Re iron: As a kid, I had lots of milk, and I was also anemic. My doctor had me take iron pills three times a day, each with a glass of milk. This had absolutely no effect on my anemia. I'm not saying the milk caused the anemia in my case, because I have thin membrane syndrome in my kidneys, which means that they leak a small amount of blood. Despite this, on a plant-based diet for 4.5 years, I now have the best hemoglobin and red blood count numbers of my life, within the normal range, with no iron supplementation. Hey Carl, how were you eventually diagnosed with thin membrane? My vegan 7 year old daughter has low ferritin, despite a very well rounded(vegan) diet. I thought perhaps she needed higher iron fortified cereal but despite being on high dose Iron supplement for 3 months her ferritin is still fairly low, only a slight improvement. I happened to have low ferritin at the same time, probably from donating blood twice in a year and I was uninformed how effective blood donations were at obliterating ferritin levels. My ferritin levels recovered significantly after 3 months of high dose supplementing.

Or, the control was something like highly processed food products that are even worse, so the outcome was deliberately manipulated, or the study was paid for by an industry. @Etevaldo Skylab vegan farms are killing animals on purpose so they don’t eat the crops🤤 not on accident. It’s also not an “accident” to use insecticides and pesticides🤥. Most vegans are not farmers they don’t care about the environment or how they get the food as long as they can Virtue signal. Killing to eat is far different than killing so you can build a vegan factory🧢. Most farm land is held by bill gates who brings you factory food like chemical vegan meat. So again you dint care about the animals, just feeling like you saved a animals on the approved vegan list as you toss your plastic clothes in the dump after you spend a few months wearing them and flushing those plastic particles into the ocean🤑

I read that before coming in contact with europeans the japanese strictly omitted eating meat , consumption of red meat especially being considered disgusting and impure and was banned for a long time until the Meiji Restoration. I suppose the nation's health can be attributed to the tendency to stick with traditional eating practices, even though as all nations that got "modernised" they are probably greatly suffering from the "Western" diet influences.
@andrewcavanagh39462 жыл бұрын
I find it pretty comical when people who voraciously promote the eating of red meat try to tell you that vegan diets are unhealthy. When you look at the leading diseases and causes of preventable death in the western world heart disease and cancer are going to be on that list. What you will never find on that list is iron deficiency or vitamin B12 deficiency. I've never even heard of any one dying from a B12 deficiency but people die from heart attacks every day...often relatively young people. So this idea that a vegan diet is somehow unealthy is ridiculously overblown and a pretty obvious attempt to tell some people what they want to hear instead of telling them the truth. What do you eat to reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer...plenty of vegetables. What do you avoid eating...processed foods and sources of saturated fat. From the perspective of health messaging, getting people to move towards a more whole food, vegan diet would have huge health benefits. Getting them to eat more red meat could kill them. Tired of the BS.

To the point where one day about 4 to 6 months ago I said to myself, "Huh, I guess I'm doing this thing!" Now, whether or not I ever become fully vegan remains to be seen. I have no idea. It’s supposed to be under 35! Homocysteine was high, Crp was high. ALL INDICATORS of heart disease!! Doctor said no problem. So I forgot about it. Well, a year ago I increased my beef intake because it’s pushed as the most nutrient dense food on the planet (I’m stupid I know), well I just recently started diving into the importance of ldl and ApoB etc, and had another cardiovascular panel done again. My Lp(a) is now 246! Putting me at a greater risk of stroke. ApoB was 93! I recently went 100% plant based to try to reverse it. I had my cholesterol checked two weeks after going 100% plant based and my ldl dropped nine points! Will check again in a few months but no one believe me that it was the milk and red meat, so now I have proof and will continue getting labs to prove that it was the meat and milk. My diet before, for the past ten years I have had a smoothie with raw milk for breakfast everyday, a big salad for lunch, chicken breast or steak/ground beef with two veggies for dinner. @4:45 She says that one of the two studies that she refers to said that 0.5 servings of meat per day increased cardio vascular benefits for eating the meat vs not eating the meat. Well, a standard serving of meat is 65 grams....that's 65 GRAMS of cooked meat. The data she claims that supports eating meat concluded that half a serving increased cardio vascular benefits. For those that don't know the conversion, 65 grams is about 2.25 ounces of meat. Or for this huge meat pusher, her strong evidence is one study of two that she is aware of, that said that people given barely over 1 ounce of meat per day had cardiovascular improvement. What was the rest of the diet? Was the meat added or substituted for something that might have been worse like eggs or some processed food? Anyone, 1.125 ounces of meat per day is 51 calories of meat per day. Strange. That happens to be about the amount of meat per day the Okinawans averaged before they were Americanized. You know, back when they were the longest lived people on the planet. In short, without knowing anything else about how the people in this data that she is spewing, the people in the meat group got ???? percent of their calories from animal products, ???? from whole plant foods, ???? from processed foods, and 51 calories of meat per day and did better. The amount of meat in the study that she talks about that was used, was about 2.6% of calories if the people studied averaged 2,000 calories per day. 2.6%!!!! When you make an argument a big key that someone is full of it or doesn't know what they are talking about is when their argument is that weak. You should make your strongest arguments coming out of the gate else you can get yourself into a hole that you can't get out of. Even this industry shill, who has been pushing meat for YEARS, has no real argument. All the time she spent touring, speaking, debating, writing a book, supposedly studying the issue and speaking so confidently about it and this is what she has for an argument. At least she admitted that there were only two studies that she knows of that showed improvements of cardiovascular outcome. Perhaps she knows her entire career is based on lies so she throws out answers like this in the event she got sued or someone called out her bullshit in a way that is undeniable and this gives her an out. She can fall back on, "I did say I only know of two studies which leaves potentially hundreds of studies that show the opposite." Her - 'I can barely think of two studies off the top of my head even though I have done this for years and sold books about it but one of them showed that eating one bite of meat per day improved cardiovascular outcomes. Also, I can't tell you anything else about their diets or if even the meat was substituted in for something that was worse for the people or anything else for that matter.' Great video!

