I wish you had done the documentary by Keyan Carlile about the Cipher Hunt, but with it being 4 hours long it makes sense that you went with this one instead, which is also a good choice. It's definitely worth watching on your own time though! It's the most comprehensive and well-told retelling of the Cipher Hunt and had Alex Hirsch himself bring in commentary.

Yeah I considered it! But 4 hours is a very long time especially for a reaction video, plus I wanted to make sure I was definitely not going to get any book spoilers. If people still want me to watch it when I eventually catch up on everything then I'd love to do a video later on!

@@OzoneYT I highly encourage it when you do catch up! Jorge’s video is really well-done too and I really enjoy seeing your reaction to it. But I think you’d still learn a lot from Keyan’s documentary as well, since he focuses a lot on the human aspect of it, contacting many of the original participants. (Also there are very few book spoilers. There’s a tiny snippet of them reading the Time Pirates Treasure choose-your-own-adventure book at a clue site, and minor spoilers regarding the book secrets within 15 minutes from the end of the video.)

Fun fact! The Bill Cipher puzzle remains incomplete because a couple of the pieces went missing! Which is kind of fitting in a symbolic way. Alex himself met the fans who finished the puzzle and filled in the missing parts with a yellow marker

Before you do Book of Bill. Take a look at Dipper and Mabel and the curse of the pirate treasure (Choose your own adventure book) and Lost Legends the graphic novel. They have secret codes and other hints that I think you would love to find your self.

Oh man this takes me back. I remember basically not sleeping the entire time because people would usually look for clues/update at night for me bc of the time zone. Trying to figure out the clues that I do have access to while constantly refreshing twitter to look for any updates or ideas from fellow hunters was such an experience, it really felt like everyone was working together. It's like we have men on the ground and we have the "guy(s) in the chair"

i think the 4 hr documentary on the cipher hunt does have some spoilers at least for journal 3 and very little on the book of bill its been a while since I saw it but i think the spoilers are very small amounts to the books. but see your reaction to it since it mostly goes into the human aspect and focuses on the journey for each clue would be neat to see. if anything you could probably get away with reading at minimum journal 3 and jumping in. but if you want to be sure nothing will be spoiled might be best to cover your bases with book of bill and then jumping in.

I remember wanting some clues to be in latin america soooo baaaad. I was like nuuuu when it became apparent the international travels had finished and it was time for it to be US-only. But still, it was absolutely impressive. I remember my friend excitedly telling me about a new clue or whatever, showing me this one app where they streamed everything on their phones. Augh.

That Stan head is a failed 3D print (of a prototype for a canceled piece of merchandise) that Alex quickly spray painted gold Also his name is Barack Obama, but there used to be a meme that his name is Obama Obama and I love that it stuck 🤣

God I wish I got into the show way back when it was airing and witness the cipher hunt, but I think discovering it more recently (I got into it in 2021 when I had covid and was quarantined) made it a unique experience in it’s own way and it is still one of my top favorite shows of all times it holds a special place in my heart

Half of the message *was* the key; Alex was gonna reveal it later on, but fans managed to crack it before he could. While of course Keyan Carlile has his recent coverage, the Mystery Shack Lookback (no spoiler) podcast from summer 2022 should be safe as it guest starred Alex (and Jason for the 2nd time) where he spoke on his experience and someone finding the treasure early 😮. Given you're in 2016 territory with the Cipher Hunt, the other releases that year were the irl Journal 3, and the Time Pirates book with "one canon secret". As for 2017, most I got is a Journal 3 infomercial by Kristen and Jason, a video trio of Soos' ideas of the Stan's whereabouts post finale, and a coloring book (now back in print) that linked a Soos podcast. 2018 'll have some big stuff...

The fact that Alex set up this whole hunt by himself without any help or even more importantly permission from Disney themselves and in fact during the amazing Cipher Hunt documentary by Keyan Carlile Alex said that after recording the footage of the real life Bill Cipher statute he simply asked one of the Disney TV staff members to just add the image at the end of the credits and didn’t give him any context about it

After watching the hours long video from Keyan Carlile, I'm here like "there's an information missing/that was a bit different in fact" 😅. For example, the fans just brute forced the beginning before the team could post more, so they just didn't - since the first part was already solved anyway. 😅 This is a good summarizing video as well, but I also think you should watch the longer description later, if only for yourself. :) It's actually wild. I was sitting with open mouth with how unhinged it all actually was. 😅

You as a Gravity Falls fan + Theorist, I highly recommend playing the game Enigma of Fear It has Gravity Falls written all over it It is full of mystery, puzzles and food for theories Also, as you seem to like to take your own notes, I think you will like this. I haven't seen in any other game: The game has 2 modes. A Normal Mode and a Detective Mode. The Detective Mode have no map and no access to previous documents so you have to take your own notes and take your own pictures (like screenshots or with a phone) Also it is beautiful I honestly think you will have a blast Even if you don't plan to make a video out of it, just check it out

Once you've read the books you should totally look into the Same Coin Theory. It's the sort of theory that I don't think should ever be confirmed true because its a bit too out there/polarising, but its very interesting & has a surprising amount of evidence/coincidences going for it. I absolutely hated the concept of it when I first heard of it lol, took me on a wild ride of emotions while reading the original Tumblr post about it, and ended with me actually quite liking it as a headcanon because of how many extra parallels & bits of cyclical storytelling it adds to the plot (which are things I absolutely love in stories).
