any humans living even past the age of 125, and that story is the tip of the iceberg. Jonah lived inside a giant fish for days before being spit up onto the beach and walking away unharmed. 🤦♂️

I guess i just got a little tripped up because people dont usually use words like deconversion. I think thats because deconversion cannot occur without conversion and people usually refer to what they have been converted to and not what they deconverted from. Im just not used to people talking that way. Seems more normal to say "i converted to atheism". I just hope OP realizes that a conversation did take place when they became an atheist.
@parityviolation9685 жыл бұрын
@@aaronheaton2606 I thought you were coming from different angle before. Mainly, because you have to start with the premise we are all born atheists, but then converted to whatever dominant religion of closest geographical proximity. However, that's actually a quite reasonable premise, even though there might be a case made for religious inclination being a result of the way evolution shaped our biological nature: Seeking Agency everywhere may generate false positives, but they are less deadly than false negatives. If primitive instincts are responsible for our tendency to presume agency, then Atheism might not be what we're instinctively endowed with, but only what we have to -overcome- get to through logic and reasoning once we're old enough. In that case, Deconversion would actually make less sense. However, I like the term, nevertheless.

NSC does something here many atheist KZbinrs can't manage: this is a video ridiculing the bible that never attacks Christianity itself once. NSC has made itnclear how he feels about Christianity, but this is a video about the accuracy of the bible, not its contents, and he stays on that subject. It's a lot easier to win people over with logic by starting small and moving slowly, and by not attacking or dismissing their core beliefs without sufficient legwork. Big props on a great video, pointing out historical facts and absurdities without attacking anyone personally.

I mean it was written thousands of years ago when people didn't know anything about how the world works. And to still think that it is relevant in today's society still blows me away. Come on, that whole ‘once saved, always saved’ is completely meaningless, and exists only in the minds of believers so they can feel better about the imaginary eternal destiny of the souls of their loved ones, who no longer believe the ridiculous myths and fables that were shoved down their throat by parents for years and years.
@thebaconized47336 жыл бұрын
pinkah boo Telling any child to believe in primitive nonsense, like burning in hell for eternity, is always going to be a mild form of child abuse. Indoctrination such as this forces children to fight their way back to evidence based reality while growing back up, rather than choosing to be religious once their minds can truly comprehend the implications of those beliefs. It distracts people from learning about more important things in their formative years. You act as though my religious upbringing was some sort of exception: nope, just your average middle class Christian raised by decent parents who meant well, but who were ultimately immature baby boomers who are now religious skeptics today, thankfully. However, I was definitely a Christian. Baptized at eight and ‘saved’ at 12. If you became a skeptic, how would you view your prior Christian beliefs? You would probably cringe if other Christians told you were either never really saved to begin with, or still are. There’s a difference between truly believing, and the beliefs being true. It’s usually just Christians who adhere to such illogical false dichotomies. You should watch more NSC videos. Lots to learn. You’re not going to convince many people the way you’re going. There’s a wide world out there full of science and knowledge, and don’t you find it suspicious that Christianity doesn’t want you to be worldly? Don’t you find it odd that Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, the forbidden fruit? Religion holds people back, and it’s wrong to push that mode of thinking on to children. For most people, the path of reason logically leads to naturalism, so safe journeys.

@@mattpowell6291 Oop, a 'no true Scotsman' fallacy out here in the wild. For the record, this video is pretty accurate. Scholarly consensus agrees that Mark was the first gospel to be written and you'd notice that as the Gospels progress, blame over Jesus's death keeps being shifted from the Romans to the Jews. This was one of the causes for the great antisemitism in the early church. I could recommend you a book that delves well into this topic (among other Biblical stuff) but I doubt you'd want to read it. Also, they said one of the videos was one of the straws that led to them deconstructing so... it's not just one video and one thing. Your point is kinda moot.

