Thanks for taking us around the show. I live in Pennsylvania and have gone to many shows in our area but not in upstate New York. It is nice to see you have a large train show with those big display layouts from various train clubs. You also were able to buy some items for your own layout.

There are a few big shows in Upstate NY, like the Hamburg Show (south of Buffalo), RIT show in Rochester, but Syracuse is the biggest. Batavia, NY has a great show twice a year! I always find a lot I would like, but this year I’ve been trying to be more selective!😄

Thanks for exhaustive view of the show in Syracuse. Probably won’t make it but it’s nice to know it’s there.

@@coconutandrus4944 I try to cram as much as I can into a video, yet make it as short as possible. I find people tend not to like videos that are over 30 minutes. I was exhausted the next day after being at the show both days! 😄

I was there as a purveyor. My fourth? year. This show has a special magic for me. I can't quite explain it. Perhaps its the environs of western New York. Perhaps its the former NYC mainline nextdoor. Maybe its the outdoor equipment displays. Perhaps its the variety of layouts on display. Perhaps its seeing new (for me) vendors. Perhaps its the way everyone stands for the national anthem before the show opens. Perhaps its the folks who put the show on (they do a great job). Perhaps its the fun of talking with fellow modelers, and just general folks, at the show. I dunno. But if you put all the above into one show, its really worth my trek to get there every year. I really look forward to it! Thank you for your coverage of western NY train shows! Hopefully I'll have a layout there next year...

@@trainencounters586 It is a very special show with all it has to offer. I wish big manufactures would come to it. It will be cool if you have a layout next year!

"For my N scale buddies" ...you have a lot of those? haha What an incredible show! I really wanted to get up there, but it just didn't work with the rest of everything I needed to do over the weekend. Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again (and again), but the Free-Mo guys (in either HO or N) know how to build great layouts! Those tend to be my favorites. Just love the way they sprawl. Also also, was Nestle in Ithaca? Interesting to see the "return to Ithaca, NY" on their boxcar. Thanks so much for sharing!
@MyLifesTracks23 күн бұрын
Yes my N scale buddies, that’s two of you!😄 Free-Mo is very cool. At this show it’s point to point to point type of set up! You have to come next year, it will be the 50th year! I know Nestle had a factory in Fulton, NY. Not sure when they were in Ithaca. I did a quick Google search and didn’t find anything about Nestle in Ithaca.

Watching your 2024 Syracuse train show. Towards the end your at home showing what you purchased. The Nestles 50’ box car from Athearn Genesis. There is a reporting mark stating When empty return to Ithaca NY. Did they misspell “Ithaca”?
@MyLifesTracks16 күн бұрын
I looked under magnification and yes indeed it’s misspelled. It has ITHICA.
@MarkLongo-n1b16 күн бұрын
I was going to purchase this box car until this and one other issue, I’m from Ithaca originally and have family still living there and I wasn’t aware of a “Nestles” plant in Ithaca.
@tvtoms22 күн бұрын
Fulton, NY was indeed the birthplace of Nestle.
@MyLifesTracks22 күн бұрын
@@tvtoms I believe I have a Nestle railcar that says return to Fulton. Do you know if Nestle had a factory or warehouse in Ithaca?
@tvtoms22 күн бұрын
@@MyLifesTracks I don't know that but I suspect most of the Nestle early rail stuff was just dairy and milk related as it was the reason NY state was chosen for the first factory. Could be products depending on the date the box car was made I guess. The Nestle website has a pretty cool history to flip through.

Wow they had some nice stuff running! I know you've been going to train shows for a while now. Would you say the displays and layouts have gotten better? And again, thanks taking me to a train show! 👍
@MyLifesTracks23 күн бұрын
It’s hard to say if displays and layouts are better. The Free-Mo set up looked bigger. There seemed to be more Halloween theme trains and displays. I was surprised the Central New York Modelers weren’t here this year. They have an award winning HO layout.