I am very grateful for the excellent work by the author of the book, as one of the many people benefitting from the shift in diet to more animal based nutrition. It is also very important to note the vital role that ruminant animals have in the health and diversity of the whole ecosystem - when they are properly raised under regenerative principles (NOT the big ag "beef industry") - as well as the nutritional benefits for humanity. Plant based eating may be better than the "standard American diet" for a while, but too many people report finding it unsustainable, while clean keto / carnivore seem to be leading to long term improvements across a range of modern health issues. The real life testimonies to this are becoming more numerous and widespread on a weekly basis.

Also, despite misinformation from people like Allan Savory, on a global scale, and compared to more plant-based diets, raising more livestock is almost always DE-generative. Eat more plant based and we can use 60-75% less land to feed the world, use 50% less water, emit 50% less greenhouse gases, and sequester hundreds of billions of tons of CO2 in the old farmland that we no longer need and are re-wilding and reforesting.

Only part of our planet with lower meat consumption is most of the countries in Africa. 5. Animal product consumption is MASSIVE in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand when you add high dairy consumption from those countries to this graph. 6. I was watching a video (CNBC KZbin) investigating why there are food deserts in underserved communities and what can be done. They mentioned that one hurdle for grocery stores is that even if healthier food is offered that taste preferences result in enough people not choosing it leaving demand too low. I definitely don't think that is a reason to not provide healthy food to all but it also had me wondering how hard it would be to break that pattern both from a taste and a gut perspective when it's all you (and perhaps your parents etc) ever had. Also in the video healthy food was basically anything not processed or typical take out but rather an omnivore diet with more fruits and veggies.

Thanks, Samantha. It is depressing, but ultraprocessed food is cheap, tasty, convenient, and doesn’t spoil like fruit does. I think if you really, truly dig in and look at all the research, you will find that it is much more complex than just giving up red meat or animal products to stay in or gain good health. There was a Ted talk concerning the healthiest diet and after a momentus amount of research, they concluded that it truly boils down to what your ancestors ate. Asian people might do much better on small amounts of seafood, rice, and lots of veggies. Someone whose ancestors come from the frozen northlands probably should stick with mostly meat, as their ancestors had little to no access to plants. The different migrations of humans to all the varying climates, produced varying evolutionary dietary needs. The paleolithic Ice Age people of the north hunted mostly and after 250,000+ years adapted quite well to high fat and protein. However, evolution itself is only part of the complexity concerning diet. I personally thrive on meat. My body does very poorly with large amounts of veggies and fruit. The high fiber content seems to tear my guts and digestion system up severely. I gained massive weight, prediabetic, high BP, etc. The only thing that fixed those issues finally, was to go more towards a carnivore or ketovore way of living. Weight is down 50lbs, bp normal, A1c much better, energy sooo much improved, labs looking better than ever. My doctor is just blown away, quite honestly. Btw..I do happen to be of Scandinavian descent. People do tend to treat diet like a religion, seeking The ULTIMATE TRUTH but it is largely dependant on each person's individual genetics/ancestry. If your sister is thriving eating keto, then you shouldn't worry, especially if that falls in line with your own personal ancestry. Multitudes are improving their health following this path. :) Also check this out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaLMapagfc-Boqs

@@TempleOvBlackLight My main concern in imitating the diet of Paleolithic ice age people is that they had a low life expectancy (35 years) so would not have survived long enough (not necessarily related to diet but their harsh living conditions) to determine what the long term implications of a meat-rich diet would have been for them. Keto type diets have been around for a long time so I wonder whether there are any studies of people on such diets long term and into middle age and old age. Also it's strange how killing innocent, defenseless animals is done on such a large scale and there are ppl out there who literally defend it by making plants look bad in every possible way. Thankfully there are popular animal activists debunking all their bs and science ,studies based channel like these. I can only imagine how better it would be if all that money and energy went into plant foods.

I love HUNGRY PLANET, on your bookshelf in the background. It's in the elementary school library where I've worked for fifteen years.