@@monochromicornthetuna4256 To the contrary. I still learn a lot about the bible everyday. Not interested in being ignorant. The Gospels of Mark and Luke were written by individuals who heard the stories from others. They were not eyewitnesses so that has to be kept in mind when reading these Gospels. I'm sure that Mark was written first and then Luke. My point was that there are some things that scholars couldn't 100% know unless they went back in time to ask Luke like "did he deliberately leave out details to appease an audience?" Jesus was a metaphor for Israel and since Mark was written after the crushing Roman defeat of Judea, (crucifixion), the Jewish nation would survive and rise again from the death. The Sanhedrin rejected the story and never incorporated it, but it was very popular amongst the Hellenized jews and the Greeks. All of the Gospel writers were Greek speakers. The idea is to bring people to faith, and a personal relationship with God, in the person of Jesus Christ. If you can be swayed by this mockery, you must not have been quite serious about finding the real truth about God's love. Did you never hear the prayer, "Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief." Or even, "Jesus, I open my heart and invite you in. Come and share your love with me." If you are really sincere, either of those will work, to bring you face to face with God. Learning the actual structure of the Gospels was part of what really helped me leave Christianity. As a Christian i never actually had any church leader explain their real chronology, nor that they actually say different things at different times. I remember being confused all the time during holidays when the preacher would read a beginning of a story from Luke, then read the rest of the story from John. Once i started questioning my religion and i realized there were certain things that were ignored or hid from me by the church leaders, it made me realize _why_ they did not talk about these things. Because there are glaring problems with the Bible that they don't want to address or have young church members think about.

I don't believe in anything, mostly because I was never brainwashed into a god cult to use theistic terminology in life.* No, you were Brainwashed into the Religion of Atheism, and you use the terminology of the Atheist Community. Seriously, look at how your Co-Religionists in the Atheist Community talk. Your words are indistinguishable from theirs. You use the same insults, the same snide arrogance, the same condescension, and the same arguments. All you've done is made a Rekligion out of rejecting Christianity. And its a Religion that is exactly like what you condemn. Its based on Blind Faith and Dogmas you aren't allowed to question. *Do you want to learn why us evolved primates only have one life to live?* I want to discuss the Gospel Of Luke and its origins. *If not, Go listen to Ken Ham's bullshit* Of course I am a Creationist, which automatically means I am a Young Earth Creationist who listens to Ken Ham. Aron Ra was really right about how Atheists have a Higher standard of Evidence than Believers do and that's why they become Atheists. Because Atheists never assume what others believe. *while the sane world tries to fix what the god delusion has ruined,* So, repeating the phrase "God delusion" is supposed to make me feel what exactly? You're still just a preprogrammwed bot repeating what your told. Also, the whole idea that believing in a god ruined the World and brought about suffering and nothing god is idiotic, as is pretending a World of only Atheists would be peaceful. But we;ve seen what Atheists Governments can be like. And they were so bad todays Atheists deny they were really Atheists. But they were. The Communist Nations all embraced State Atheism. And if your retort is that not all Atheists are Communists, well so what? That still didn't stop the Atheists in Communist Countries from killing. In fact, even if the claim that no one ever killed in the name of Atheism is True, and the Communists killed in the name of Communism,not Atheism, they still killed. And killed many. Their Atheism didn't make them not kill. Not that it matters, as Communists actually did Kill in the name of Atheism. And so did Mexican Revolutionaries. And so did the cult Of Reason in France. And so did Devon Kelley. Al you do is make excuses to keep a moronic claim alivve that Atheists are somehow more peaceful. And no, I already know about the Prison statistic that has been quoted for 22 Years now, and its not really True. The whole 0.2% Inmate rubbish isn't an accurate reflection of Reality. And the Zuckerman and Paul study that found Religious countries have Higher Crime Rates than Secular ones, and Religious States have Higher Crime Rates than Secular ones in the US, is also a Lie. Especially since they omited Atheist Majority nations that would scew the results against them, and did jnot compare the nations in Europe with eachother. And even in the US, Crime is lower in deeply Religious Counties in any given state as a general rule, and there is Higher Crime in Less Religious Counties. So don't pull that rubbish. *he has a lie for every fact that proves how stupid the bible is.* If I am lying, then prove my actual points wrong.

The reason for that is because the authors were Star Trek fans. Legend has it that the gospels were originally titled "Kirk", "Picard", "Sisko" and "Janeway" with "Archer" as the so-called lost gospel.

