Vic, back in the sixties there was a late night talk show on ABC hosted by Les Crane. It was opposite Johnny Carson, being a night owl then I watched it regularly. On one of the episodes, both Bill and Groucho appeared. After all these years, I can still remember how when Mr. Marx came out, Mr. Cosby began doing Groucho's famous walk and they started circling and watching each other bent over smoking cigars. It's a classic moment. The love and respect was so obvious between the two men. It's too bad ABC didn't preserve any of Mr. Crane's shows.
@altonpitts65503 жыл бұрын
@Roy Hernandez Yes indeed, sir. As I recall, Mr. Crane would invite notable figures from the entertainment industry, and personalities of both sides of the political spectrum. He provided a public forum for people such as Malcolm X, George Wallace, Rev. Dr. M. L. King, Muhammad Ali, Bob Dylan, etc.to be seen discussing the issues of the day. I loved Johnny Carson, but I would check out who would be on Les' show each night and bypass Mr. Carson if I thought it would be interesting. I recall that during the school year, I had trouble staying awake in class. But I was the most informed student when it came to current events discussions. LOL👍🏿

Oh no. Some of Groucho's friends admitted that he fucking hated Cosby, though nobody was ever really sure why, though some think it had to do with money. Groucho had always really said what he felt in every situation, since his on screen persona and off screen behavior were alike, with a lot of his characters and he sharing sexist beliefs, constantly starting shit with authority figures (Louis B. Mayer, for example), and pretty much saying whatever he wanted and usually being serious at that, but since he was considered a beloved comedy icon they gave him a pass..... kind of like Cosby in that regard. The only difference is that Groucho had several failed marriages, lost his shirt in the stock market crash, and just had a jaded view of people in general due to being an introvert in a family of extroverts, meanwhile Cosby was just a scumbag rapist who's gonna rot in jail.

Somebody of Cosby's comedic stature invites Groucho on his show, he KNOWS what to expect. I believe Groucho DID go after him, but in the way you'd expect Groucho to. Yes, he was in character, but he also did tear Bill a new one. He just did it nice. There are a hundred comics who would do the same thing. Also, Groucho wasn't coming on to plug anything, he had no reason to be nice to the host, and his stage persona was built on being quick with the comeback. At 82, beginning to lose it, he still had it. It was exactly what he should have expected. Steve Stoliar might be able to speak to the dynamic between Groucho and Bill. From the look of it, Groucho was the senior man telling the kid he (the kid) had a ways to go. :)

Man. Cosby at a 'peak'. And NOW. The trial resumes on Monday. What a epic fall..😳
@terrytaylor28253 жыл бұрын
'In the case of Bill Cosby, unproven accusations evolved into lynch mobs, who publicly and privately coerced cancellations of Bill Cosby’s scheduled performances; syndications of “The Cosby Show”; rescissions of honorary degrees and a vindictive attempt to close an exhibition of our collection of African American art in the Smithsonian Museum of African Art. Although the Smithsonian’s hierarchy did not capitulate, a disclaimer was posted on the exterior of that Museum. And all of that occurred before the trial even started.' Camille Cosby, Bill Cosby's wife since 1964... I think she might know him well. Bill Cosby was a pioneering black American comedian, actor, and TV star who one day: On 17 May 2004, at an NAACP event commemorating the 50th anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education, the landmark Supreme Court decision that struck down school segregation, entertainer Bill Cosby gave a speech on the theme of blacks in America taking responsibility for their own lives. In his exposition to that assembly, the man known to television viewing audiences as lovable, kindly, yet permanently bemused patriarch Dr. Huxtable spoke about his perception of the ills affecting black American society. He cited elevated school dropout rates for inner-city black students and criticized low-income blacks for not using the opportunities the civil rights movement has won for them. Blacks, by their unplanned pregnancies, poor parenting, lack of education, non-standard English, counter-culture dress, and involvement in crime, fail the black community as well as themselves, he said. March 8, 2005: (After the forces that couldn't have a black man speaking 'that way'... had time to marshal their payoffs and legal allies...) Andrea Constand, the former director of operations for the Temple University women’s basketball team, files a lawsuit against Cosby, (Bill Cosby’s defense team introduced the testimony of a witness who confirmed that the district attorney’s witness admitted that she had not been sexually assaulted, but that she could say she was and get money … which is exactly what she did. CC) Many other 2nd and 3rd tier members of the Hollywood 'work force' chimed in with their accusations, all coincidently members of the Democrat Party, in good standing. None of the accusations had any physical evidence or corroborating witnesses, just their accusations and the bullhorn of the media and Democrat Hollywood media... and total leverage over a man whose entire life and reputation they knew would be ruined forever just on the weight of the accusations. So he settled some things out of court to prevent that. Sure enough, although it took over a decade, they convinced a jury (without the benefit of ANY corroborating witnesses or physical evidence, or even schedule correlations) that, since 'everyone already knew he was guilty', they did too. Welcome to another pioneering achievement of Bill Cosby: The first accomplished black man in US history to be a victim of Leftist 'cancel culture'!

