I think a lot of it had to do with him being overshadowed by Russ and the meteoric rise of Steph Curry. Steph Curry became the Main topic in the nba became more famous worldwide than kd. Also Russ literally dominated the news in OKC people thought he was better than KD and the Organization themselves put Russ on a pedestal. People from around 2014-16 totally undervalued or didn’t appreciate the greatness of Kevin Durant.
@rich3637
@rich3637 4 жыл бұрын
People never talk about that Spurs series because the hate for KD is strong. Okc making it to the WCF and going up 3-1 on the Warriors was totally unexpected. That year no one thought okc would even make the conference finals because during the season they were having a bunch of late game melt downs. Come playoffs KD and Russ completely flipped a switch and KD outplayed Kawhi, who was an all nba player and DPOY that same season.

I completely agree, OKC was crazy in 2016. Beating the Spurs was wild OKC was supposed to beat Golden State and honestly they would have beaten the Cavs in 5. Look at the line up....the Cavs couldn’t match the size and sheer speed of OKC. Who is going to guard Serge? Klove? Really? Steven Adams? Kyrie cannot guard Russ...and Roberson would have put clamps on Lebron and JR as well and Lebron would be exhausted trying to stop KD. It would have turned ugly quick. Just think it took a record breaking performance from game 6 Klay to beat OKC while Russ and KD went like 10 of 31. And the Warriors barely beat them that game. OKC was dominant in that series. They lost it. Not the other way around. Damn near every game OKC was up 20 by the half and it was like how can OKC fuck this up. They were a terrible 4th quarter team that year and lost something like 10-13 games within 5 points....bruh. They won 55 games that year!!! We knew if they got it together they could be dangerous, and they were. That was the best post season I have ever seen. No one can convince me otherwise.

Sadly okc weren't winning at all kd said it himself the spacing was terrible and look at russ now he actually has spacing he looks like a different type of animal and really kd is only hated by okc fans and lebronstans who are angry that he took rings away from lebron cuz if the warriors didn't win it it was gonna be that stacked cavs team

Aside from San Antonio('14) and the injuries..KD only got beaten by eventual champs! Now that's legit!

My wife loved KD and OKC. And then he left and it was hard to jump with him. KD is so great, he’s probably top 20 already.

Hey man. Recent (a minute ago. lol) subscriber here. I've seen some of your videos and loved your takes on underrated performances. Just as a suggestion: Would you mind talking about Rick Barry's 1966-67 season? At 22 the guy led the league in scoring with 35.6 ppg and led the Warriors to the finals. They lost, but Barry averaged 40.8 ppg through 6 games at age 23 and scored 55 pts in a game. I feel like he's so underrated.

People tend to forget that Durant was arguably Top 3 for 2008-14 but nowadays he isn’t seen seriously as the best player in the league or even Top 3 in the league.

2016 spurs was different, I remember when we beat okc by like 30 or 40 and Russell Westbrook said something like “it’s only one game, we can lose by 1 or 40 we still got next game” and they beat us I was hurt but inspired