Perhaps in the year 3019 the Jedi order will have been subsumed into the gospel (under the Second gospel of Luke) just as earlier Sumerian works were subsumed into current scripture. The Jedi will be pictured as a brave order of disciples who tried spreading the Lord's word around the anointed gentile church of Rome, only for Satan to try to curb the movement using a corrupt Roman senator Sidius, who had slain his mentor Plagius, to become the most powerful voice in the Roman senate and ultimately Emperor of Rome - Plagius Caesar. God, upon seeing the oppression of his people, will be reborn anew via her holy blessed virgin Smee to revitalise the church. He is verified as the the lord returned via awe inspiring miracles, such as raising up of a shipwrecked vessel from the Red Sea, and topping his walk-on-water routine, by walking in the sky - hence his followers dubbing him Sky-Walker. His message will cut through the world like a saber of light using the power of the Holy Spirit, also known as the force.

@@stevepaige7557 all of them. The timing of your comment is odd, in the three years since I wrote this comment, I have completely changed directions. I was just talking with a psychologist friend today about spirituality and individualism and how I believe that God is real in the sense that it is a real, hidden part of our psyche that is unique to us all, and spirituality is just a methodology for attempting to incorporate the Form into our conscious selves. And religion is just an attempt (a successful one in many cases) to harness that reach toward perfection in order to unify people under a banner. In other words, organized religion prevents us from individuating and becoming our complete selves. I'm sure that the creators of new religions have good intentions, they fixed themselves and wanted to share that process with everyone, but the process they try to teach is not accepting of the uniqueness of our personal "God". I like to call my new direction "naturalist spirituality" (just found out talking to my friend there's already a similar thing called "spiritual naturalism") in that it recognizes the existence of God in terms that fit into a naturalist view of the universe. A Jungian view of you will.

If you arrange the gospels in order of written, the first one Jesus is pretty mundane, the second he had some tricks up his sleeve, the third he had some magical powers, and the last he was practically a demi-god. If you arrange the writings on Hercules' stories in order of written you'll also notice in the first ones he was just a buff dude, later he had some magical powers, and the last of the writings he was a demi-god.

De Conversion is a fake term. You converted. Convert means change. Atheists don't need to pretend everything in Atheism is the opposite of Religion. Also, how can Atheists praise other Atheists for helpline Free them from Christianity then argue Atheists don't Proslytise? Im sure youll make an excuse but tis obvious this is just him spreading the Religion of Atheism by ridiculing Christianity, and equally obvious you didn't really study Christianity. I;m not saying that because I Think no one can become an Atheist who knows the facts, but because non Stamp Collector, DarkMatter, and The Atheist Experience are really bad sources fr informaton. They are agenda driven, selective, and getbssic facts wrong. This Video for example can't even get Right the fact that Pilate had a Reason to have Jesus flogged. It calls him a Sadist. Don't you Think just reading the Gospel Of Mark reveals he did have a Reason? To appear an angry mob and prevent a Riot? That's not the only error in his VIdeo either. o really, its not intelligent o give up Christianity in favour of unthinking and mindkless Anti-Christianity.

@@skwills1629 I see where you're coming at so let me rephrase it this way, NonStampCollector , DarkMatter and the Atheist Experience made me use logic and reason to reach conclusions instead of blind faith because let's be honest, blind faith is not a reliable method to find the truth, otherwise we wouldn't have 10,000 religions and each one contradicting each other and to make matters worse we even have christianity branches that contradict themselves as well so even christians can't get it right so this gives me plenty of reasons to throw that "blind faith" crap out of the window. BTW, I was a Mormon, I used to believe in all the claims about Joseph Smith seeing god and talking to god and jesus, him receiving the golden plates from god, the angel moroni retrieving the golden plates afterwards (and hence, not having evidence of that either, how convenient...), once we die if we manage to reach the celestial kingdom then we would be gods, etc... I bet all those crap contradict your christianity teachings and yet you don't believe in it, why don't you use your good ol' faith to believe in all the mormon crap I just said? I already know the answer, you will say that Joseph Smith was a conman that tricked people, why don't you tell that to the other millions of mormons that believe in it? I bet they will tell you that YOU are the one who got tricked and that you don't have the "correct" religion. See, because of crap like that I rather use logic and reason to reach conclusions instead of blind faith, if a religion claim something then they better have evidence to back it up and unfortunately religion does not have the evidence I'm looking for, a good loving god would know this and would have provided people like us with evidence and the reason he isn't able to do it makes me question him even more.