@@nathanielhellerstein5871 For starters, 95% of the above is transcribed from official verified sources, the rest my observations. All factual, and you could put the effort in to verify... but you won't. A little history lesson concerning the 'Democratic Party' (Their website is called 'democrats-dot-org', btw): Democrats: Trail of Tears, Slavery, Civil War, Triple-Kay, Lynching, Jim Crow, Segregation, Eugenics, Income Tax (slavery), more lynching, US (Japanese) citizens in Concentration Camps for years, Alger Hiss and the UN, abandoned Bay of Pigs fighters, abandoned S Vietnamese, abandoned Iran-hostages, defiled the White House, repealed Glass-Steagall Act (Great Recession), doubled the federal debt in 8 years to produce ‘worst recovery since WWII’, spied on and perpetrated a coup against the duly elected President, then dumped a $Billions or more of donor money to ‘buy/steal’ 2 elections. And many more, historically. Any person or politician that joins the Democratic Party, runs and ‘serves’ as one is obviously complicit and ‘down with’ their history and criminal tactics, and has to know that: that party is and has been the longest and worst enemy of the United States Constitutional Republic since slave-owner Andrew Jackson founded it. Leftists constantly act like they have the moral high ground while behaving like Stalin with a 'Happy Face' mask!

I hope there's someone my age or younger who loves and appreciates the Marx Brothers. Born in 1985.
@sejrec563 жыл бұрын
I always loved Groucho and the Marx Bros. First time I ever remember seeing a Marx Bros movie was when I was maybe 12 yrs old and was baby sitting for a neighbors kid. I had the TV on , and only thing on with the 3-4 stations that could be picked up with an antenna was a station that played old b&w movies. This night they played Marx Bros and WC Fields. My introduction to both. I’m pretty sure the Marx Bros movie was Night at the Opera, which as a kid I found hilarious. Although half of Grouchos jokes went over my 12 yr old head, I still got many of his jokes. I loved Harpo, and was very intrigued watching Chico and Harpo play piano together. Then Harpo played an actual Harp. I grew up into a musical family and was really amazed at all the talent these 3 had. I’ve been a fan ever since. I also became a fan of WC Fields too at 12 yrs old. I was amazed how something that old could be so funny. Possibly same night on TV was Abbot and Costello first time I heard “Who’s on first” my young introduction to some of the greatest comedians of all time. I’m now 65 and still love those comedians or their bits like “who’s on first”

@JewandGreek7 жыл бұрын
Actually when the Bible refers to "the Jews" killing Jesus, it's referring to the Jewish leaders. It's not referring to the Jewish race. After all, Jesus and the apostles were all Jewish. The multitudes who followed Him were Jewish. It wasn't until many years after the Resurrection that there were any Gentile believers in Jesus. To blame the Jewish people for what the Jewish leaders did makes no more sense than blaming the Russians for what Stalin did or the Cambodian people for the acts of Pol Pot. Nor does it make any sense to blame the Romans. Jesus' death and resurrection were part of God's plan of redemption from the time the world began. We're all guilty in God's eyes, but we can all receive the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus and His substitutionary work.

Maybe people just don't care about actor's personal lives as much as a few years ago. we should all mind our own businesses and stop caring about the personal lives of famous people.
